- Driving down the treacherous and dangerous road from Ohiya to Kalupahana, along the Devil's Staircase.
A convoy of a KIA Sorento, Subaru XV, Mahindra Scorpio Double Cab and a Mahindra Bolero taking up to the challenge of driving down 22 kilometres during extreme weather conditions on the wet and muddy track with lose soil, lose rocks, extreme edges, tyre killing concrete tracks and dilapidated bridges.

Hi Kasun, thanks for this video, today I am planning to cross this with Terios. Thanks for your advise as well.
Good to hear. All the best bro. With this dry weather you will have some amazing views.
I done it, but now that wooden bridge was not there and rebuild with concrete. I had a Amazing drive and wonderful experience.
@@dimuthdisk awesome. Yes, the wooden bridge was broken and rebuilt recently
Hey man! My fam are going to Nuwara Eliya this week. I insisted my dad to go here as well with our 2011 Terios!! ❤
Nice drive guys.how was the leach situation.we are trekking. Thanks
Oops, So sorry, missed this comment. Leeches - not much. Keep out of the grassy areas.
Bro, terios ekakata me gamana yanna puluwanda. podi upadesak dennako. thanks.
Terios will easily manage this I guess. With it's shorter wheel base, high ground clearance and 4wd it will do. You will need to drive carefully anyway. And will need someone to get down and guide you in difficult areas.
@@SriLankanTravelogue thanks kasun, today i will go there, my channel name is " Dimuth Disk" just you may find, I am already following you. Thanks Kasun.

Guys, how well Sorento did ? , I also got one and planning for the same route. Your insights will help lot.
This is certainly doable in a Sorento. There are a few things to keep in mind.
1. Sorento is fairly a wide car. and it's wheel base is also long. Not particularly designed to do off roading. This road is narrow and at certain points, with the sharp bends the car almost feels wider than the road. So you need a couple of guys willing to get down and navigate you through. A couple of guys who wouldn't mind getting down and do the navigation even in the rain or the mist. It's a different experience as well.
2. Sorento's suspension is a bit soft, as it is made for comfort. So it will tend to bounce as you drive over the rocks. Again someone need to see underneath and guide you. This will happen in the sections where the road to paved with fairly large rocks (there are sections like that. This is a horse track and then a jeep track). I think you won't feel this much if you go uphill. But downhill journey is more scenic.
3. Make sure your AWD is working properly.
4. Remove the footboards. It will give you more ground clearance. We did and it proved to be useful.
5. Drive with patience. It took us almost 6+ hours from Ohiya to Kalupahana. Take breaks, let the car rest while you enjoy the scenery.
What else? Nothing specific more I guess. I'd recommend you to avoid the heavy rain. We also did in the rainy season and it rained all the way. But luckily the rain was not heavy during the time we did this section. take food and water supplies for the journey. I wouldn't recommend drinking from the streams along the way as those pass the line houses.
Have a nice journey bro!

Hi how long was the duration ?
Since this has to be done with caution and we spend time enjoying the scenery as well, it took us around 5 hours.
