  • Nylon or PolyAmide filament is a great functional filament known for its strength & durability; however, it’s also notorious for being difficult to print with the main issues being excess warping or stringing.
I’ve printed with many various types of Nylons with different fillings, so I hoped to share some of the things I learned the hard way, so y’all won’t have to deal with the headaches I had to overcome.
All this said the tips I mention in this video can also be applied to help you troubleshoot issues like “how to fix warping” or “how to improve print success rate” as printing with Nylon requires you to have at least a decent understanding of how various setting in a slicer affects the print/filament.
Even though Nylon is sometimes seen as an challenge it’s actually quite simple to print once you grasp how it likes to behave & what temps work best for a particular type of Nylon.
So here are my 10 tips to help you 3D print with Nylon:
    0:00 Intro
    0:11 1) Thick & Slow 1st layer
    0:36 2) Dry Nylon Thoroughly
    1:15 3) Print out of a Dry-Box
    2:24 4) Add/Reduce Walls or Infill
3:03 5) Print in an Enclosure
    3:24 6) Use a Draft-Shield
4:01 7) Print in Warm Ambient Air
    4:37 8) Bed Adhesion Additives
    5:14 9) Carbon Fiber & Glass Fiber
5:52 10) Dry even "Fresh" Nylon

I just started to print with carbon fiber nylon. Been a really big learning experience for me. But I have my printer in an enclosure, non heated just relying on the heat generated from the printer. Plus I dry my filiment for 24hrs at 70°c before printing and also while printing. Plus I print slow and use vision minor adhesive. The print I am attempting is requiring 3 walls and 100% infill. There is still slight warping. Other than that, the print comes out beautiful! Would I benefit from a heated chamber? A draft shield? Or both? Thanks in advance.

so i have been fighting post print warping for a while now on larger prints. i have great bed adhesion to the point where the print will taco my magnetic bed when cooling. any tips to help solve that? it stays nice and flat throughout the whole print it only goes south when the print is done and cooling. i do have an enclosed creality k1 and i have the print cooling turned off and the enclosure ventilation fan also turned off.

so you are saying we only print in vase mode less wall no infill 🤣🤣, by the way only best result on the draft shield part inside never comes close to smooth as draft shield

Ask & you shall receive 😉
Was waiting for my ultra-wide lens to come in so I could now do both horizontal & vertical videos 🤘

Hmmm, sounds like a pain in the ass. I'll stick with PETG.

It definitely can be & although I love PETG it can’t survive inside the engine bay like High Temp Nylon can with a good bit of wear resistances ASA/ABS works to but it also has about the same problems as nylon but its layer adhesion ain’t as strong

    jeezes this filament sucks!
