In trying times I often express myself best through art.
Here is a poem crafted and inspired by some of my favorite authors.
The authors of the past tried to warn us.
In one last desperate attempt. They sat at the bottom of their bottle, pen in hand.
And as they struggled to stay upright. They wrote.
They warned us of power. Warned us that power is not a means, but an end. Those who seek to condemn us, promote revolution and in doing so their dictatorship can commence.
Men and their machines. The machines given to us to "Set us free" while in truth they're enslaving us.
Be weary of the righteous they said. For religion and politics cannot steer the same ship. For when they do, those manning the cannons will believe they can destroy any castle, any kingdom, any people. And in this blind assault they'll put aside any thought of consequence. The rocky shoals beneath their hull will not reveal themselves until its too late.
By then, these so called leaders will tell us to deny the evidence we see with our own eyes and hear with our ears. This will be their concluding wish.
They tried to warn us.
As the masses lit the match, and let their pages turn to ash.

@AsimpleTale I love this poem. Really good stuff. One thing to note in your description to the video: "Be weary of the righteous they said." I believe you meant to use "wary" here. Weary - tired or exhausted. Wary - feeling or showing caution.
