@gl cartmi Right about the range. Some of them feel like you could throw a rock 50 feet and do more damage.
The length indicated on the packaging is for the fully extended cartridge after it was fired. Because this is how big your chamber actually hast o be in order to encapsule the round. So when you take one out of the package its going to be shorter than what it says on the package.
Isn’t this the sort of thing gun owners should absolutely know? Especially if they are also modifying their guns?? Or putting evidence of their “knowledge” on TH-cam???

Crazy lunatics are less likely to follow through with all the necessary steps to getting and keeping a heavily restricted firearm. Hence the dearth of crimes committed with automatic weapons save by cops with department-issued weapons. While such a system couldn't be practically scaled up to all firearms in the country, the principle is sound enough.
Right that darn $200 tax stamp
@georgewashington7083 but it's really not sound at all lol. Most of those laws around SBRs and SBSs and AOWs etc, are nonsensical and follow almost no logic at all to the point even the ATF cant even keep up with all their bullshit and whats considered a pistol or sbr or rifle, plus, most criminals do NOT follow those laws AT ALL, as they're so incredibly easy to get around and modify yourself to turn something into a SBR or SBS or pistol. Hi there,
I'm from Poland. We do have much stricter gun laws in here, but there are some aspects you could envy us. Once you got your licence you can buy gun with any barrel length you desire. My first shotgun has no stock (only pistol grip) and 10 inch barrel. No additional paperwork required. Same thing with silencers - you do not need a gun permit to buy one. You do not even need to be 18yo.
In Panama you just get a permit and you can buy 10 guns, and you can get more permits for 10 guns each. They don't care if they're "assault rifles" or the barrel length, or shotguns or pistols. You do have to register each one I think, and ammo is a little bit restricted by availability and price. But Panama has fairly cool gun laws.
Nice
It's time to move!😅
Hi friend from Poland. Love you guys! Some of us know our history and remember Casimir Pulaski, or some of your own history and really admire your great country. But what you don't realize about our gun laws is they have nothing to do with safety or crime. We are guaranteed our right to own guns, but an element of our country hates that right and tries to get around it any way they can. That results in some truly strange laws that have no apparent purpose. They're only there to make it hard for us to own guns and still comply with the law. For our Freedom and Yours!
That’s actually pretty cool

FYI the 2-3/4" shell is measured prior to packing/crimping, that extra 1/2" is the part of the shell that's folded in over the front. They're measured that way because depending on the gun, once the shell is expanded it may not eject properly if the chamber isn't long enough. I ran into this issue with a taurus judge last year, where the revolver chamber could no longer rotate after the shell had been fired because it expanded past the chamber and into the barrel.

You really ought to have show the 28" barrel one at another gel block to see just how much penetration you lost with the shorty. Also it's pretty amazing how _little_ spread was gained through the first three cuts, then how _much_ was lost with the final one. Makes me wonder what a 3", 4", 5" or 6" barrel would do to it.
That should be when he took out the forcing cone I think. (The part Vang Comp elongates when you send your barrel in to them)
Yeah he should have been shooting farther to test before each cut, the forcing cone was intact and still held the initial pattern constant..... the longer barrel (especially if tapered throughout) keeps that shot column from bursting in diameter after the squeeze (longer time to get and stay steady). So a longer barrel *should* group way tighter but not within two paces. It's hard to explain the squid effect, like a parachute.
I also imagine a choke would change things drastically at the different lengths.

"you gotta remember that the ATF is an extension of the IRS."
That shit expanded my brain, ladies and gentlemen.
Not really, no. It may have started out that way (before there was an IRS, and before ATF was ATF), but that's really not accurate. ATF is Department of Justice. It really was never the ATF until it left the Treasury. The argument that it has much of anything to do with revenue doesn't make a lot of sense (although you could say it did back when $200 was a lot of money, that was really more about keeping guns out of the hands of regular Americans than about making money).
Try doing work for an IRS man and then having him rip you off and refuse to pay for the extra work he had you do. You realize that these Orange man hating folks that work for the IRS are seriously crooked individuals. I asked him if he thought the IRS would target conservatives again like they did under Obama, he said the IRS has never been an impartial agency and he had elected officials dead to rights on obvious tax fraud and was told by his superiors to cease and desist on those cases. Pretty eye opening experience.
@@reliantncc1864 The ATF isn't actually an extension of the IRS but it might as well be because most of what they do is make sure people pay their taxes on NFA items and arrest those who don't.

If extreme spreading is what you’re after you can just cut one to 8in and throw Remington express 2&3/4 12 pellet 00 in it. The chamber pressure is the highest and the pressure drops as the shot column travels down the barrel. It’s still so high the cardboard discs behind the shot blow the shot apart 40in spread at 12ft and can be extrapolated. However the pellets miss and that’s not what most people want.

Near-maximum velocity in tests is usually achieved by the 60cm mark (in 12-bore caliber). As far as spread is concerned the tests by the Greener company indicate that shotguns gain around 2% less spread per 2 inches of barrel ( ~5cm). The bibliography for the test can be found online. However an important parameter to shotgun barrel lenght is fitting to the shooter. Depending on the biometrics of a person, they might shoot better with a 71cm barrel than a 66cm one etc. In the end, provided a barrel is longer than a sensible minimum, its all personal preference from there, or a matter of intented use. Has to be said this is all based on shooting shot. Slug shooting has whole different parameters and usually benefits from short barrels (50-60cm)

This is correct. The shell length and chamber are the same. If you use a 2 3/4" shell in a 2 2/2" chambered barrel the chamber pressure will be too high and will eventually cause a big problem. Be safe Sir.
Of all the homemade shotgun shell videos Matt has posted I’m shocked he didn’t know shells are measured like that
I'm not...
I was shocked to see how slow he was to figure out that was buckshot buffer... silica gel? Really Matt? 😔

I expected this video to get wilder every minute and was still very surprised
Matt with extreme dragon’s breath. Priceless 😂
Brotha I really thought this was a video from years ago with as homey and familiar it felt (haven’t watched much since before the big resort) and to see you’re still the same amazing personality you were 7 years ago is just warming
The white material that imbedded itself to the surface of the ballistic gel block is called “shot buffering” and its purpose is to take up space in the payload portion of a shotgun shell. Additionally buffering helps prevent shot deformation as it travels down the barrel and the first couple of feet after the shot exits barrel while the shot string is lengthening in flight
So it is essentially functions like a type of sabot... thanks
man this guy is so charismatic!
Well this was certainly fun and educational. 👍👍

Fun fact, the smaller your illegal possessions are the harder they are for law enforcement to find.
That's why i started collecting children!
Thank you Hadrian for looking out for us 🤠👍🏻

Don't doubt it with a pfp like that.
@@emperorhadrian6011 that made me feel upset. I will not share my bag of skittles with you.
In the intro, it sounds like a demon doesn't want the King of Demolitia to own its sanctum
Ha ha! The"Belly Buck Shot" looks like the Bic logo at 7:20
Fun fact: the stated length of a shotgun shell is actually the length of the chamber or a fired/empty shell. The shell will be closer to the stated length once it's fired and the crimp opens up.
Fun fact No. 2: Matt needs a chrono.
No chromo.
