RIP to a good man who gave the City of Coventry something that will be cherished forever. I think everyone on that day in 1987 (apart from Spurs fans) were sky blues supporters. Thoughts with all of his family and friends ❤

Loudest cheer at Wembley all day the other year was when John was in the crowd as the camera panned over to him and we could all see him on the Big Screen. I've never seen so much affection from so many people in a single moment for one man before and I doubt I ever will again. Rest In Peace

John use to drive me and his son to school in his huge Mercedes during 1987. I remember how exciting it was as Cov got further and further in the FA cup and how relaxed John seemed about it all. A great man indeed. A lovely tribute too.

Sad news. I remember him as a solid full-back during Jimmy Hill's early years at CCFC. He was a major contributor to the clubs rise from division 3 to division 1. And of course he was co-manager when we won the FA cup for the first and only time. He was a great footballer, a great manager and a great human being.

A lovely man, a larger than life character .......the word legend will doubtless be used, and rightly so. One little anecdote, JS had a little known young player called Stuart Pearce (later a.k.a. "Pscycho" Pearce ) install the lights in John Sillet's stable / outhouse. John knew a good man when he saw one, and he knew how to get the best out of them.....both on.... and clearly off the pitch.

I was 8 years old & lived in the Binly oak were my father Jack Sanderson was manager & a good friend to John & George, when the team went for a run in the park they were always last by 10 yds or so, I had to stand outside & tell them the team was running up the hill after They finished their pints & jokes they latched on to the end of the team as they ran by.
LEGENDS in there own lifetime sorely missed.
