Agreed on all points. I certainly didn't want it to sound like I was hating on Forza, because I genuinely love most of those games. I'm a big fan of both the simulators and the Horizon series. If anything, my issue is the annual release schedule. I know they are alternating between the main series and Horizon, but it still frustrates me that we're not seeing something else in between. It's especially bad in recent years, where Microsoft has largely relied on Forza for their holiday season sales. I would probably be a little more into the series if they took a year off in order to give us a new Project Gotham Racing or even an original racing franchise.
Yesterday we announced our fourth title. Check out our new game called "Carrumble" I like to describe it as Rocket League meets Smash Bros ... https: //www.youtube.com/watch? V = R7dK64Nky10 would love to know what you think
Auto Modellista had no idea what it was trying to be, it was a Sim-Arcade hybrid with completely mangled handling. If you tried to play it like an arcade racer it just turned into a nervous spinning out simulator.
$1.50 is an absolute STEAL for this game. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's not perfect (and I strongly recommend even the most die-hard racing fan shift the difficulty to easy to have a good time), but I've spent more than $1.50 on a bottle of water.

I forgot all about Formula Fusion! Last I heard, they are working on a port for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it's been a couple years since the PC version came out. I agree, we definitely need more futuristic racing games.
I had forgotten about it myself till a couple days ago . Maybe the Switch can do for futuristic racers , what its already done for bullet-hell , & other types of shmups ? . . . One can dream I guess ? lol
If it's supposed to be the future, the tracks should be ambiented in the newest and most "unpopular" cities of this era being more developed in that time then, like Lagos in Nigeria, or even more Latin American metropolitan cities like Mexico city or Santiago de Chile
I must admit at first I agreed with you I didnt like it and wanted it to be changed - but the cars are electric so we needed to find a balance. What I will say is that I very quickly got used to it and even came to like it.
I expected gorgeous lightning/raytracing and nightstages with partialy futuristic city's, but this doesn't even look as good as in the trailers. Time to wait 2 years for graphic mods then.
I miss arcade racing games. I think the best one this generation is actually GTA Online... it shows how little we got. (Ok, there is Forza Horizon, but I don't own an Xbox One)
Bummer about the AI. It seems to be incredibly hard to get right in these games. Which version did you play for this review by the way ? I'm wondering how well the PS4 version plays. Also, 50 bucks?! I hope the game didn't cost too much to develop because at that price it's gonna be a tough sell for the average consumer. Nowadays the only arcade racers still popular enough always have "Mario kart" or "need for speed" on the cover... With some exceptions every now and then like the sonic racing games, but these are few and far between. As for the QOTD : Motorstorm, but that's never going to happen 😢 and rapid racer too, as well as a new jet rider/moto, oh and Sega rally, and don't forget...Yeah, I miss the mid-late 90s.
Based on the sales of the last few Need for Speed games (and the fact that Electronic Arts hasn't announced a new installment), I'm not even sure that name is enough to sell units. I agree, $50 is a bit high. I think $30 would be a lot more fair, but I'm sure it will drop to that price in a sale in no time.
@@deadflexxx take 50 dollars remove VAT remove 30% retail margin and then remove 30% distributor margin. @@3dcloudsjonathan ... I have not played Xenon but it looks like ridge racer. I am not the biggest fan of ridge racer (except for unbounded - that game rocks!).
Because the default difficulty is way harder than it needs to be. I bumped the difficulty down and it felt more like most racing games. The developers made the default AI way too aggressive and prone to win races.
I'll give OnRush points for originality, but I wasn't a big fan of the gimmick. I spent most of the time just wishing it was a straight racing game, since I liked almost everything else about it. Like Swag, I guess I was hoping it would be more like the early Motorstorm games.
I loved the idea of Grip, but kind of hated the execution. The levels felt like they were there to get in the way of going fast and there were too many frustrating obstacles in the way.
@@DefunctGames Obstacles were be the biggest issue for me with Grip. You barely saw them, ran into one, then all the AI drivers took you over and you had basically to restart taking them over again, until, you forgot or oversaw that exact same obstacle in lap 2, because it's quite invisible at 500mph.
@@3dcloudsjonathan It looks indeed promising and it got also quite good reviews, but I think the price tag is quite high. Probably will get it when its price drops.
I'm super intrigued about this game. However, I'm afraid the high price will deter many people from picking it up until it hits the bargain bin. At thirty bucks, this would be a day one buy.

The PS4 is a lot more powerful than the switch.. There is no denying this and I am surprised you would think otherwise. A little research will answer all your questions. The switch is barely more powerful than PS3/Xbox 360.
@@teddym2808 Sorry but I don't care how powerful the ps4 is as it's games library is underwhelming. Previous Sony consoles were way better like the ps2 which I think is easily Sony"s best console. Also the ps4 controller is bloody awful i hate it.i don't know what Sony was thinking when they made that trash.
Um.. I chose the switch too.. it ended up costing me more than a PS4 pro by the time I got all the accessories/controllers. So, I'm with you. I am talking only about THIS game in THIS video... the PS4 should be able to RUN this game much smoother than switch,@@paulbarnes9490
@@teddym2808 I don't really like the ps4 as it's boring like the xbox 1 to me. At least nintendo is trying to do something different to make things interesting with the switch. As for how games run on the switch well that can be sorted out with better optimisation.I don't care about slight downgrades as I'm not a graphics whore,as long as the game runs fine that's ok.I noticed some ps4 games that are 1080p run like crap because the console can't handle it.But the graphics whores don't listen,to be honest i don't mind lower resolution if it means the game is actually playable.I agree with you that xenon racer on ps4 should run smoother but I think it's due to poor optimisation. Also the developer is an indie developer so will they have the funds to improve the game in the near future I don't know.
I LOVE arcade racers.. but this looks boring.. generic.. not fun. Apex Racer looks more interesting.. and what ever happened to the vapourware "90s Arcade Racer" ??? That looked way better than this.
Environments bursting with personality? I know you're desperate for a return to arcade racing, and so am I, but I'm not SO desperate that I think this game is anything more than a garish, garbled visual mess with mediocre gameplay that can't even run at a stable framerate on more than adequate hardware. I definitely think you're being lenient due to sheer genre starvation, this is definitely a game to look back on as being 'filler' material at best if this genre ever actually revives.
That's cold man. Especially since this game had the balls to actually include a FINISH LINE! Unlike OnRush...which was supposed to be the next best thing, but they denied actual "racing" mechanics.....??? Not cool. Listen, we're clawing our way back up man, and we need to support these titles. I've seen quite a few arcade racers over the past 2 years, and most of them were "meh". Xenon Racer actually put in some work, and with Dangerous Driving right behind it?? (OG Burnout devs) things are starting to look good! Look at what's holding the mantle of arcade racing! FORZA HORIZON 3. Terrible. It's a sim-cade, "driving game" at best.
That's just it, NOONE has made a good arcade racer in generations, the closest we've had are the NFS and Burnout Paradise games by Criterion, but no, those don't count because an open-world with a GPS does not do the same job as carefully crafted tracks. I still think this game is only mediocre at best, but we've been so utterly starved of games that mediocre starts to look good. This game can't even run at a solid framerate on a PS4, it's constantly jittering (and the less said about the recent Switch version the better). Either the engine is hideously unoptimized or a lot of important staff from Criterion never made it over because nothing about this game shows that studio's level of quality. @@Delroy61

Yesterday we announced our fourth title. Check out our new game called "Carrumble" I like to describe it as Rocket League meets Smash Bros ... https: //www.youtube.com/watch? V = R7dK64Nky10 would love to know what you think

Wasn't Auto Modellista a sim racer?
I would say it leaned more on the arcade side than being a straight simulator.
Auto Modellista had no idea what it was trying to be, it was a Sim-Arcade hybrid with completely mangled handling. If you tried to play it like an arcade racer it just turned into a nervous spinning out simulator.
I would love to see a remake of hot wheels velocity x. And the other one but can't remember what it's called
Resurrecting an old video but this game is on sale for a $1.50 currently in 2024.
$1.50 is an absolute STEAL for this game. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's not perfect (and I strongly recommend even the most die-hard racing fan shift the difficulty to easy to have a good time), but I've spent more than $1.50 on a bottle of water.
Today we announce the third round of FREE additonal content - race round
Nevada on 4 new tracks(better to avoid area 51 these days) in a brand
new super car - check the trailer out here th-cam.com/video/qzoSgI_LNJM/w-d-xo.html
Oh boy, I remember that thumbnail image... because I captured it!
EA should bring back the Road Rash series or whoever has the rights to San Francisco Rush should get off there ass and make another one of those games.
Wave Race - Game Cube version was over looked and was so good
F-Zero would be nice too
Lots of new free content has been announced with releases in May / June and July. Check out the details here soedesco.com/xenon-racer-post-release-plans/
When is Formula Fusion dropping on consoles ? Wipeout Omega Collection is great , but we need more , more , MORE , in the same cool vein as that !
I forgot all about Formula Fusion! Last I heard, they are working on a port for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it's been a couple years since the PC version came out. I agree, we definitely need more futuristic racing games.
I had forgotten about it myself till a couple days ago . Maybe the Switch can do for futuristic racers , what its already done for bullet-hell , & other types of shmups ? . . . One can dream I guess ? lol
Kieran Bilvington Great ,fingers crossed then .
I just want a good game that looks like burnout, ridge racer, need for speed, forza, gran turismo and F-zero
Currently on sale on Xbox One for 90% discount which sounds like a good deal after watching this video 😊
+1: 44 Shogun Racers toys in a game LOL
I'd love to see fzero return
If it's supposed to be the future, the tracks should be ambiented in the newest and most "unpopular" cities of this era being more developed in that time then, like Lagos in Nigeria, or even more Latin American metropolitan cities like Mexico city or Santiago de Chile
49.99 for the Switch? 😵😵😵
I’m just about to get it for 2.99 on the PS4 but I’m not so sure, that’s why I came here 🤣
Would love to see blur come to xbox one
So looking forward to this game but the car sounds like a electric saw that really puts me off
I must admit at first I agreed with you I didnt like it and wanted it to be changed - but the cars are electric so we needed to find a balance. What I will say is that I very quickly got used to it and even came to like it.
@@3dcloudsjonathan right ok think i wait for price drop till i add it to me collection
@@karlosthehawk3730 I hope you do at some point you wont be disapointed
@@3dcloudsjonathan if different cars had different sounds for the type of engine than just a electric saw sound then maybe i be persuaded

This is the sucky version of rush 2049 with no jumps no interesting cars it's the oatmeal with no sugar version

Midtown madness.... God the memories
Now your talking - it was the first game I launched when I worked in MS fond memories
I was really excited to get this but $80, I'll just stick to FAST RMX.
FAST RMX is probably one of the best of these kind of racers, but it is only available on Switch.
This game is on sale for $1.50 lol I’m definitely snatching it up on PS4
That's a GREAT deal. I'm honestly surprised it's that cheap.
Xenon is available on all platforms you should give it a shot
A new Top Gear baby!
Would Love to share with you the breakdown of where the 50 bucks end up I think everyone would be well suprised but I would upset too many people:)
@@3dcloudsjonathan is it to fund new modes etc.....
@@deadflexxx take 50 dollars remove VAT remove 30% retail margin and then remove 30% distributor margin. Then remove the cost to produce (5 for a cd or 11 for a switch cartridge) then pay the platform holder their cut and split the rest with your publisher......not much left:) Of course the digital model is much different and cuts out a lot of middle men.
@@3dcloudsjonathan any new modes on the way...
... I still have sled storm somewhere :) I always dug downforce on the ps2. Never met anyone else who has played it.
thats a new one for me - what do you think of Xenon?
@@3dcloudsjonathan ... I have not played Xenon but it looks like ridge racer. I am not the biggest fan of ridge racer (except for unbounded - that game rocks!).
@@wilrivera2668 it was one of our biggest influences
@@3dcloudsjonathan xenon is a very pretty looking game though. Are there crashes or vehicle damage?
@@wilrivera2668 there is damage and an indicator that if you damage the car 100% you respawn. Graphically the damage is only a few scratches.
Why does the AI accumulate so many points in the championship?
Because the default difficulty is way harder than it needs to be. I bumped the difficulty down and it felt more like most racing games. The developers made the default AI way too aggressive and prone to win races.
Motorstorm needs to comeback Sony!
LOL they fired the team who made it and the horrible driveclub, they have made Onrush if u want a motorstorm like
I'll give OnRush points for originality, but I wasn't a big fan of the gimmick. I spent most of the time just wishing it was a straight racing game, since I liked almost everything else about it. Like Swag, I guess I was hoping it would be more like the early Motorstorm games.
Defunct Games we need some motorstorm Pacific rift / apocalypse, Split Second Remasters 🔥
Did- did you just call Canada a city?
No, but I can understand why you (and others) heard it that way. I definitely could have been a bit clearer with my wording.
面白そうなレースゲーム。 🎮
I loved grip. Grip is fast as shit and climbs walls.
Yeah Grip is a decent racing game on the switch it's not quite perfect but I still like it.
Hope you wil all grab a copy of Xenon Racer - if you love high speed drifting you will love Xenon (ps I liked grip too)
@@3dcloudsjonathan It looks indeed promising and it got also quite good reviews, but I think the price tag is quite high. Probably will get it when its price drops.
Extreme G (or XGRA)
I'm super intrigued about this game. However, I'm afraid the high price will deter many people from picking it up until it hits the bargain bin. At thirty bucks, this would be a day one buy.
Loads of tracks cars and game modes - check out this trailer th-cam.com/video/RuHy9t2U8MQ/w-d-xo.html
Looks a bit tepid to me...hopefully it's a bit more exciting to play.

Ridge Racer clone .. fun if you know how play ridge racer .. I’m loving it maybe because I think it’s a ridge racer clone lol
Canada is my favourite city
Ha! Yeah, I meant to say location and not city, but didn't catch it until it was too late. D'oh.
$3 on eshop right now
need a new version need for speed 1 and 2
This is gonna be a mess on Switch.
Its looking real nice on switch:) months of hard work.
@@3dcloudsjonathan Then why haven't you guys shown it off before release?
@@RyRyTheBassGuy we sent out the keys to switch reviewers last monday and tuesday - we waited until the day 1 patch had been approved by nintendo as it contained more than 4 months work of improvements and additional features such as the leaderboard and photomode.
Aaaaaand I was right. Oof.
wow if this looks this bad on the PS4 (erratic frame rate), I loathe to even think what the switch version runs like.
Stop hating on the switch sorry but the ps4 isn't that special.
@@paulbarnes9490 Yeah i REALLY hate on the switch.. I have 200 digital games and 41 physical games for my switch.. I don't support nintendo at ALL lol. I was just making an actual factual point.
I barely use my ps4 anymore which explains why it's covered in so much dust.I never buy consoles for power anymore as it's the games library that makes a console great not power.Ps4 best games can be played elsewhere so I can't see the point that of the ps4.The biggest disappointment for me is the exclusives on ps4 are a huge let down.
Slow
The game or me?
@@DefunctGames lol 😂 game
Dont buy it. Not even for 5 bucks, its trash. Terrible gameplay and AI total random.
How about NO?
Rush 2049
I really like the world they created in Xenon. You can come up with reasons why I liked the game, but I think the levels are fantastic and look great.
