With enough patience and festool anyone can do this stuff. I looked up this project after seeing an old timer do this project with nothing but a pen knife. You loose the organic feel in the end result when you are this precise. Respect to the organization and planning but the real skill shows when someone does this stuff with a knife and sandpaper. Keep up the good work.

I don't know what it is about high speed filing or sanding of wood, but I always find it hilarious and fun to watch. Dramatic music is also a nice touch.

Chris, A lot of people say that woodworking is a "Graying" advocation. If you attend the trade shows, you'll see more gray hair than you should. It is REALLY NICE to see a younger person so clever and enthusiastic about modern hybrid (both hand and power tools) woodworking. Congratulations. I've been woodworking since I was in the 8th grade at age 13. I still learn new ideas and techniques every time I tackle a new and different project or watch or read something from people like you. Congratulations and keep the sawdust coming.

That's really cool! An interesting exercise in wood working. I remember as a young Wood Shop student that my shop teacher Mr Henry made this same type of chain but he also incorporated the caged ball at the end of the chain. All hand carved out of a single piece of wood. It took me the longest time before I was able to get my head around how he made that! Good job!

Great project and a great shop... I must admit, I was sort of nervous when you started cracking them apart. Impressive result. I remember when I was a young boy... one our neighbors (and friend) had a hand carved length of chain, made by their Grampa, that was quite impressive. It makes me realize how much work must have gone into it. Nice job...

I hate shaking those things and it would be nice to just put it into a hand help machine and turn a handle. I have my concept for it but I'd like to see what you come up with. I asked Izzy Swan about it but he has too much on his plate. It would make a great and easy video for you.
