Just used this during a 300 mile sailing race. Great product once you get it fired up and have all the apps downloaded.
You have more money than sense. Get a radio ffs. The price of this thing is BRUTAL. The plan prices I mean, the handset isn't that bad, nor is the Go!.
@@BravoKiloZulu You have neither money nor sense. When you’re offshore and looking for wind speed, weather ahead, and want to make contact with a team back home, a radio does literally nothing for you. You’re outside of your depth, chief.

You had me until I saw what my local Iridium provider charges. $20 per minute sat phone to sat phone, $2 per minute to everything else, $0.55c per 155 character SMS, and data is charged as if it is a call, meaning if you have bad coverage and the data transmission takes 10 minutes your 100 character email just cost you $20. You could run up a BRUTAL bill just keeping in touch with family with this thing. I think I'll stick to radio. It's free.
You need a flip up thing on other side to throw the signal back out there just a small dish flip up and turn it right

Yes you can pre-pay for a certain period with a certain # of minutes.
Has anyone had an issue connecting to the iridium Go with a iPhone 11 or newer. The Wifi will not stay connected.

You can try but the latency would need to be increased in your connection so it can deal with the 2.4kbps dial up connection.
What prevents Apple & Google etc. from shutting down the app & access like they did to Parler?

Nothing but problems. Send it back. Spend 3 days back and forth with them with 2 iPhones. It was a hit or miss. Ale stick with the old Satelite phone. Hopefully they worked all the bugs out

No they do not and we dont give it to them when you sign up for service. You only give it to GEOs if you sign up for the included SOS services.

Yes you can use it Globally, just be sure to check your country restrictions.
So far my Iridium Go is a total POS $750 brick. The app constant crashes, logs you out for no reason, and getting the unit to send a Wifi signal is an art form, 0 Sats in open areas with no trees or buildings for miles......on and on. 5 bars? LOL good luck!
I agree ,I haven’t had any of those same issues but for phone calls it’s horrible !

Ridiculously slow internet. Often 20 or 30 minutes to get less than 100 k of weather data. Give me a break! Iridium Go = Iridium SLOW!
Everything else is wayyyy quicker. Even HF paccar modem.
for a 100KB GRIB weather file, we time the Iridium go at 3-4 minutes with a good external antenna. It is not intended as a general internet connection. It's made to give us little connection and when used with Predict Wind Offshore we have really good results.
Awesome technology! However, seems complicated to operate for someone who isn't tech savvy. I'd like to give this to a friend but he's 75 years old. He'd probably get frustrated and not use it.
I'd say if you are in a position where you need a satphone or a device like this, you have to be tech savy. It is like how nobody should sails into the middle of the ocean without knowing at least the basics of surviving a disaster and repairs to whatever you are on.
