    Very important untold shortcomings :
    1. Engine orientation doesn't matter in power production provided that gravity effect doesn't affect.
    2. Position of centre of gravity affects many consequences like engine vibrations, stiffness, structural stability, normal reaction causes wear, etc.
    3. Availability of area for fast convection (Higher area exposed to air flow promotes high 'h' coefficient) based on relative orientation.
    4. Orientation of engine impacts on space accommodation & CC.
    5. Lubrication ease.

      I know that a upside down horizontal is never used, it's probably because all the heavy mechanics would be at the top but other than that seem a decent idea. The Germans did a similar idea with a upside down v engine on the messerschmidt plane they called it a internal v engine. I thought it might be workable though highly improbable?

    Also, horizontal engines, the vibrations tend to be also horizontal thus less felt when riding. Vertical engine layout has a more pronounced vibration as the vibration is also vertical.

      The secondary forces are perpendicular to the forces created by the piston. In consequence, you will always get vibrations in both in horizontal and vertical directions, no matter how you position the cylinder.

    On a single horizontal air cooled engine the cylinder gets even cooling and cooler air to the hottest part of the engine . The exhaust is under the bike and the heat is not effecting the carburetor. The carburetor gets cool air which is good for horsepower and allows for a longer and larger air intake to itemize the fuel for torque and horsepower. That is my pick !
    The wear on the bottom of the piston is limited , gravity allows more oil to feed down the bottom of the piston and engineers can design the piston to feed more oil in that area .

    Whenever the Flathead V8 came out people said it would wear out the bottom side of the cylinder like the horizontal engine is claimed to do. Yet anyone who has ever performed engine work has clearly seen the compression and thus expansion of the piston rings into the cylinder wall far overcomes this negligible force. Did engineer really put this show together?

Now Honda is separated from hero . Honda now makes vertical engine . But in second place ie Activa scooter 3rd shine 125cc . Smoother engine than , competition but horizontal engine power is unbeatable in the 100 cc segment . I have 110 cc vertical engine Honda but horizontal hero bike power comes at earliest rpm . So hero bike overtakes mine motorcycle.
      But it has lot of vibration and build quality is average.
      But people buy it in more number especially for village, farm works

    Vertical engines don't really offer any advantage, but they look classic that's why the Bonnies use em.
    Horizontal engines don't vibe and lube easy but they take up a lot of space so the swing arm is shorter and hence compromised stability.
    Inclined engines are Goldielox zone
    But reverse inclined engines are perfect, they have all the advantages of an inclined engine, the exhaust is naturally on the back so it's a lighter run, it takes shockingly little space so even in a relatively small wheel base the swingarm can be long and is very stable in the corners.

    • @jeevanrohtak5126

    I own a R nine T and a R1200R; I couldn't body steer these bikes as it tends to drift to the left compared to my S1000R and XR which responds just by shifting body weight without any steering input. Also noticed that an Inline-4 has better fuel mileage than boxers with aggressive riding behavior.
    Boxers are heavier but much easier to maneuver on low speeds than my inline engines especially on filtering and snaking into a bumper to bumper traffic. Inline engines have a satisfying speed and sound on a straightaway.
    Vertical/Inclined Engine is harder to maintain as it requires a lot of digging just to get to its valve cover alone compared to a boxer. On the other hand; you'll literally need to cut the bike in half just to reach the clutch on a boxer.

    The stressed member engine has been underdeveloped until more recently again. I'm think'n electric bikes will utilize this design more efficiently. Having a rearward tilting cylinder like the Yamaha 4stroke dirtbikes, with the intake tract out front, is really pushing the envelope of practical design. Highly developed layouts like this are the future.

In a flat engine, the pistons are opposed but may not move with the precise symmetry found in a boxer engine. In contrast, a boxer engine features pistons that move symmetrically, or “box,” providing superior balance and smoothness. In summary, all boxer engines are horizontally opposed, but not all horizontally opposed engines are true boxer engines. The Goldwing isn’t a Boxer engine.

    Mostly the uncle bikes in india(Hero) used horizontal engines...rest every manufacturer uses inclined engine. Only royal enfield uses vertical engine.

    So I think that engines correspondingly moving forward the stroke piston opposite to forward pushing then the internet question agent is 50% less than applied forced what's the other and vertical gravity

    Most vertical engines singles to in line 4s quite Torquey engine s but need balancing for smoothness boxer engines lower Centre of gravity have There disadvantages with oil flow

    Vertical is easier to assure better equal top end lubrication. Incline heat transfer. Horizontal low center weight.

    I also have BIKE with INCLINE ENGINE (HONDA CBR 150R K45A)
    from my experience, HORIZONTAL engine is the most durable engine & cheap, but lack of power.
    INCLINE ENGINE is more power but also it's cost more 😅

    I don't think that agree with your comments about horizontal engine. Their is no difference in the side of the piston because as you said it's used mostly in small bikes so the piston is light. Also the depiction is not correct because due to gravity oil is on this side so it's get better lubricated. Also the spring aply a much higher force in the side wall of the engine. At least in Greece where people use a lot of moppets like Honda cub etc. Don't have this kind of reliability problem.

      CC, known as the cubic capacity of an engine, is measured in cubic centimeters (CC). It refers to the amount of air and fuel that can be pushed through the cylinders in the engine.

    Can anyone help? He said that when an engine is horizontal the reciprocating motion is the same as the bikes. My question is if the Pistons are moving left to right aren't they the opposite of the bikes motion? Did he speak incorrectly or did I understand wrong. To whoever May answer me please don't batter me too hard this is a legitimate question

    • @pepegya5168
      @pepegya5168 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe it meant horizontal as in it reciprocates back to front, inline with your riding direction

    • @ainulkarim5074
      @ainulkarim5074 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you mean pistons moving left to right as in boxer engine like the BMW on the video ? How does it move the opposite of bikes motion when the bike moves forward and the piston move left-right not reciprocate backward ? Sorry maybe i don't understand the question

    • @salvatoredigrigoli3210
      @salvatoredigrigoli3210 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ainulkarim5074 thank you for taking the time to answer me I thought reciprocating meant back and forth so if the Pistons are going left to right the crankshaft would be spinning opposite direction of your wheels front to back. I'm still a little confused I looked up the definition of reciprocating and everything LOL. Thanks again for not mocking me the motorcycle Community needs more people like you😁👍
