I was also one of 8 full price launch ambassador owners. Upgraded to the New 3DS years later and love switching out all my faceplates based on ny mood or the season.
My all time favorite nintendo 3ds game is definitely yokai watch. It’s monster collector type game that’s set in japan. The soundtrack is also really good.
7:18 is actually wrong. 3DS runs GBA games natively. There is no emulation layer. W.r.t turning off console features, that's just cuz the 3DS "becomes" a GBA. It's not worth trying to run 2 OSs(kinda) simultaneously. They just didn't bother releasing GBA games because they were too "new". Re-releasing GB and GBC games were more valuable cuz they could use that for more brownie points.
The 3D feature was NEVER A GIMMICK that was the best part of it for me. I love that feature till this day, the New 3DS refined that feature further and boy that was awesome!!!
Adventure Time: Hey ice King! Why’d you steal our garbage? Is an awesome Zelda II inspired game, and one of my favorite 3DS games. And Heroes of Ruin is another I always have to recommend. Diablo style ARPG. Solid fun, great multiplayer action.
I'd welcome HD ports of Kid Icarus Uprising and Metroid Samus Returns for the Switch with Fusion mode and all the other Amiibo blocked content unlockable without the need for Amiibos.
I STILL have my 2011 Sky Blue 3DS in the draw! (The charging port is broken though unfortunately!), and my first games on the 3DS was Mario Kart 7 and Mario 3D Land. And those 2 was shamefully the first 2 Mario games I had on my own... I'm still using my red 2DS and currently Shiny hunting on there with Heart Gold.
You didn’t mention the New 3DS consoles had face tracking so the 3D function worked no matter how far/what angle you were looking at the screen from. Big upgrade
I have 2 3ds XL. Original hardware and New model. Have pert near 100 physical games. And a few digital games. I know modding it will give me them ALL. But I prefer physical and leave emulated games for my DSI XL and my two R4 carts. I play games with my Wii U and it interacts. Like Monster hunter 3 ultimate and Wii U MH 3 can play together. One on TV and other on 3ds screen. Kool. I love 3d also . Makes games different from steam. It can be turned down or off.
Fun fact, the 3DS had full Game Boy Advance backward compatibility thanks to the hardware needed for DS backward compatibility. 'Twas not software emulation 😊

True, but they can’t EMULATE it effectively, the virtual console is an emulator on the console and it doesn’t use the built in features. The reason GBA games didn’t release is because of the lack of system strength. :)
I got it to do with new and new xl like with ds I. But my thoughts of 3ds not the best. But surely have some best in series like Wii U. Still funny they went to 3D again after the 2end worst Nintendo console. But hey it have brother too along with sister. Lot have 5 re model for some reason.

Near the end of the Wii U's life, Nintendo was literally pumping shit. The 3ds had some misses but it was mostly Nintendo's saving grace in the 2010s.

I still play the 3DS, I always play on my 3DS during my lunch break, and I mean every lunch break this past month, it's a great stress reliever.

I DEFINITELY recommend Fire Emblem Awakening. I put over 500 hours into over 6 playthroughs - its such a special game
