After the wash cycle is finished, there is standing water in the fabric softener compartment and does not drain. Although the hole is completely clean, the water needs to be dumped out and it causes mildew to build up unless it’s routinely scrubbed out and bleached.

My top loader washer dispensed softener just fine for it's first 4 years of life then slowly over the last year it's been full of water more and more to the point now that it is every time. Yes we have made sure that the holes are clear, they always are and yes I dilute my softener with water. Ideas? Thanks

@@My-hat Nope. seems to be a design flaw. I make sure I empty the water out of the tray and leave the lid open between washing to dry and avoid mildew.
Is it normal to not have a container for the detergrent? When i fill detergent in there and place back before closing, all the liquid jus plops right onto the clothes.
