Wow! Great video! My wife and i going in May. For the most part we're going to wing it as far as exploring without all the 'touristy' things that can be done. We have a few out of the way places on our list to do but the Shaka tour seems pretty interesting. Looks almost like you had the Big Island to yourselves!

Winging it works on the Big Island - there is so much to do but no big "must sees". We did feel like we had it to ourselves, I hope it's like that when you go. Have fun!
How was the drive up the volcano? Are there any restrictions about which time of day you can go? Or is booking a spot required?
The drive up to the Mauna Kea Visitor center is beautiful, and easy. That's what we did. To get to the summit of the volcano you must have a 4 wheel drive vehicle or be on organized tour, it's a rough road.
