    Your method to set up the Trim control is INCORRECT.
    The TRIM level should be adjusted PRIOR to setting the Master and Channel volumes
    BELOW IS THE CORRECT SEQUENCE :
    1. Make sure that the MASTER Volume, Trim and Channel volume levels are set to 0.
    A. If applicable adjust the volume of your instrument or device to the desired output level
    B.Play your instrument /device at the desired level
    C. Slowly turn the TRIM control clockwise until the signal/clip indicator glows green or just starts to flash yellow.
    If the indicator flashes red or glows steady red turn the TRIM control counter-clockwise to decrease the level.
    D. USE the input level meters( see page 29 in your manual ) in the Prefs menu to check your input levels.
    2. AFTER properly adjusting your TRIM level - Adjust your MASTER VOLUME to 12 o'clock position
    3. Slowly turn your CHANNEL VOLUME control clockwise until the volume reaches the desired level

      So that you get the maximum input level out of your instrument/source without clipping/distortion. Then you can adjust the volume with that healthy signal.
      I'd also wanna ask, why he plugged the 1/4 in the center of the XLR input, instead of the line input that fits to the 1/4 in the first place?

    Quick question... U use one of the plug from the base unit for the mixer, what about the other input on the base? Can you use that as well? That way you kinda got a 5 channel

      Yes, Channel 2 on the L1 Compact can take a Microphone. It has its own control (Bass/Treble) and Level there

    I knew the great BOSE era, the 802, the made in the USA, really fabulous and legendary. Here it breathes, it stinks of made in china. Research done, BOSE does not have a factory in China, it is all under contract and much too expensive compared to the cost of labor. In addition sound side ... it is not JBL (the brand of musicians for more than 50 years) brand at the origin of this bass cabinet + column configuration, a concept copied by everyone lacking creativity. The JBL EON is the benchmark. All the components of very high quality are manufactured by JBL including exceptional speakers which allow a perfect power handling during very long hours. Parameters very often forgotten in the test.

    • @pvmantra
      @pvmantra 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ideally, On L1 Compact's Channel 1, you have 2 other inputs - 3.5mm and RCA - all are additive.
      Thus you could connect and effectively mix
      - laptop sound output to 3.5mm and control its level on the laptop volume level,
      - iPod sound output to RCA (with a 3.5mm to RCA cable) and control its level on the iPod volume level
      - take T1 output and connect to L1's Channel 1, and control the volume level through T1 (which gets you ability to mix 3 inputs (XLRs/Line) + 1 Line in[4=L, 5=R) Or USB In routed through Line4/5
      - A microphone to Ch 2 on L1 Compact
      You can also take L1 Compact's output (1/4in or RCA) and connect to other speakers.

    Thanks for your informative videos. I have a Bose L1Compact with a Tonematch mixer, a Fender Princeton Chorus DSP amp, an SM57 mic and an MXL R80 Ribbon mic. I play a Fender strat with pedals (electric blues) and sing at a small venue, using my iPod loaded with backing tracks. I've been told to either mic up the amp directly with the MXL or ditch the amp and get an amp modeler instead (Line 6 Spider or Fender Mustang). Any ideas on a setup to get the best sound (comments welcome)?

      Yes, I think so. The HK Audio LUCAS series sounds pretty similar to Bose L1 (could compare this), so the tonematch would work well.
      WIth other systems it could be, that the sounds needs some tuning.

  • @poorringo
    @poorringo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does it need a power cable or does it plug into the Bose L1 for power??

    • @helmet165
      @helmet165 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It plugs into the Bose L1 model 2 stand for power. You can also purchase a dedicated power supply for like $35 if you are using it with something else.

    • @cammy85
      @cammy85 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need an extra power cable when plugging to the Compact as well as your sound cable since the Compact doesn't have a Tonematch port. Otherwise you just need the one cable.

    Not meaning to be rude but there are massively better and more flexible mixers out there for the money than the tonematch, you really are just paying for a badge. my money would be on an Allen & Heath (who are a legendary name in mixing consoles but price kit fairly). Also, mixer on first and off last otherwise you will get a thump through the speakers (as demonstrated in this video).

    • @helmet165
      @helmet165 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you're missing the point, this isn't just a mixer. It has compression, para eq, delay, reverb, chorus, flange, trem, tonematching your equipment, tuner, etc. It's not just a mixer, it's so much more.

    • @Si1983h
      @Si1983h 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +helmet165 It might have but it doesn't sound very good and has limited inputs and its mono only so even if you had a pair of L1s ( which is essential if you want a proper spread rather than it sounding like the audio is coming from one corner of the stage), you only get mono sound.

    • @jeffmilkey
      @jeffmilkey 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Unless you have spent a lot of time with the Tone Match you are kind speaking out of your rear end. I replaced a whole rack of gear with this equipment...you won't do that with an Allen and Heath Guaranteed... The compressor is great the effects are really great and the EQ is one of the best I have ever heard. I hate it when people give advice and have no clue....the only thing you got right is the lack of inputs...should be more than 5.

    • @Si1983h
      @Si1983h 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jeffrey Milkey I hate it when people assume you have no clue without knowing your credentials. I'm going to be blunt, the Bose L1 and tone match are crap, I've tried with them but they don't make the grade, no amount of built in toys will get past the fact that it sounds crap. I'm now using an Allen & Heath QU32, it'll eat the tone match for breakfast.... Come to think of it, so does my Zed 22fx.

    • @jeffmilkey
      @jeffmilkey 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One question Si1983h.....have you ever owned a Bose system in your life? You've tried with them? That's not even English...my guess is you had no idea how to setup the system. That would be my guess...what do you play death metal? Then you need lots of volume and bass to scream into your mic and get just the right distortion....I have played concerts with my system next to full blown concert sound systems and everyone told me the Bose was so much better to listen too...to each his own. My guess is your $50/gig a night gets you what you are using.

      @robfriedrich2822 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's compact, it's digital, you can store everything. Better EQ, the other 4 channel mixer could work, when you simply want to connect 2 microphones on the Bose L1 micro input and 2 line sources on the other input.

      Bose L1 compact has few Tonematch features. It is optimized for a SM 58 microphone and an acoustic guitar with magnet pickup. Tonematch offers more EQ presets, is a nice digital mixer.
      It's not so expensive.
      When I need to use some more microphones and want to connect some more sources to the line in, I would use a small stereo mixer.

      The funny thing is, when you hook up another speaker to the L1 compact output, the good guitar and microphone sound is noticeable too.
      When you want 360° you could use a LD systems MAUI 5 together with Bose L1 compact.
