  • The Trek Slash is more than just an Enduro race bike. It's a highly-refined speedster that broadens pace and possibilities on big trails and gravity runs - with climbing abilities to boot. See you the full review on www.bikenetwork.co.za

    I have the same colour way in my 9.9 slash I've had it for 19months now apart from grips and tyres the bike still remains the same it's by far the best bike I've ever had and by far the best I've ridden I'm 48 yrs old and weigh 15 stone but some how I feel like it gives me the confidence to ride like I rode when I was back in my 20's amazing bike and a great bike review

      @@SNS1212 worth every penny. God level bike. I also had temptation. Went for it and have 0 regrets. Fantastic bike that does everything. Sexy as hell in grey yellow. All in all incredible bike. It exceeded my expectations. But one thing you should be carefull is the bike size. The XL size is massive. Im 6.8 so its fine for me..i would say Xl would be to big for someone that isnt atleast 1.85 meter However i would suggest to grab one. You will regret if you dont. One thing is that this bike like high end bike that does great at everything including climbing. I had no expectations climbing but even with suspension not locked it climbes very well. Also it looks so amazing. All the eyes are on your bike. It looks very special. Basically 10/10 bike. 0 complaint at anything

      How is it on the trail I did a ride around the shop on a 22 9.8 xt and felt that it was big and sloppy. I am a small rider 5’5” test road a small and really did not have fun. I did love the remedy they put me on though. And the fuel gen 6 was fun but medium was a little too big

      @@yamahschector remedy is basically slash with 27.5 wheels. Slash is amazing in trails. It just shreds trails. Its an enduro/dh bike. Trails are piece of cake for that bike.

      How do you find it on the smaller stuff or a day on the trails without a shuttle? I'm looking to get one and where I am there isn't a lot of elevation but some trails do have a lot of gnarly rocks. I want to be able to do those longer days on slightly tame blues and blacks but then switch around and do some local gravity enduro races.

    • @Stockfish1511
      @Stockfish1511 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@makeshiftgamer5864 I also live in place where there is no elevation. But this bike is not for roads although it can do fine on roads. Everything from xc, trail, enduro and dh it just shreds. But know one thing, this bike is not for someone that enjoys calm rides in woods or local easy trails. If you want that and dont plan going hard i would suggest going for fuel ex instead. However if you like destroying trails, agressive rides and going fast on downhill without worrying about stuff or bike breaking, going down from rocky shit then slash all day. Imo you can never regret this bike unless you enjoy very calm and slow rides in woods. This bike is way to much suspension and geometry for that type of shit. It can do that, but its not its primary job. Its primary job is agressive terrain and agressive speed.

    First of all, great video and great bike. Just the one I was looking at. Did I understand correct that you’re exactly my height at 176cm and you would prefer to ride the 2022 Slash in a size L? Relative to my height I got a bit longer arms but a bit shorter legs, was actually looking at a size ML, I ride a Trek Rail in size L and that one has about the same dimensions also reach wise as the ML Slash. Don’t want to go to big with the Slash. I was thinking about having the bars cut down from 820 to 800 or probably even 780. Final question, would you go for the carbon 9.8 or pick the alloy 8? Would appreciate your feedback/thoughts.

    • @bikenetwork_SA
      @bikenetwork_SA  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you liked the video. Yes I am 1.76m and rode a size L. Remember the new bikes have a 35mm stem - so even though the reach numbers are bigger - they don't feel massive on the trail. Reality is you could make the ML or the L work for you. You'd be happy with either. I run 760mm bars on all my bikes - modern geometry brings a lot of stability to the ride feel so I feel super wide bars are no longer needed and negatively impact cornering, drops and jumping. Alloy 8 is a great buy but the 9.8 has a lighter wheelset. Go with what you can easily afford. - Myles

      Just to weigh in on this I was having the same question with sizing (I went for the 8 as I thought it was good value for that budget). I am 179 (so a little taller than yourself) and wasn't sure whether to go L or ML. I tried both yesterday and went for the L, it really doesn't feel as big as the geo would indicate, whereas the ML, despite having a longer reach than my current bike, felt more cramped. If you have long arms you don't want the ML. I'd agree that Trek sizes feel a little smaller than expected. And I will be cutting the bars down to 780 too.

    • @mseekles1972
      @mseekles1972 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@flippy66 Congrats on your new bike! good thing you were able to try both sizes, understand your choice for the L and I am sure I would be okay on a size L to, however the numbers on the ML really suit my dimensions and the way I would like to ride this bike. It’s not exactly that I have ape arms. Mostly just a bit shorter inseam. I have some other Trek bikes and the ML size is usually spot on for me. I was able to try a Slash 8 in size ML, felt good. Thats why I ordered the 9.8 XT battleship blue ML today. ETA September.

      @@mseekles1972 Thanks! I'm glad you were able to try it too. I was just surprised that the ML was smaller than I expected, as I was thinking it would be the best fit for me too, and was sceptical about going up to the L before I tried it. Congrats on yours too, hope the wait isn't too long!
