I have a Slash 8 and its a trail ripper, climbs well for an enduro bike and very snappy out of the box. Its very poppy too. I have the 2021 which came with the lyrik. Right now, I have a marzocchi bomber z1 coil fork up front. I don't recommend the assegai tire up front as this upgrade made the bike feel like a "bigger" bike and you can feel the extra rolling resistance on flow trails. I think I'll change to a dhf once these tires wear out.
Ya, the Assegai is a whole lot of tire; my Marin San Quentin came with them and I hated them; awful spec choice for a 27.5” hardtail! Wendy has the Bontrager SE5s on her Slash and they seem pretty solid, tread pattern is a bit of a mix between the DHF and DHRII
Great to see another happy Slash 8 owner 🥰 Been on mine +2yrs/5500km now and still loving it. As someone else mentioned, get those suspension pivot's greased and check all the bolt torque settings - will save you a lot of 'creaks' after the first few rides. Other than that, mine just eats brake pads, rear tyres (+ a few spokes) & chains LOL - the later being more preventative maintenance (still on the original drive-train). Colour looks amazing, and interesting to see a couple of the spec changes (Rear Shock & Fork, shorter cranks). You might find jumping rather entertaining, I've found with the quite progressive suspension - you need to commit to a jump / drive through your feet, if you half-ar$e it - it'll buck you (depending on your rebound / trails you ride with the jumps - mine are janky and have rebound 1/2). Have fun - looking forward to the follow-up vid's to come!!
So glad to hear you’ve been loving your Slash! Thanks for the tip on the suspension pivots! Good to know about jumping… that’s next on the test list so might have to document it! I’ve been working on full extension anyways so maybe it’ll be good for my jumping progression 😂😂
oh man that was awesome, i love the enthusiasm! nothing like new bike day! I've never been a huge Trek fan (for no particular reason) but that color is awesome, and the bike looks pretty rad! seems like you didn't dive too deep in to the tech specs tho... another video?? 🤙🤙
@@ridingwithjoshandwendy that’s great… it’s a special thing when you bond with a new bike. I can tell obviously you guys are as crazy about mtb as I am so I get it!
I'm in Central Oregon... also enjoyed your footage from Cline Butte! Those jumps there are pretty sketchy, even when conditions are good. Next time you're out at Horse Ridge, give Drago a try -- fast and fun!
I slept with my bike on my first bike day 😂. I had to sneak out at the middle of the night from my wife to sleep with my bike 🤫. That’s not cheating right
pls grease all the linkage, it will soon creak and make a lot of noise, those chinese from trek factory are too lazy to grease those links and pivots..

I missed my new corner bar yesterday as well and picked it up this morning. Can`t wait to put it on!

Right? I actually originally ordered a different color but they ran out of stock. I’m stoked on the matte blue/purple. It’s really unique!

I like it!!
Horse Ridge! Masha will put your bike to the test!
Yes it DID!! Haha we hadn’t ridden that trail on Horse Ridge yet and read “rocks and drops” on Trailforks and were sold! Are you in Bend?
I'm in Central Oregon... also enjoyed your footage from Cline Butte! Those jumps there are pretty sketchy, even when conditions are good. Next time you're out at Horse Ridge, give Drago a try -- fast and fun!
Good to know, thank you!!
Bust out the BBQ and some beers next time 😂 it would be so much more enjoyable
Hahaha yes 😂
I slept with my bike on my first bike day 😂. I had to sneak out at the middle of the night from my wife to sleep with my bike 🤫. That’s not cheating right
Hahaha nahhh not at all! She’s up on my wall so I’ve been just staring at her longingly whenever I’m not riding 😂
Hahh, sweet!! I stared at mine the whole winter and finally its summer 😍😍🚵♂️🚵
pls grease all the linkage, it will soon creak and make a lot of noise, those chinese from trek factory are too lazy to grease those links and pivots..
Good advice! Thank you and will do!
Do yourself a favor and get some 160 cranks.
Feeling that already for sure! Appreciate the tip!
I just bought a New Bike and had to wait a week....9 months is a P*&S Take....and for a Trek...Ha !
It was purchased trough their EP, so a long wait time is what you trade for 50% off MSRP haha
Excellent!! 🎸🎸🎸🎸
🤘🤘
