FINALLY someone who does ending shots correctly. Plenty of good footage of the final product is what we want to see! So many people put such hard work into their pieces, but fail to show enough of that juicy footage of the end result. Thanks for giving the people what they want!
Also, hooray for no coloured lighting! It's so weird to see so many hobbyists spend so much time and effort painting models and editing videos... to then drown their efforts in some other colour in their then monochrome "glamour" shot.
Love it. Good change up from regular minis. Re the brightness of the tiles/shingles I thing there is a historical misunderstanding that everything in the old days looked old. Of course it didn't. It was brand new and people back them liked bright colours as much as us. Remember all those greek and roman statues were painted bright colours. Sure peaseants couldn't afford rich purple or blue colours but they'd have splashed out where they could. The 90s "red" era GW schemes weren't too far off! Not everything is grim dark.
Mate! Thank you so much! You’ve made my week 🙏🙌 I really appreciate the generosity and support 🤝 Merry Christmas and I hope you have a wonderful New Year 🍻
@@anvilofdoomminiatures No worries man, checking off a bucket list item to be called "Mate" by an Aussie lol (I hope I correctly interrupted the accent). Looking forward to whatever future content you do!
The Fortified Manor is a great kit and you did it justice. Here in England if you are watching carefully Nov/Dec 2024 the Fortified Manor availability comes into stock only on the GW website for say 3 days and then it's out of stock after this period, the 3rd party retailers who offer a discount haven't had it in stock in about 5-6 months I believe here in the UK; so there are supply side issues. The Fortified Manor is The Old World Sigmarite Chapel and the Empire Watchtower with some unique extras to this kit, namely the middle section small building which connects the two forementioned buildings and also the front walls and their gate.
I love this channel. The pace is of the video is relentless, the music always gets me pumped, and the narration is instructive and motivational. Best wishes to you and your loved ones for the new year Dieter! Cheers from Belgium
Might I recommend Acrylic Tile Grout. You can find it at just about any Home Improvement type place, comes in a large bucket type container and is already pre-mixed. And very inexpensive!! About the only thing you might need to do is add a bit of water to thin it down if you desire.
“Rub it off with a wet finger and carry on” is my new favourite Deets quote. 😂😅 Mate this turned out absolutely killer!! Can’t wait to see how you incorporate it into an Armies on Parade… with that said, thoughts and prayers if you go for AoP next year 🤣. Awesome work on the content this year Deets! Keep it up mate 👍🏼
Haha old mate wet fingers over here 😆 thanks so much man! I’m glad you approve 🙌 I probably won’t have the army finished for another 5 years so maybe AoP 2030 😂
One thing that I've done for stone work is a prime in a medium grey, then pick 3-5 different paints that are relatively bright and just randomly stipple them over the stonework areas with overlaps until you have about 90-95% coverage, then you wash dark (I used a brown/black acryllic ink wash with 2 parts burnt umber, 1 part black, 4 parts water) over the entire thing, then went with drybrushes...a cool off white and a warm off white, then having a more detail focused white drybrush for some detail work that I want to stand out. Most recent ones with it were Warlords Stone Bridge (a great, cheap plastic terrain piece that fits pretty much any battlefield) and Tabletop Workshops Chapel...
Beautiful work! I love how you gave it all a unified look. There's so much potential that I reckon it's going to be fun to game with -- just looking at what you've made makes me imagine a undead spawn-point, goblin snipers, ratties busting out of hidden tunnels, and so much more!
For your bulk scenery painting go to a DIY store and get tester pots you know the mini pots of paint you use when decorating your home? Most are matt and water based. Dirt cheap and there will be natural shades, believe me as I’ve done it myself dozens of times. In fact your diy store is home to more stuff you can use than you realise, just have an open mind and be imaginative! Wood filler, carpet tiles, coir doormats, polystyrene, yacht varnish, PVA, boards, etc etc…..
if you want to ram home a glowing sub surface warpstone look i suggest putting bright lights under that green foam or if you want to do glowing necron tomb terrain
Really amazing job! It was fun to hear about the whole process (including the mistakes/what you didn't like). And of course the finished board looks great! The sandstone wall texture is super nicely done.
Beautiful work! You really did this piece justice! BTW, here's a little old-school tip for a cheap wash: water-based wood stain. I've used it even with miniatures, but it really shines as a big piece wash, like terrain and/or vehicles. Most wood stains are a bit thick, but nothing that a little water and a few drops of dish soap don't fix, just adjust the proportions according to thd project at hand. Hope this helps, and may 2025 be a great year for you and your channel 🎉
5:00 Looks TRULY Amazing the WALL! The Sponging Technique is also cool! I have to test that for my Bolt Action Cromwell as well as for my Heresy Sons of Horus! Oldworld and Mordheim is the BEST!
Love the bright roof and stone in particular. Reminiscent of the buildings on the back of the Mike McVey 'Eavy Metal Painting guide in the 90's even though they were just card. I also like to think there was a period in the Empire where it was a bit more of that shinning city on the hill. End-time events have have no doubt dulled things a bit in later years. Anyway, next level and you're a legend for even undertaking a project of this scale.
That turned out really awesome. Love the effects from the sponge and using the wall filler, sand and pva glue combo turned out really well. I have yet to tackle my fortified manor kit as I have been busy painting up minis first but when I do I’ll be coming back to rewatch and cherry pick from your techniques and colours used
This project must have taken a lot of time and passion but it all shines through! The final result is a great diorama. I am so happy I found your channel Deets, every video spins some new ideas for future projects. Thank you and I hope you are spending a great time during the Christmas holidays
All my projects are 90% oldhammer. I enjoy your videos and definitely have given me great ideas and motivation. Thanks for doing these! Now I have to get the Manor...
Amazing video! It looks stunning! The only thing I would recommend is using a mask when working with xps foam, specially when cutting it and sanding it.
i like your board. it is a great display piece. i would have suggested using a mdf board and turned the foam into a small hill the manor was on so it could be use as part of your table. the other idea i would us is make pieces to butt up to your display board so you can use it while playing
Thanks mate! Great ideas 👍 I might build another one and butt it up against it. Maybe a village connecting on the front path and then keep expanding it
Suggestion: I would recommend dry brushing before you wash then do a lesser dry brush after. It gives you the depth and color layers while keeping the dry brush from popping a little too contrasty (although some people do like that look)
Absolutely brilliant video! Really inspiring, especially as someone who (nostalgia-fuelled) ordered one on day 1 and has occasionally given it an awkward glance since. Goal for 2025 - get this thing built (and try your sponging technique - looked ace!!) PS - Averland schemes are the best 😊
Looks the buisness mate!! Would love to see more terrain and tbf now you’ve started that. It will be easier to just add onto it with more foam etc could continue making the fields, little houses, woods etc! Keep up the fantastic work
This was great, and I could easily watch more. I think the part about the grass isn't so bad, as when I do bases I imagine that the grass is being trodden upon, it's wet with rain, something like that.
Looks good mate, you can knock together a static grass applicator for a few bucks. Luke Towan has a pretty well engineered how to if I remember correctly.
You've given me some great ideas for the Osgilliath set I bought. I want to be able to use it in multiple settings, like conquistadors int he America's and medieval Europe, not just Middle Earth.

Sponge technique looks bloody great Deets. Works perfectly for that style of building
Cheers mate, I’m glad you think so! 🙌
Looks amazing and such a cohesive piece once it was finished 10/10

Love the sandstone and terra cotta colours! I'm turning all my left over Christmas packaging into a mini village, and I'll deffo yoink that look :D
good job Dietz
I did the old manor house back in the day and LOVED that model. I built it for a store's collection so it got lots of use. :-)
I love all the detailing and customization you did to this. Excellent work!
One of the best diorama videos I've seen. Really really good step by step guide I actually think I could replicate. Top work mate!

Maybe someone said it but I’ll say it again. You can use sprue bits as cobble stones. Great final product!

Looks great. You put far more effort into it than I would have.
Great vid and end result! Really love the touches of more vibrant colours - makes the whole thing pop and gives it that great old school feel!
Wow Deets, words cannot begin to express how impressive that is, truly inspirational Sir,
Thanks mate!
Great looking project and wonderful video! Thanks homie!
Appreciate it! Thanks mate!
Great example what can be achieved simple techniques and some tough graft. Great job!
Thanks mate!
Really amazing job! It was fun to hear about the whole process (including the mistakes/what you didn't like). And of course the finished board looks great! The sandstone wall texture is super nicely done.
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it!
It looks incredible, can't wait to follow your paint scheme for my own manor!
this is awesome, you rly went a step above making a whole board for the thing, good stuff.
If you want the wash to flow into the cracks better, add some glaze medium, not just water.
I stumbled across this and I'm super excited to see it because this gonna help me with my board. Thank you!! Glad I found this channel.
I’m glad it will help! Goodluck with your board mate 🙌
Great effort mate, looks awesome. This video has convinced me to get one of the Manor kits 👍
You should be proud of it, it looks amazing 💪
Always up for more terrain and dioramas 🙂
Cheers mate!
This turned out awesome Deetz!
The wall textures created from the sponging are amazing. I also love how the stone turned out. Can't wait to watch more videos!
Cheers mate! 🙌
Looks phenomenal. Great work!
Thanks mate!
Looks stunning, what a treat
Outstanding!!! I have to do this kit as well and will be using some of the techniques you cover. Love the filler/pva/sand mixture as well.
Wow you Manor looks awesome m8 🔥
Cheers mate, I appreciate it! 🙌
Awesome as usual, I’ll be rewatching this one when I tackle the manor but i think I’ll magnetise some of the pieces to make it more modular
Deets! You did great!! ❤❤❤
Thanks mate! 🙌🙏

Glad you like it! Thanks for all the support this year mate! I really appreciate it.
Takes me back to putting together mdf building dioramas for some friends I did interior and exterior it was a endeavor.
Inspiring, and a huge effort to get this one done so well
Awesome! This looks very inspiring and puts me in the game world right away :)
Incredible work - wow!
Looks great, well done.
Looks amazing! When you wash the roof tiles you could try holding the model upside down so the wash runs into the cracks easier.
Woah! Well done!

Hands down one of my favorite painters on TH-cam would you be interested in doing more classic 40K on the channel I would definitely watch and like
Thanks mate! I appreciate it. I definitely want to paint a few more classic 40k minis in the new year 🙌
Really nice project. I would love to see some of the minies you painted on and around this diorama.
Never mind. They are there in the last shots!
Love this. Congratulations sir!
