TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 | A Motorcycle Game Like No Other - First Look!

- We've played TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3, and here's our full preview including developer and rider Davey Todd interviews.
The third game in the series, this time it's being created by RaceWard Studios, part of Nacon Studio Milan, using different physics - from RiMS Racing - and the same KT Engine technology. It includes the full Snaefell Mountain Course, laser scanned, but also an open-world environment where you can explore parts of the Isle of Man.
There's cross-generational upgrades and online multiplayer, the option of rain, a photo mode and two motorcycle classes. The 2022 season is included, with an update due later this year with the 2023 season.
The game will release 11th May 2023 for PC (Epic and Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, the aforementioned Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. There’s a pre-order bonus of a John McGuinness livery that celebrates his 100th start too.

Do you reckon there would be a possibility for pcvr / PSVR2 compatibility in the future or would that be too dizzying or complicated?
Do you know of any further develompment after release is planned? As far as I know there is planned to add 2023 riders. But what about any DLCs?
Does the helmet cam have bugs on the visor like TT2 had?
Do you have to or choose to play with a controller or, as odd as it might sound, can you use a wheel/pedals? I can't drive for shit with a controller but might be interested if I could use my wheel with force feedback. Never played a bike sim before though so maybe it just doesn't fundamentally work with a wheel/pedals.

It looks good. I actually can’t wait for the game. Also being from the island I feel like I can have a good say on how the island is on the game. And being in the top 280 in all the classes on TT 2. I don’t know what everyone else’s will be doing with aids. But I’ll be turning them straight off. Great video by the way traxiongg and robo46 can’t wait to see your videos on it. Fancy a race when it’s out?
I still play the TT2 game, the sense of speed is awesome. I feel adrenaline and goosebumps.

Great video!! Im very excited for the open world map, I think this will end up being the best of the TT games, really happy with the direction Raceward has gone. Didn’t know there were interlinking roads in freeroam as well. I’d love if they did include an online freeroam with other players in the future :)

7:45 is literally all I tend to care about when it comes to the initial interaction with motorcycle games. Too many keep chasing realism like car sim racing, but without the equivalent FF wheel, so feeling gets lost in translation through a control pad. I'm really pleased to hear the physics have improved from the last game because I couldn't enjoy the tracks and scenery because I'm constantly trying to tame the bike and it wouldn't make sense to have a beautiful free roam you can't appreciate🏍️🤯

Bro, you don't need any special equipment to handle a motorcycle sim. I have some RiMS Racing content, which demonstrates this fact. You can see for yourself. If you understand motorcycles, you will quickly learn how to manoeuvre them with a gamepad.
@@UrbanChaos20 that's really wasn't my point. Honestly I can get around IOM TT quite fast, but it took too much effort. You literally have to learn a whole new skill and unlike riding a motorcycle in reality (which I like to do too) is completely unintuitive which is a barrier for casual racing with my friends not familiar with the games peculiar physics.
I mentioned sim racing because I also have a rig and no matter how realistic or simcade the title, my friends... Heck my little nephews can quickly and enjoyably get to grips with these titles as a wheel translates better to the controls they use or have seen used in reality.
I can't beleive a bike open world hasn't been made before. It makes so much sense in the current gaming world. Maybe Milestone will go in this direction for the future Ride games which would fit well with their more casual feel. Exciting times!

Ride 4 is better anything else that includes moto gp 22 / super bikes same game kt racing crap wrc games they made are terrible too that’s why codemasters have took it over

Will the open world be multiplayer too? I do not have a gamepad and use a real dedicated bike controller so can I use keyboard to upgrade parts on the bike as handlebars dont have thumbsticks?
Enjoyed that. There is something interesting about the ability to do a lap of the Clypse Course and the St John's Short Course. This is where the real history of the TT is at. Really looking forward to this now.
Do you know perhaps if we will be able to set up suspension and gear ratio in the game?
Near the start line there’s a memorial with all of the names of the fallen riders at the TT with their own individual plaque. It would be cool if they included a feature which allowed you to ride to something similar and see all the names of the fallen heroes of the TT.
Looks very interesting. Hopefully modders could add traffic at one point. Would instantly make it a must have as it'll be the only free roam bike racer out now.
Well, you're wrong here - it's not the first free roam bike racer. Road Rage was first, but honestly it was a pure garbage, totally not worth touching

Yes TT2 still my fav bike game as a real life rider, you can throw the bike around like you can a real bike in TT2. The GP and Ride games are far to boaty. You want the skill to be in the speed not the handling because it’s just not difficult to lean a real bike it’s second nature so you don’t want to be having to try to hard or think about that in a bike game.
Definitely grabbing this one. There is nothing like the IOM TT!

This is the game we've been waiting for, for years! Purely on the Ireland is the only thing we've wanted! And finally it's here. Open world too? That's the cream on top. I absolutely can't wait! Pre ordered and ready to go!
I also play a shit ton of rims and I heard they are using those physics.. if this is true then it's finally going to be real. Again.. this is the game we've all been wanting and waiting for!

The distant terrain and vegetation popup look awful. Hopefully will be improved upon release.
This developer didn't fix Rims Racing graphics pop in or its inconsistent framerate. Sadly the same will apply here.
I wish the Gran Turismo developers would make a new Tourist Trophy. That game is still one of the best bike game and it controls superbly.

On the older 2 games I was mostly doing the practice and other thing I can't remember. Never liked the season thing with the other tracks a lot.

Very likely that wind noise will be improved before launch, as this is just a preview build. There will be no traffic on the Island unfortunetly! As for the last question, who knows! Lets wait and see 😄
Can't wait! Looking forward to trying to go sub 14:50 my v2 PB. V2 was my 1st game in over 20 years! Spent over 762 hrs on it. Love it!

By god if this doesent sound like the best bike-racing game that has ever been made! a garanti pre-order from me! I cant belive you gone and made not one, but two of the classic IOM TT tracks. Please tell me your working on a classic bikes DLC to go with it? Just be such a missed oppotunity if you dident. Anyway have to say I love what im hearing here! Brilliant! Nothing less

Agreed, South Island Expansion (with Billown Circuit) ,North Island Expansion (Mannin Begg!), Superlights, Superstock Proddies, Ultralights (the old Honda and Yamaha 2 Stroke 125's and 250's from 20 Years ago that are still used in Road Racing here and there!), Sidecars, actual Cars like Tony Pond's Rover 827 Vitesse or Mark Higgen's VR 15 WRX, Road Bikes (for that full "Forza Horizon on Bikes" thing! Be cool to compare and contrast the Superbike spec YZFR1 GYTR to a fully Road Legal YZFR1M IMO), Historic bikes going from '19 all the way back to 1907 (Note: The 1992 Yamaha OWO1 (Fogarty) and 1992 Norton NRS588 (Hislop) are *Mandatory* IMO!) old Cafe Races like a TriBSa, a Triton, a NorVin, a Dunstall Dominator 750, a Tonkin Tornado (a *Genuine* '62 Manx Norton made into a Road Legal Cafe Racer), a Seely Yamaha 750, A Harris Suzuki Magnum 4, a Rickman Interceptor, a Really Early Bimota like an SB2, a Magni HM2..etc, etc... There is some *Serious* DLC and Expansion Potential here *If* Nacon can get the Licenses they Need!
@@simeonyves5940 Couldent agree more! Might be a bit much for a DLC though? Be awesome if they could step up, and release a seperate Classic TT, or Legends type of game? I be all over that! Actually had a great idear for a Legends game where you whould follow all the mayor contenders going all the way back to the beginning. You whouldent be able to include everyone, and every year, but you could pick out all the mayor names and follow them throughout there career. Say Joey made his debut in 1975(not sure wich year it was?) and you pick 1975 you whould have a choice to pick between Joey, or one of the other big name from that year, and have a period correct race. Later on other big names whould come into the mix, but Joey whould still be there untill 2000 when his career sadly came to an end. Wich riders, and wich years that should be chosen whould have to take a better expert than me to choose, but I think it make a great game. Especially if you can race a period correct race on the track of its time, and we clearly could
@@IIXIIXVXIIXII I was thinking Multiple DLC's and a Couple of Expansions Personally, the Old (pre FH4) Forza Model were You had 2 Expansions and about 12 Separate DLC Packs, rather than just one big Expansion.
I guess the Island Expansions, the Supertwins/Superlights, the Sidecars, along with the Road Bikes and Cafe Racers (again, for that whole "Forza Horizon on Bikes" Thing mentioned by the Hosts of this Channel) would more than do for Expansions and DLC Packs for this Game if Licensing becomes Possible for them, as I do Understand that Nacon are not exactly a AAA Publisher, more big Indie starting to Cross into AAA (AA?) so some Licenses may be outside of their Reach Sadly.
Thinking about it, a "Spin off" Game like TT Superbikes Legends (love that one on PS2, Yup, got all 3 PS2 TT Superbikes Games, and they are what have got Me putting My Eyes on this One) could be even better for the Classic Bikes as then they could take it all the way with the Presentation and the Rules sets!
Indeed, due to Licenses (can't add Ago if MV Agusta goes "nope" after all) , and the fact some Estates/Families will say "no" , they won't be able to get all the Legendary Entrants, but I am pretty sure, at least going on the old Legends Game, most of the *Major* Entrants, such as Geoff Duke, Mike "the Bike" Hailwood, Giacomo "Ago" Agostini, Joey Dunlop, Mick Grant, David Jeffries, etc, Should be Possible!
Yer Maun Started in 1976 and got His First Win at the Jubilee TT in '77 on that Rea Racing Seeley/Yamaha Cafe Racer. IIRC, I think Mick Grant was the other massive Name back then, it is a bit afore My time, its back in Me Dads Days, the Big one for Me was *That* Senior TT in 1992.... its why I made special Reference to the OW01 and the NRS588..... but indeed, being able to Chose between Dunlop and Grant would be a great Insight into some of the Legendary TT Battles of the Past.
True, It would need an Expert and Experienced Chief Creative Director to chose the Years, '92 is Mandatory IMO, but, the others are up in the Air. Also need one Heck of a Sound Designer if they went back to the 30's and they added that 2 Stroke Supercharged "ladepumpe" DKW, as that thing can be Heard *Eight Miles* away at full Chat! Sammy Miller's Museum has a Fully working Survivor that they could model and Record.
Indeed, a Separate Game would allow for the Map to be Modified dependent on Year, so not only the Period Correct Rules, (Such as the "Minimal MPG" Regulations on the Very Early TT Races on Saint John's) but also Period Correct Elements, such as the Old Cars surrounding the Course (such as old Moggies and that in the 60's Races in the Days of Hailwood, Surtees, Ago, etc, ) , the Old Crash Barriers (and even NO Crash barriers as You go back to the 50's and earlier) the Old Rolled Macadam Surfaces that used to literally Melt in the Heat, the Old Sulby Straight that was closer to a Motocross Course in Some Years back in the Days of F750 as it was just so wracked with Potholes and Lumps, the properly "Cronky" Version of Cronk-Y-Voddie where it was so Bumpy that the Fastest Bikes (F750 again) would give a Rider Double Vision on that Section, really make it feel Period! Heck, maybe even Replicate the the Old "Pool" Petrol in the Late 40's Races (The Unbranded "Sludge" they had to use in the Days of Artie Bell and the "Garden Gate" (Pre Featherbed) Manx Norton, and meant they had to detune the Bikes to 6:1 Compression at most to avoid the Engines literally Knocking themselves to Death before the Bottom of Bray Hill as the Fuel was 71 Octane at Best, was Going off (as it was 10 Years old by that Point) and had some really cheap 50 Octane Stuff mixed in as well that would make the Engine Knock like Mad even at 6:1 Comp!), with some Some Random Backfiring and Power-Drops when the mixed in 50 Octane Stuff gets into the Cylinder!
I Remember how, back in F1 2013, Codies used to Alter the HUD in the Classic Races, to Reflect the Typesets and Displays used on TV Broadcasts of the Period, be kind of cool if Raceward did that with the Hud in a Separate TT Historics Game too, No Hud for the Really early Races, "Clockwork" Mechanical Dials and "Display Boards" in the 20's to the '70's, early Digital Computer Displays in the '80's and 90's, A Re-Creation of the Old PS2 Era TT Superbike Games HUD (with the Hud in 420P at that!) for Naughties Races, etc.
Yup, the Classic Bikes need a Separate Game for Sure!

If only we should one day have a game made with this kind of passion for the historie of the IOM TT it should be nothing short of a dream come true. Atm i be grateful for any little snippet of some classic content, and i armed myself with a lot of patience. I will keep on sirgesting it till the day i die though, and hope springs eternal that one day dreams do come true? Anyway nice to meet a kindrid spirit. Good to know im not the only one who loves the classics

Id ignored all details of the open world as it didnt interest me so it being based on the IOM is a very cool surprise, very excited for this now!

Good practice this game for reality very accurate mapping the bikes do actually handle well on this too , mastering the mountain section is not easy game or reality.
Give these guys the SBK and MotoGP license for a few years to see if they can take it out of the garbage. There is like 5 people playing MotoGP22 on Steam right now.

The idea of a open world is cool, but I'm more into the real thing. Real season , riders and old tracks and old bikes. But looks great, can't wait. Hope they put the wind sound at the final product.
The pop up looks really distracting, and the background quality of the mountains look like ps2, hope it will be better, and screentear in replay, what engine does this run on??

I loved both recent games but TT2 in particular and got quite high up on the leaderboards at one point. I only play in one of the cockpit views and this looked very underwhelming, there was no sense of the speeds displayed in 3rd person, 150mph looked about 30. And no wind noise? That all added to the overall effect.
Also, the complete change of physics is a worry cuz I loved how it played before whether realistic or not. Tucked in behind the screen was insane and as stressful as you can get on a computer game. I'm a biker in real life and don't like any other motorbike games, maybe its just me 🤔

Would of been awesome to of have had to get the race bike in the back of the van or start off with a trailer work your way up to bigger units and motor homes like mcguiness and having to drive to the events on the island and have your own team to work up to factory kit

It's great that they made progress but: open World on Island but only The North part? No Billown circuit ? No sidecars and classic and superstock/stock bikes to customize? We cant Paint and share visual ? I like The game series and love the Isle of Man but they missing a lot of stuff in this game to become as legendary as Race on The Island is.

Looks like they have completely ignored counter steering which makes me think it’s probably very arcady. Also at slow speed it looks like the bike just balances perfectly which is not the case in real life. That’s a shame :/
Free roam is not multiplayer 😂. Missed opportunity there. I think a live event of the tt race would be great. 10 player cap is very limited.

Can you change the fov? Looking ahead is nothing like real life. I get they've done it so you get a bigger sense of speed but it's completely unrealistic
I think it's a shame that English tracks are gone. Let's not forget that riders prepare for IOM TT at events such as North West or Ulster GP. I Loved the first game, enjoyed the second so it's a no brainer that I'll give this one a go but to be totally honest I'm not sure if i like that new direction that this series is taking. Time will tell.
None of those tracks you mentioned are English 🤣 Englands only road circuit is Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough.
As a fan of sim racing and a love in motorcycling, 2 favourite hobbies, I can't bring myself to play a motorcycle racing game with a controller 😢 if fanatec brought out handlebars or something maybe would consider playing these titles, also would be fun in VR

I race supersport bikes and isle of man TT 1 and 2 are not realistic camera setup was rubbish so hopefully 3 is a bit more like the milestone series which are more realistic
For me the bikes felt most realistic in the first game. I hope this one is closer.
Is it just me, or do modern Racing sims never give you the right feel of speed? It alway looks much slower than it would in real life. It makes it quite less enjoyable to me if I'm honest 😅

Graphics look terrible, especially backgrounds. Lots of pop up too that you didn't get in 1 or 2. Think I will stick to the first 2 games.

Not at all. The game is amazing it’s the best TT game yet in my opinion. The open world feature actually allows you to learn the track easier in my opinion and different tracks include sections of the real TT track. Also allows testing your bike after upgrades and set up changes on certain parts of the track much easier and quicker.
OH MAN. THEY ABSOLUTELY BOTCHED THIS. I got it on early release and it is SO BAD.
