The legend of the Super Saiyan terrified many beings of great power. The King of Saiyans, Vegeta the third, thinks the Super Saiyan could potentially lead to the end of his dynasty - so the minute he sees a hint of it in someone else, he casts them away. The Emperor of the Universe, Freeza, thinks the Super Saiyan could lead a Saiyan uprising strong enough to finally end his rule over his family’s entire empire - so he eliminates the species. This mighty warrior of legend is someone the fandom has speculated on for years so let’s ask the question. What if Goku was the legendary Super Saiyan?
Okay. Enough is enough. Let’s tackle this question once and for all. I’ve been asked for a long time to cover What If Goku was the Legendary Super Saiyan? To some degree, I’ve answered that question on my What If live streams, but today, I think you guys deserve the full answer - and it might actually surprise you. Maybe you’ll even learn something. The legend says a warrior that only appears ONCE every thousand years. If he was the legend wouldn't he be the only one to appear? The fact that others obtain it kind of take away from that. Maybe another more appropriate what if would be "what if goku was the only super sayain"

There is a way. Like say, if Bardock prioritized his son's safety over confronting Freeza. Like, by the point where Bardock returned to the planet, he was way stronger than the average warriors. He could have ramboed his way into the chambers (assuming most sayian guards of note werent there cause of the death of the King). And then rewrite his pod to be sent off to earth.
Goku being a mutant sayian could have super high PL lvl spikes, which could lead him to be discovered and killed... But there is also the whole factor that this power lvl is not consistent, and can be maintained to low, hard to discover lvls as long as Goku is calm and sleeping. Plus there are just so many other power levels distracting Freeza at the point of the of the planet's destruction. Goku could have been long gone before Freeza realizes that anyone of note escaped.
If the idea is just to have a short done once and the dumped thing, sure, one can always just go with the alternative were it's doomed form the get go. But isn't it more interesting to discuss the instances where he survives?

Kale and Super Broly are both considered "mutants" by Saiyan standards, and both have odd genetics that affects their forms... and I have a feeling that it's all tied back to the Oozaru power, with the differences between them being explainable by the fact U6 Saiyans are different overall from U7 Saiyans.
Broly Great Ape form was MONSTROUS, and led him to not only be stronger than the average Oozaru, but entirely uncontrollable. Even with that power was trapped by the cutting of his tail, his stowed within him- eventually finding a way out through the Ikari form after he'd finally been pushed for once in his life. Kale has a similar uncontrollable rage within her, but unlike Broly, she never even HAD a tail, due to U6 evolving and presumably outbreeding with other species enough remove that from their current generations... however, they clearly still have saiyan power within them, as shown by their capability to use Super Saiyan, so we can assume whatever powerful fuels the Ikari transformation is still locked somewhere inside of them... or, potentially, having permeated throughout their entire being as opposed to being triggered through a transformation. And because it's still there, we can assume the kind of ailment Broly has could be afflicted on Kale, as well- albeit, it affecting her in a different way thanks to clear genetic differences.

You could start off the story by making Bardock prioritize Goku's safety over confronting Freeza. That way, Goku could still be safely sent to earth by the time the planet goes kaboom. Then you basically can go through Dragon Ball, but now, instead of having the simple problem of turning into a giant ape when looking at a full moon, Goku has to deal with his uncontrollable rage, which could change his relationship a lot with the rest of the cast.
Villains could be defeated easier than normal, but at the same time, Goku would have far more problems than just the villains of the week. While by the time they reach Super, it could lead to a timeline where SSG isnt discovered, because Goku would already have the natural potential to fight Beerus at that point.
The team of ToP could then get weaker as a result, and the odds will be tougher, because they lose a lot more members early on. Meaning that the Z fighters will actually be pressed by the timelimit, cause they wouldnt have the number advantage unlike in canon.
It could also lead to an interesting change of events if it was written under the context of the original timeline as opposed to the time travelled one. Having Goku die by the heart virus, with Cell having the same age as Trunks.... But then, to avoid it being a repeat of Future Trunks backstory, the Z fighters could actually make use of stuff like the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Baba's 24 hour revival, Cell possibly teaming up but as a neutral party to deal with the androids. And for spice, we could even go through some of the filler arcs, including the Otherworld Tournament, it just happening chronologically earlier to make up for the fact that Goku reached the same heights sooner.
Or even if we decide to go with the "Future intervention" timeline, things could still be very different, simply because of Goku's massive power. Like, Majin Bu saga could happen early, because Babidi would have enough energy to ressurect him sooner.
If one would like, this could happen at the same time as the Android Saga, so there could be some sort of threeway battle between the Z Fighters, The Androids and Majin Bu.
Anyhow, point is; Goku as the LSSJ has a lot of story potential because it is more than a simple power up, plus there are ways one can explore Dragon Ball in general if one just used established features that kinda were "forgotten" in the show itself.
So, there are grounds for disappointment when the shorter, dead end route is chosen instead, because it is simply no where as interesting as the actual stories you could write about it.
Plus, there is a very important factor that may have been overlooked... Goku with green hair, actually would look like a carrot! He'd be truly worthy of his sayian name, and fill better the role as The Legendary Super Salad.

While this is a fair take, I think it’s missing the forest for the trees a bit.
Base power isn’t actually the most fascinating thing about Broly’s mutation, after all. Rather it’s the fact that his ability to rapidly develop in the face of an adversaries power, which Goku also seems to possess to some extent, doesn’t require him to train after being confronted with said power to match and or surpass it. It happens rapidly, over the course of the fight itself.
If Goku specifically had the mutation that exists in Broly, I might argue the most interesting scenario would be one where his base power stays the same as it was originally.
Rather, it’s his freakish ability to evolve at such a rapid rate during the course of a fight itself that Goku, as the “Legendary Super Saiyan” (I agree this title is a bit of misnomer by the fandom) would retain.
A Goku that, essentially, instantly adapts when introduced to a new plateau of power. The more one thinks about this, the more interesting it gets, especially considering that he’d presumably adapt to Grandpa Gohans power by the start of the series, and that Cell would have the same trait.
You could really have fun with that scenario if you wanted to.

A wise turtle once said, "One often meets his destiny on the path he takes to avoid it."
Using cannon information my understanding of the "legendary" or " berserk" Saiyan is that it kind of functions like Type 1 diabetes. The S-Cell which saiyans use to transform have mutated which makes it far more resilient being allowing it to spread far more than regular S-Cell's. The massive amount of S-Cell's without the body having been able to regulate it causes an autoimmune reaction but instead of targeting the pancreas it targets the saiyan equivalent to the pituitary gland. The damage to the gland causes hormonal issues which produces irrationality, high amounts of aggression and if not treated or regulated insanity and eventually death. However as the body is not harming or regulating the S-Cell's they are able to function at levels beyond it's safe limit causing high amounts of energy to be released however the S-Cell's will eventually be strained to much and cause a chain reaction where a cell collapses causing the energy to be released all at once and the excess strain to spread out causing more to cells to fail and eventually kill the saiyan.

I do believe the issue people are having in acknowledging Goku as the "legendary super saiyan"
is because EVERYONE IS A SUPER SAIYAN
there's nothing legendary about it anymore
so the idea that the legendary super saiyan is inherently genetic, rather than attainable through training, is infinitely more appealing at this point in the story
yeah sure, back when Goku was the only super saiyan, he was the legendary super saiyan
and while he still TECHNICALLY is the legend, he sure as shit doesn't feel like it
not to mention, the fact the legend is only supposed to happen like ONCE EVERY MILLENIUM

I always thought that Goku and the gang’s version of Super Saiyan was something all saiyans could do, but just were never pushed far enough, and that Broly was the actual “Legendary” Super Saiyan from the legend
I figured that the transformation in itself was legendary, even with all the super saiyans we have now, it’s likely still a rather tiny percent of the population of saiyans that have ever lived throughout the history of the race.
@@heroichitsuji Relatively speaking, that’s true. If you think about it, the Saiyan race’s class system is based solely on one’s power level at birth. Saiyans are strong, but they never trained. Saiyans like King Vegeta and Prince Vegeta were born with planet buster level power, they didn’t attain it. So, even on Namek, Vegeta and Goku before SSJ were (likely) the strongest full-blooded Saiyans who ever lived (based on DBZ canon, not including the new canon Broly) since they ACTUALLY trained. It wouldn’t surprise me if before them there was a Super Saiyan at one point and that it actually did happen that rarely because no Saiyans ever actively tried to attain it. Even the Earthlings like Tien and Krillin would probably stomp 99% of Saiyans who ever lived. Vegeta and Goku are prodigies of their race.
Yeah and I am happy that it is not canon. If Broly was the legendary super saiyan then Goku’s super saiyan form would be nothing more than a cheap imitation compared to it.
@@colebtv6086 Kuririn and Tien would def solo any saiyan prior to planet vegetas destruction… but it’s only because Goku pushed them to keep training in hopes to surpass him😂 If not king piccolo would’ve destroyed earth and any saiyan would’ve easily conquered earth. I believe saiyans rarely had problems conquering any planet because none of those planets were protected by a saiyan who could stand up to his kind thus forcing a level-up for not only his race but anyone they meet. Saiyans would destroy everything on sight and would not give anyone even a chance to try to defeat them

For reference, the "Legendary Super Saiyan" form in Cannon, Kale and Broly's positions being lumped into a "Super Saiyan C-Type" Classification.
Honestly, this does make sense as the form is seemingly a genetic classification.
Kale's case is already stated, and Broly's power, seemingly grows in a similar, but more exponential way like Kale's Berserker SSJ.
So "C-Type" SSJs are seemingly Saiyans who have a degree of power that is so great and that grows so great that it is very hard to control, and it causes their bodies to bulk up, the power potentially going to their heads and making them go Berserk.
It can be controlled as shown with Kale reigning in the Berserker SSJ form into her base SSJ state, later tapping into more of its power and surpassing it's previous use when making it SSJ2 .
But in the case of Broly, his power is likely so great and grows so much faster than Kale, stacking with his isolation and lack of training, led to his power growing and absolutely overwhelming him, not to mention him accidentally stacking Ikari with SSJ, which at the low end, is a 60x base multiplier if they are additive, at the most, 500x stronger than base if the multipliers multiply. And that is all on top of his base power growing constantly as he taps more into his inner potential.
So I say a future what if in the vain of "What if Goku was the Legendary Super Saiyan" would be "What if Goku was a Super Saiyan C-Type"

B types are supposedly Hybrid Super Saiyans. When angry, power increases in a massive scale, but calming down tends to weaken the user.
Did you really use the wiki for this? C-type b-type and a-type are terms nowhere to be found in dragon ball lore except for the dragon ball wiki that is modified by fans. It is as true as using Wikipedia as a source of info. You should look at it and judge it whether it seems true or not, but for that you also need to check the sources from where the wiki found out about the information, with that it is easy to spot what info is true and what info is bs. Sorry but the a b and c-type super saiyan is just BS made up by the fans. The explanation fits the wiki but not the cannon lore. Good work on thinking it that way and coming up with an explanation but you shouldn’t have based yourself in that since it is not cannon and it serves nothing to explain cannon lore. I think you misunderstand the term Legendary Super saiyan and how they were using it for goku and Broly.
In Goku's case Vegeta calls the super saiyan transformation legendary because it gave the saiyans immense power and happened in ancient times and no one has been able to achieve the power since so it earned the title legendary.
In DbZ Broly's case his is called legendary super saiyan because his version of a super saiyan is more powerful than a regular super saiyan so it earned the legendary title simply because of its power (and also only happens once every thousand years).
It's like a rare mutation of a regular super saiyan where the power is ridiculous.
The super saiyan of legend was defeated by an army of regular saiyans so the super saiyan in ancient times that Vegeta was talking about when he thought he could become a super saiyan was just a regular super saiyan and NOT what the type of super saiyan that Broly has.
They basically just used the word Legendary in different ways between Goku and Broly, not calling them the same legendary super saiyan.
Even in DBS Broly Vegeta said that Broly must be the legendary super saiyan that his father talked about but not the same legendary super saiyan that started a rebellion and was eventually killed by the regular saiyans, because the berserk legendary super saiyan would have merked ALL of the regular saiyans that opposed him.
I like to see Broly and Kale's super saiyan as a legend among legends. A being of unrivaled power, not the legendary super saiyan, but something above that.

So, the summary is that in the actual What If part, if Goku was the Legendary Super Saiyan, he would be in the Elite Capsule Area, and Bardock and Gine wouldn't be able to send Goku away because no one can see their child other than King Vegeta if the child is in the Elite Capsule Area. Making Goku also die with Planet Vegeta. Basically, making Goku special, just presents a much bigger issue.

Essentially making him born with the potential for Ultra Instinct. And instead of the random white hair, it would just be a strange sense of calmess around Goku. This incomplete UI would appear in short bursts throughout his life, and I would have him die in the Raditz saga when he overuses it and destroys his body, but holds Raditz down while he's dying for Piccolo to finish off Raditz. Then the Saiyan Saga goes on as normal until the Namek Saga, where when Goku unleashes the Spirit Bomb, Frieza is able to throw it back with his power alone, and the Spirit Bomb causes Goku to go into a less incomplete version of UI Omen that has a thin blue aura around him, and when his body inevitably breaks down, and Frieza taunts him, he goes Super Saiyan and with Frieza being weakened by his pseudo UI, completely dominates Frieza hand over fist. That's what happens up to the Namek Saga.

He would've had 0 of the whis training, and with the Namek saga, he'd just die if he got hit by the spirit bomb. He wouldn't have had the necessary training or experience he did in dbs. In dbs the spirit bomb acted like a catalyst because he had the training and experience.

Fun fact Gogeta base is Goku blue’s level because when he goes ssj it’s a x50 multiplier and broly’s Ikari form is on par with blue but when he combines it with ssj he also gets a x50 multiplier that’s why both of them in ssj were equal in the movie but broly does have openings against someone as strong or stronger than him
To be honest I've always thought it was odd, cause if you go by their legends, and I mean when Yamoshi took on the god form he was pure of heart while the other Saiyan's were pure rage. So what I assume would be is Goku being pure of heart unlocked the Legendary Super Saiyan that Yamoshi was aka the pure heart saiyan and where Broly has the Rage Legendary Super Saiyan, the reason why I put Rage on it is simple because Broly and Kale go into a Berserker state rather than a calm state in which Goku was enraged but he still had his mind in tact, and it leads me to believe there are two different Legendary Super Saiyan States rather than one. The Good State and the Evil State, one wishes to have control over their mind but still have an increase in their power, and the other is just a pure raged wanting to ensue chaos and kill whatever is blocking their path. It was shown in the DBS: Broly movie, seeing as Goku and Vegeta lead Broly to Freeza which made him switch targets, and it shown in DBS: ToP as well when Goku enraged Kale and she went for anyone in her way. It's a nice thought, but who knows if that is truly what Toriyama had planned or simple went with it, anyways that's my two cents lol.
So, it's not even going with the original Broly route where the berserker power allowed him to somehow shield himself from the blast and escape to another planet? Although it might be kinda interesting to talk about the importance of training, with Dragon Ball being mostly about anyone being capable of achieving great feats with enough effort.... TBH, this video feels more like an elaborate way to say that you are not interested in exploring this specific What If, rather than an actual attempt of it.
I mean sure, Broly's power is maximum, but it doesn't come without its own perils. Like, there is this whole uncontrollable beast element to it, which could go hand in hand with how Goku accidentally killed Gohan with the Oozaru.... But rather than treating that as a single instance of carelessness, you could possibly make that the main theme of this What if, exploring the theme of self control. But this time, instead of just rushing between arc to arc, there could be a more personal element to it with a focus on how this little legendary power would change Goku's relationship with the people from dragon ball and onwards.
But yeah, this is just a suggestion. If one wants to write a story, one can always find a way to do it... Doe, it's alright if you dont want to explore more than this too.

How I understand it:
Goku is the Legendary "Super Saiyan"
Broly and Kale are have a "Legendary Super Saiyan" transformation.
Just like how we have different SSJ transformations, such as: SSJ, SSJ2-4, SSG and SSB. We also have "Legendary Super Saiyan" aka LSSJ.
There's something interesting about Broly's forms, in that they seem to have some sort of connection to the Oozaru form. Broly's difficulty with controlling himself when he gets enraged is similar to the average Saiyan's difficulty controlling themselves when becoming an Oozaru, and his Ikari form as far as I have heard shares a similar multiplier of 10x, just like the Oozaru form. It seems like Broly's Ikari form is basically just a mutated Oozaru form in which he doesn't transform completely but experiences equivalent side effects.
GT, on the other hand, can be considered a divergent timeline. It's own separate canon. Nonetheless, it does feature the Super Saiyan 4 form, which technically isn't Super Saiyan "4", but an alternative branch of Super Saiyan. It's achieved by transforming into a Golden Oozaru, and then gaining control over the form. If you interpret Golden Oozaru as Oozaru, but Super Saiyan, then Super Saiyan 4 becomes more of a "Max Potential" Super Saiyan. It's the same thing as SSJ1, but being used by a Saiyan using every last bit of their Saiyan potential.
This leaves us with a bit of a conundrum in which Broly going into his Ikari form and then going Super Saiyan on top of that is really close to the same thing as Super Saiyan 4. Theoretically, Goku and Vegeta should be capable of a far greater power if they were to apply their Super Saiyan Blue forms to their Oozaru state, but unless they wish for their tails back this is unlikely to ever happen, and it's debatable whether it would exceed forms such as Ultra Instinct anyway.

At moments it was low and at others it seemed incredible.
So if Goku is sent off and he's in a moment when his power level isn't being seen as high by a scouter he could potentially sneak away. But only IF everything goes his way.
But that would require a bit of bending to the believability of the story.
Toriyama is known for making things convinient, hell he even created the super saiyan just to "save time coloring his hair and an easy explanation that Goku became stronger". So that could actually happen.

Considering Goku is the only full blooded Saiyan to reach all levels of super Saiyan and mastered levels of the tiers of each level 1 to 3 and super Saiyan 4, on top of God and blue to Maui, he is the legendary Saiyan

I’d like to think that:
All beings with saiyan biology can have the basic super saiyan, but then few saiyans (Broly and Kale) can extend their power further to the Legendary Super Saiyan form through their raw potential.
Broly can do this as we see him with a golden haired form (super saiyan) and a green haired form (Legendary Super Saiyan). I don’t believe that in the movie he combined Wrathful with Super Saiyan, more so the Super Saiyan form took over the Wrathful form and the loss of pupils was a result of the extra rage supplied by the Wrathful form on top of Paragus’s death
Then there’s Kale. She is a special case but I feel there’s an explanation. Remember that U6 saiyans and U7 saiyans are not the exact same. U6 saiyans evolved past the need for tails and their potential as fighters increased through their species evolution, hence Caulifla was able to go Super Saiyan 2 so quickly after having only just unlocked Super Saiyan. My theory is that due to this advanced saiyan evolution, the Legendary Super Saiyan (that being Kale) would have even more potential, and their forms would have a differing look to them by having a green tint to all of them, kinda making them more powerful Super Saiyan forms, while the un-evolved U7 Legendary Super Saiyan (that being Broly) still has a basic Super Saiyan form but can access the more potent Legendary Super Saiyan

After his death, Yamoshi's spirit searched for six pure-hearted Saiyans to create a ceremony to give birth to the first Super Saiyan God. Wow, I actually didn't know it was completely misconcepted. Toriyama sure had very complicated writing about the Super Saiyan, not very consistent for the story. After you cleared everything about the concept of Super Saiyan. I dreadfully apologize for wasting your time.
So instead of giving us a really cool what-if of Goku having the crazy rage power of Broly, you instead spent most of the video yapping about inconsistencies in the lore and ended it with Everybody, including Goku dying on Planet Vegeta. Basically a waste of time and roughly 10 minutes of our lives we will never get back. Thanks for the snoozefest I guess.

The way I looked at it was broly was/is THE legendary super saiyan while goku is A super saiyan. Meanin the legend was what it was because of what is required for a regular saiyan to become a super saiyan. They have to be a good person basically. It’s already been confirmed that kind hearted saiyans are stronger an the saiyan race basically thrived on bein the exact opposite. Anyone could become a super saiyan but none of them ever did however every 1,000 years an exception is born. A saiyan able to achieve the form regardless of the purity of their heart. The legendary super saiyan. I know this isn’t how it works since goku was apparently canonically dubbed the legendary super saiyan I guess idk I didn’t see that but I wouldn’t argue with someone more knowledge about the lore than myself, I’m just sayin how it always made sense to me.

So a discussion about the "Legendary Super Saiyan" is just regular SSJ. Plus the idea of Goku having Broly's potential is bad idea, because he can't leave the planet or he's not a low class warriors with a low power level cool.
