@@DuctTapeMechanicMy question is Why my GE washer fill the water and right away out to the drain.? 😙 After finding a little sock on the pump I wondered maybe I put the motor pump switch upside down. The switch wire on the left is black the right is black and red. Or the other way. Both are positive. Because I had a tester but don't have knowledge in electric since they can go both way. Thanks.
@@ramosochoa418 I am fairly certain the connector can only go in one way. It is possible the pump was damaged from having the sock jammed in there. I would replace the pump as they are not that expensive
GE Service Tech here, if you can find out how to get the unit into service mode, you can run a few test to diagnosis the unit. GE Appliances may have that on the website. Most of the time, i find pump failures due to sand getting behind the pump impeller. Also, if your drain hose is to far down in the stand pipe and you have slow drainage, you can run into siphoning issues. A bad lid lock can also be problematic with any of the cycles too.
Solid advice! Yes getting into diagnostic mode is the best bet but I find the average person gets confused by error codes and deciphering blinking light so I try to make the troubleshooting as simple as possible.
@@missdesireindependance5194 $500?!? Seriously!!? I don’t think I’ve got $5, much less $500. My aunt gave me this washer about a year or two ago that she’d only had less than a yr. This is the 3rd time in a month it’s quit draining and spinning on me. I’ve basically just wiggled the hose the previous times, but this time, I’m really worried. I’m sure a $500 repair was still cheaper than a new washer. 😭🤦🏻♀️
Let me tell you. You are one of the magnificent reasons I call this poor man's college. I love you for this. Thank you all your efforts. I thank you for all the education you give me I thank you 💜💜💜
OMG you just saved me so much money. Thank you so much. We had a nylon strap from some outdoor gear that was stuck in the internal tube - just like the sock in your video. Our machine is now draining and working well. Thank you! Our machine is 20 years old, manufactured December 2004 but this video still applies.
Thank you! I didn't have a new washer in the budget this month, yikes! We watched your video and figured out the problem (it was stuffing from a dog bed)! Your tutorial was excellent and I'm so glad you started with the simple, non-electronic stuff first.
Great video and tutorials. I'm an ex-machine mechanic and have only ever had to fix a few things on washers/dryers. I was looking for some common issues and this was perfect
Quick question. Where did u see the pump ohm from 15-30? Mine says 13 and my actual pump is 31.5. So I’m assuming bad pump but if I go off ur range it’s not too far off and should work still
I basically have the same model washer as this one. Just in black. It seems to be draining okay, but if I select "Extra Rinse (soil)" on a cycle, sometimes it doesn't spin to completely drain properly. So I then run same load on "Drain & Spin" cycle. Today I noticed the same issue on that cycle....when it says spinning, half the time it doesn't. Then when it says "balancing" it'll keep adding more water again, and just stop on "balancing". What could the issue be? Do you have a video on that?
the water will drain when you disconnect the hose on the bottom. Hopefully not all over your house. I was lucky, mine went into the sump pump in my unfinished basement. and it was a kinked hose
@@DuctTapeMechanic I figured it out. The impeller in the drain pump was barely moving. I replaced it just now and it's going good. Thank you for the video.
Tried all 4 with no luck. 13.2 ohms on motor. All drains and pump are clear. 121.8 volts on Drain and spin when you hit the start button. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks for your awesome videos.
Honestly. The only thing left is to just replace the drain pump. It could have a mechanical failure. It's definitely worth replacing and seeing if it fixes the issue!
I'm having the same issue was it the pump? All 4 tests came in 16 ohms 120 volts on the drain and spin. Also hoses clear and no obstructions in drain pump
There was water in my drum and it wouldn’t spin out. You could hear clicking, as if it was trying to start, but then the machine turned off. So I unplugged her and let the water out, plugged her back in, and now she’s fine. Weird
My Temp/Soil/Spin buttons (GE GTW680BSJ6WS model) sometimes don't work (no matter how hard I press)...is that a motherboard issue and needs to be replaced?
Mine sometimes doesn’t drain doesn’t matter what mode i put on. I would have to wait a day then come back to put on drain and spin, then it would drain again
Mine is inconsistent too. But today it decided to not do anything. No matter what I do to reset it. No draining just filling. So tomorrow taking apart the drain hose and checking pump. Didn't find anything last time and it starting working again. Sure hope that fixes it this time. I'm about to give up and buy a bigger washer to help washing towels and king size sheets better.
Honestly, if you have verified there is no clog and you are getting 120v to the drain pump when the machine is on the drain and spring mode, I would go ahead and install a new pump. Sometimes, they can fail mechanically as well. Plus, they are not that expensive
@ Thank you. I checked everything and everything looks normal. I found out my washer was just stuck in drain cycle. By pressing and hold start/pause button for 5 seconds jump start the drain cycle. I waited for the cycle to be done, then everything starts to work as normal again. Thanks for your video as I was able to rule out few issues, which led me to my resolution.
@ It stopped working a week later. I was getting 120v to the pump, so I found out pump was the issue as you have suggested. I replaced the pump and voila! All is well again. Thanks for the very informative video and responses.
My washer wasn’t draining so I check all the things you did and nothing was wrong but the pump was saying 13ohms I tried running a load throw it and it filled then drained and gave me h2o supply error code what does that mean
There is a gap between the inner and outer tub. If you overload the washer, there is a chance something goes over the lip of the inner tub. Happens often!
Can you do a video on the “H20 SUPPLY” error on this model? GE isnt any help at all and id be better off buying a new one rather than getting a tech out here in the boonies. 😂

How do you check with the water still in the washer? With the first possible why.
the water will drain when you disconnect the hose on the bottom. Hopefully not all over your house. I was lucky, mine went into the sump pump in my unfinished basement. and it was a kinked hose
Get a bucket and empty it in the back
Use a shop vac on it. You might can rent one from home depo.
Hook up shop vac to the hose before detaching it…. That will take care of steps 1&3
