  • I love being on the road with my and Band and Bose Professional. Making sure the band and I sound better than ever with the gear we utilize every day is paramount. In this video, I run through how we use the T8S mixer during live shows. I hope you enjoy and please feel free to reach out with any questions.

    Brilliant real world usage that means something to fellow musicians. Well done for a great video. I've just purchased a tS8 since i'm due to pick up a second hand F1 system this week. So looking forward to a really good sound

    Hello Paul. Thanks for putting this together. I'm confused on the Tonematch cable with the and T8S mixer. I plugged a Tonematch cable to my l1 8 pro and the mixer powered up. I could hear the mic and guitar. I had my keys plugged into ch 7 and 8 but could not hear them. I'll troubleshoot today, is the tonematch cable not compatible with the ts8?

    Great info. We have heard what I imagine is “ Clipping” but it’s a unique “ squeech” sound while playing. Do you ever encounter that.

    Thank you Paul! Is there a place to mount or set the T8 on the sub or should I get a separate mixer stand? I assume it aimed with an XLR cable to connect to the base or some sort of proprietary Bose cable? Just ordered the L1 Pro32 Sub2 with the T8S ToneMatch Mixer literally 10 minutes ago so I’m just trying to learn as much as I can about the mixer before it arrives

    Great video. Man, I've got so many questions. We are running a xlr from the main L out on the T8 to 1/4 inch on the model 2, rather than a 1/4 guitar cable like you do. Would there be a benefit to one over the other? Also wondering if you have your B2 bass on high during gigs? We're not getting enough bass through ours. If we switch it to high, it cuts out completely. And I noticed you had your phantom power on. Is that needed for anything but a condenser mic? And last; break music or after party........ we've got a bluetooth xlr transmitter that we run into a channel. We set the tonematch to DJ/playback like you do, but still get crazy effects when just streaming regular pandora music. It sounds funky. Hopefully this is not overload but any advise you can give would be awesome.

      Hey Dave, thank you for commenting! As far as the XLR to 1/4 inch cable, I don't believe there is any difference or loss of quality with either/or so long as the cable your using is of good quality. For the bass module, I do usually keep it on high. It could be cutting out because it's protecting itself from redlining and blowing. The issue could be the gain structure in the lower frequencies. If the kick and bass are hitting too hard without good compression or a gate, that could explain the issue. I just had the phantom on in this video to show it working, but nothing I used in this required it. You are right about anything like a condenser for phantom. But don't plug in a ribbon microphone!
      Lastly, for the DJ/Playback, I plug a stereo line into channels 9 and 10. They can bypass the effects completely and are controlled only by the master knob and haven't had a problem with it! Please let me know if this helps and anything else there might be. Look forward to hearing back!

      @@PaulChilders Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. While doing more research the day I messaged you, I realized we were running old firmware that didn't support the B2. Installed the new firmware and played a show Saturday night. Was a whole different experience. I learned a lot from your tutorial regarding noise gate, compression etc. Thanks for sharing.

    Hey Paul, I’ve been running this system for about 6 months now and I’m still learning things! I do have some questions about the subwoofer and tower set up in tight spaces as well as the aux sends outputs. My band mate and I are thinking of switching to in ear monitors and we were looking for some advice on how aux sends work. We would like his microphone and guitar which are channels one and two, my microphone and guitar which are channels three and four, and our electronic drums which is in channel 6, to all send at different volume levels to our in ear monitors. Is this able to be accomplished through the aux send on the T8S mixer?

    • @dancassidy7471
      @dancassidy7471 ปีที่แล้ว

      No reply noted.. my guess is no to that option as my inner ear monitors were as good as your overall set up only

    Hello Paul,
    Awesome video!!!
    My friend TommyG and I make up the group Beside Ourselves and have done a lot of Facebook live streams just using an iPhone XS Max with onboard mic, however we want to improve the sound quality output.
    Neither one of us are very tech savvy and would greatly appreciate your input..
    We use the Bose T8s mixer and I want to send audio to iPhone XS Max during Facebook Live recordings via USB B to Computer (iPhone)
    Questions:
    Should I use Master as the output source?
    Will the USB B jack provide power to charge the iPhone or should I use lightning to USB3 camera adapter?
    Will you please share your direct mix recipe for vocals?
    Any other tips are appreciated!!!
    Thanks,
    Mike Aroni

    in your opinion wich is the better interface for home recording. t8s. bose or scarlett 18i20 3rd gen ???

    • @PaulChilders
      @PaulChilders  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For home recording, I would definitely go with the Scarlett between the two. The T8S is definitely more of a live mixing board than an interface. You can really only send a 2 mix from it into CPU if you’re cutting more than one thing.

  • @bobwoolcock
    @bobwoolcock 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Too bad the USB out won't allow multitrack recording. It's ok I guess if you're confident the live mix is good enough to record and don't plan on making any fixes in post. Because there's not much you can do with a stereo mix - all the relative volumes, specific track eqs, compression, reverb (not to mention all those Bose tones) are all blended together. So to multitrack record you need to add an interface between the microphones and the mixer - line out from the interface to the line ins on the mixer.
