      We enjoyed the drive up there because it was so different than the rest of the island. If you’re going from Kona to Hilo the drive to the visitors center doesn’t take long at all!

      There is cell reception at the Waipi'o Valley Overlook, but not down in the valley. 100% cell coverage at Akaka.
      Btw the valley is closed to the public currently (April 2023) due to land disputes among some of the local families.

      @@rummysmix2475 Yep, the overlook is open! Get there in the morning for the best views and to avoid the rain. Alternatively, you could try Polulū Valley. Nice overlook and 1ish mile trail down to the black sand beach. No land issues here! Again, best in the morning. Have fun!

    This is a GREAT video! If you do a Part 2 put Kua Bay, 2 Step, Pohoiki Ponds and Kehena Beach. Btw it is pronounced Mauna (KAY-A) and it is Kaumana Caves. Obviously you can't edit the video but in case others want to know. We are still adapting to some of the pronunciations. Well done.

    Do you recommend bringing flashlights when returning to Volcanoes National Park after sunset? And do you know if there is currently visible lava flow to view?

    • @AdamandMadalyn
      @AdamandMadalyn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Flashlights are certainly helpful as it is dark there. I think we used the light on our phone and were ok, because a lot of other people had flashlights so it wasn't totally dark.
      Also, we believe you can still see the lava flow, but the best thing to do is check the Volcanoes National Park NPS.gov website, reach out to them there and then when you get to the park stop at the Volcano House and see if staff there can direct you where to go. When we were there it was Devastation Trail. If you're there during the day the visitors center will be open and they can give you advice about night.
      Also, don't skip the overlook and seeing the lava glow at night. You can't see the lava glow as well when you're looking at the lava lake.

    and which island is the most gorgeous in terms of natural landscape and natural scenery

    • @AdamandMadalyn
      @AdamandMadalyn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We didn’t visit Kauai but it is the oldest island with the most dramatic scenery. Oahu is most densely populated so probably the least dramatic for scenery. North end of Maui is very scenic and the Road to Hana is unreal. Probably Maui or Kauai for natural scenery.

    What is yalls favorite hawaiian island

    • @AdamandMadalyn
      @AdamandMadalyn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a tough question…we only visited 3 and liked all 3 for different reasons. If we had to recommend one island for exploring, we’d probably recommend the Big Island. It has volcanoes, rainforests, mountains, great beaches, and some really nice places to stay. Of course you can pretty much say that about all the islands but Kilauea being active puts it over the top.

    “E’s” are pronounced as A and a’s are pronounced as uh.
    Mauna KAY - UH Go to top and watch sunrise.
    Waipio valley access is now closed.
    Kona Joe’s Coffee 🤙🏽
    Green sand beach-don’t waste your time. If you do go, wear shoes-no slippas! Auntie will give you a ride for a price.
    See Ola Brewing 🍺 in Kona
    And yes, the island is very livable but get used to stupid!
    Hawai’i is and second world country and just about everything here is 50-75 years behind the mainland.
    A wonderful place to visit as long as you respect the locals.
