FILM DESCRIPTION:
In the year 2000, in a war barely noticed outside Yugoslavia, the indicted war criminal Slobodan Milosevic fought to hold power. He controlled a battle-hardened army, a tough police force, and most of the news media. But he underestimated his opponents, led by a student movement called Otpor! (‘resistance’), who attacked the regime with ridicule, rock music, and a willingness to be arrested. Their courage and audacity inspired others to overcome their fear and join the fight.
Otpor! students were the shock troops in what became an army of human rights and pro-democracy activists who systematically undermined police and army loyalty to Milosevic and forced him to call early elections. When Milosevic refused to accept his defeat at the polls, the people responded with a general strike. As normal life ground to a halt, Serbs by the hundreds of thousands descended on the capital on October 5 to seize the parliament in a dramatic triumph for democracy. Milosevic was arrested and extradited to the Hague to stand trial for crimes against humanity in June 2001.

I was only a child when these events took place and regardless of our varying opinions on Milosevic, I believe the one thing that most Serbs can agree on is that what replaced him in the long run is not what the ordinary people that participated in the struggle against Milosevic expected. I sympathize with the young people at the time being frustrated at the hopelessness of the times and the corruption that took hold of the country during the wests colonization of Yugoslavia but it seems that what resulted was only worse corruption and a complete loss of sovereignty which Milosevic to a large degree fought to protect, albeit unsuccessfully. We have now ended up with the worst political option possible and it's important that we don't give up on deposing him. If the next leader is corrupt, we'll replace them to and so on and so forth. We can't let apathy win.

Milošević should have been brought down back in 1991 and incarcerated for treachery, incitement of war, targeting everyone who opposed him and his overall incompetence alongside his narcissistic wife who had an enormous influence on his pathetic leadership. 2000 was way too late and the stain of his regime is still visible even to this day. Some of his gangsters are still here like Aleksandar Vulin, the current director of BIA
That was never any of reasons for us who were fighting in this protests against Milosevic. Real fist was Serbian nationalists angry on them because they failed with Serbian interest. Nothing else.

My folks, you should know that SLOBA was a banker before becoming a politician in 1989. There are few old photos with him and Rockefeller & Rothschild and Franjo Tudjman also a former banker. So now you know who planned all of this happenings in our country!!!

This was very clearly made for an English-speaking audience.. if this had been made to lecture Serbians about their own country, it would be in Serbian.

Very much a one sided story and if milosevic wasnt there,thered be another who after all wanted to defend serbia. These idealists are students etc who have surreal views on the world and its ways. Its nearly always anti serb and strangely milosevic at the hague was found innocent so is this documentary invalid?

@donaldduck280 I'm not a Serbian, but heres the events as i understand them. In the 90's he sent thousands of young men to their deaths over a pointless war. He committed ethnic cleansing upon Kosovo, and he ostracized and alienated Serbia to the rest of the world.
