Writer Amanda Overton has confirmed that the Sky Viktor sees this season is an externalization of his own humanity, which he has subconsciously created for himself because he now feels so separated from other people but still desires to do good for them and to not be completely alone This episode the only way for him to survive is to destroy Vander's humanity and, in so doing, rid himself of the last vestiges of his own
We don't know if Skye was actually Skye, or if she was a manifestation of his guilt, but either way, she definitely comes to represent his humanity and his compassion, so he's discarded that.
Yeah whether she was real or not, kind of became irrelevant but was a beautiful way to show how he was still trying hanging onto his humanity until he deemed that the problem to ending this cycle.
Your analysis is spot on. I wonder what would have happened if Jayce never blasted Viktor in the chest. As Viktor said to Singed, he wasn't willing to sacrifice Vander's humanity for 'the cause,' and (as you pointed out) he was letting people live their own lives with their own choices. But this outcome is still probably inevitable, namely due to Ambessa's involvement.
I feel like even if Jayce didn't try to prevent it, it was inevitable. If it wasn't going to be Ambessa, someone else would have eventually come along and did the same I imagine.

Viktor consumed and quieted all of the afflicted, it was a good thing for them as they were ravaged by various ailments, but at some point he would have been converting the unwilling and then we get the wasteland that Jayce saw. In other media the hivemind that seeks conformity of thought and action is written as purely malevolent and mechanical so people automatically rebel against it. This shows that if you literally just put a pretty face and vaguely nice words on something they will feed themselves to it. This is why I love Viktor's arc the most, I got to know him before the change so that I keep hoping he really is somehow good after the fusion. The moment we got that scene at the end of Act2, Ep5 where we see that he can just slide into Sallo's body with zero resistance, I knew the Viktor that we camae to know in season 1 was pretty much gone. His good intention was there, but the arcane was corrupting and co-opting that purpose to fullfill its innate impulses. I love the final symbolism of Viktor;s evolution is that the last visibly recognizable portion of his humanity, his face, split and peels away to show the final form. It is beautiful and terrible. Exactly this. People don't seem to get that the people that were 'healed' were no longer themselves. They had technically survived their afflictions but weren't living. It only appeared like goodness because viktor still cared about preserving humanity. Jayce was right, viktor died in the council room. New vik is possessed by a magic symbiote hexcore
There's a lot of moving moments throughout the series, but for some reason the young piano guy moved me the most. He can't be older than 20, facing certain death to protect his whole world. Reminded me of the stories my grandmother used to tell about young men during WW2. I was very happy to see him live at the end
The robot Victor used to attack Mel and Jayce used to be Huck. You can see the healed Shimmer growth on the side of the head and the shoulder pad as well as his necklace.
I feel like Caitlyn is not having any concern for her junior officer or her feelings. she probably now knows that Caitlyn was using her to be a placeholder for Vi. We also never see Caitlyn talk to maddie or even mention a break up with her. Hopefully that won't have any repercussions.... *no spoilers*
I think Jinx saying "I didn't know your mother was there. It probably wouldn't have made a difference, but I didn't know" was important as it showed that it wasn't personal in any way (positive or negative).
22:40 me and my wife sat here thinking this scene between Vi and Caitlyn had gone on awkwardly long. Then we come to find out... IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE LONGER
Vanders memories being taken away from him completely broke me. Can't wait to the see the video of the song that plays during that sequence which is coming out tomorrow, so I can sob all over again, probably.

1. It's war time, there's to time to hold a whole funeral and memorial for someone, especially if they're from zaun. Vi dreams about the moment jinx screamed out for Isha, and jinx is obviously depressed because of her death. 2. Viktor realized humanity is weakness when Jayce killed him and his commune failed. Sometimes paying attention helps.
You said "her sister got away, she feels like she fell for it" and i've seen lots of people say that. But I don't get it. After jinx locks up Vi she looks completely sad and broken and says "You don't need to feel guilty about being happy, you deserve to be with her, there's no good version of me" and she's going to "break the cycle". No way that what vi understands from that is that jinx tricked her and doesn't see the obvious, what we all see. she's devastated and in so much pain. i don't understand the writers on this one. please someone make sense of this pls
Vi from that angle can't see her expression. We can, she can't. With the information Vi has right now and her bullishness, she thinks she just fucked up again and those words to her are saying "I'm always going to hurt you." At least that is my read.
Mages aren't a rare thing in this world. So it's not a case of "the mages are still around but in hiding". Piltover is just one very small place that was built to get away from mages. Demacia is also a nation that hates mages but mages are constantly getting born there to the point where they have their own anti-mage inquisition. Noxus has cults and blood magic users. Ionia is an entirely magical nation built around nature magic and spirits. Mount Targon worships celestial magic. There are shamans and ice mages in the Freljord. There are time and arcane mages in Shurima. Ixtal is an isolated nation focused on mastering elemental magic. Mage's aren't some rare type of person hiding in the shadows.
Did anyone else find the music choice for what happened to Viktor, Vander/Warwick and the rest of the commune kinda, tactless? Good song but not where I’d place it.
Bit of a miss for me that they have the Vi/Cait sex scene in a dirty jail cell moments after her sister ran away but hey ho, i'm sure shippers loved it. I did like Ambessa's conversation with Mel; when you find out there's a secret society of magic assholes controlling your country from the shadows you can either ignore it or do something about it. Really liked the last Viktor scene as well, Twenty-One Pilots cooked with that song.
Alexa, play lunch by Billie Eilish. 😈😈 As much as I enjoyed the CaitVi scene a part of me was screaming "IN THE PRISON CELL HER SISTER WAS JUST IN?" I did watch a video posted on twitter that the producers said it was originally longer and this was the cut down version so we could have gotten a much longer. I really want to read that in scripted form now. Poor Vander, he really really can't get a break. (nor can anyone in this really) but seriously the guy deserves to rest.

Cracking up during the spicy scene might be my favorite reaction 😆
The robot Victor used to attack Mel and Jayce used to be Huck. You can see the healed Shimmer growth on the side of the head and the shoulder pad as well as his necklace.
There’s something so tragic that to heal himself, Viktor had to sacrifice Sky. And here we see him sacrificing Sky to do so again.
Sesbian Lex, yippee!
yippee? 😏
Cant wait for your reaction to the next episode that beginning made me bawl my eyes out
I love that Jayce isn't gulit tripping anyone into fighting. He says run if you want, but run as far as you can for your own sake.
22:14 HAHAAHAHA HHAHAHHHA HHHAHAAAHAA ohh
when you play it with 0.25x lol
Something wicked this way comes~
Yay! Thanks, Omni! Such a wild ride!
Jinx being suicidal is so sad but really in character. Ever since her fight with Ekko 😢
jinx has litterally been suicidal the entire time safe for when she had isha
episode 9 is coming
Excited for you to watch the finale ❤
I feel like Caitlyn is not having any concern for her junior officer or her feelings. she probably now knows that Caitlyn was using her to be a placeholder for Vi. We also never see Caitlyn talk to maddie or even mention a break up with her. Hopefully that won't have any repercussions.... *no spoilers*
I think Jinx saying "I didn't know your mother was there. It probably wouldn't have made a difference, but I didn't know" was important as it showed that it wasn't personal in any way (positive or negative).
You know Harry Potter? The actress playing Cait is “Cho Chang” from HP 😂 I forgot
I love that you thought about Orianna coming out of this lol.
22:40 me and my wife sat here thinking this scene between Vi and Caitlyn had gone on awkwardly long. Then we come to find out... IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE LONGER
Those French animators knew exactly what they were doing. Probably from experience 😏😏😏
Vi got to eat her cupcake
oh im early EARLY this time, heck yeah excited to see this reaction!
apparently, the cait vi was much much longer but they needed to cut out parts of it in order to keep the PG rating... make of that what you will
Vanders memories being taken away from him completely broke me. Can't wait to the see the video of the song that plays during that sequence which is coming out tomorrow, so I can sob all over again, probably.
To be fair, his Arcane corrupted hammer has some axe like qualities
21:27 Bronn laugh (Dickon scene)
Viktor’s transformation is SO COOL
" I will evolve all those willing" . and those who are not willing ? well you saw what became of them in jayces future . dead corpses locked in metal rust and agonising fear. that is what will happen if Viktor reaches the hexgate anomaly . and it won't stop with piltover . its influence will spread to all corners of runeterra until nothing is left
In the League of Legends universe, which is made up of four "dimensions": 1. Void; 2. Celestial; 3. Spirit realm and 4. Physical in the form of the planet Runeterra, there are no infinity stones.
But different types of magic and Rune = Runeterra.
At the very beginning there was only the Void and the Watchers, but then the light appeared and a reality emerged that awakened the Watchers and since then they have been trying to destroy it.
In reality, the death of Gray man/Pale man, which later becomes Kindred, two aspects of death, Lamb peaceful death and Wolf brutal death, appeared/originated.
In the universe = Celestial Realm, the dragon of Twilight as Aurelion Sol created the stars around which the planets were formed.
And later on, celestial beings and gods also began to engage in reality manipulation.
The celestial gods created constellations that serve as predictions and guidance for people, and with the help of world runes they created the planet Runeterra in one of the regions, they pulled the mountain Targon out of the earth, which serves as the Gateway to the Celestial realm Targon Prime = "Universe".
One of the Celestial Gods, for some unknown reason, later hid the world runes across the Runeters, which over time caused magical radiation, thanks to which Spirit Gods such as Anivia, Ornn, Volibear,... which reshaped the surface of the planet by ghosts, demons, and later created magical beings; Sky giants; Yordles = Heimerdinger from Bandle city which is in spirit realm; Vastayashai'rei (Shapeshifting Spirit race) + Humans = Vastaya
Spirit Race and Humans and then Animalistic Humanoids races.
Later, the Targionians people together with the help of the celestials created a crown for Aurelion Sol, whom they enslaved and thus became forced to listen to orders from the Celestial aspects to seal/destroy the void rifts with their Celestial fire.
Over time, it is clear that various types of magic appeared or arose on Runeterra: Celestial, Spiritual, Shadow, Runic, Elemental, Temporal, Necronatic, Blood,...
Runeterra is supposed to serve as a place where super powerful beings of Ascended aspects = Celestial demi-gods are to be created by, for example, a person climbs to the top of the mountain Targon and one of the Celestials chooses him as a suitable guest.
Or, with the help of the Sun disk, I reflect celestial magic into the chosen people to create Ascended Shuriman golden god warriors where some failed and The Baccai = Ramus were created and others were Ascended sunborn Nasus, Renekton,... And later the fragments of them were created after the Void battle Darkins.
All of this is to serve as a defense shield against the Void and its watchers, who are trying to destroy reality by creating Void rifts through which void born creators and monsters can pass and which devour and destroy.
Or by controlling and corrupting the minds and bodies of beings on Runeterra.
This is a setup episode and while i overall think its well delivered i dont like how fast they gloss over Ishas death like she isnt mentioned once this episode we only see Jinxs reaction to it and Viktor does a full shift from empathetic pacifist leader to i will work with a genocidal maniac to get what i want in what feels like minutes like yeah hes in a bad situation but i just doesnt feel right with how fast it happens. Looking forward to your reaction to the finale Omni.
I’d say it makes sense for victor at least one he got healed without his permission and to he figured out that what stops humanity to evolve is how different our emotions ideas are so he sees everyone merging to one as the perfect solution and he literally tries to do it peacefully but knows that force could be necessary so asks for ambesas help when it was his only option I do think 10 extra minutes per episode would be good but the show is still peak as is it has never been a flawless show
Also I think they don’t mention isha because it is wound they don’t have enough time to heal yet
This show was so much to take in that I need to go to therapy...
Ight imma head out...
No one expected Viktor to be the final boss 💀
The most heartbreaking moment this season was the stripping of vander out of warwick
Mages aren't in hiding there is a lot of them in other regions.
Piltover was just an anti magic nation until hextech came along
Didn't they say that they haven't been seen in centuries or something though
@Omn1Media In piltover maybe. I don't remember this line but if it is in the show I doubt it's talking about the rest of the world
Viktor VGU incoming
Mel was clocked. Would you think she was the mage that saved Jayce?😊
That Vi x Caitlyn cell scene was hot- I mean interesting lol
Yep, Jinx completely give up at this time
Did anyone else find the music choice for what happened to Viktor, Vander/Warwick and the rest of the commune kinda, tactless?
Good song but not where I’d place it.
Man , do you like the WWE? I would love to see your reactions to RAW and Smackdown
Do a flip next ep
Bit of a miss for me that they have the Vi/Cait sex scene in a dirty jail cell moments after her sister ran away but hey ho, i'm sure shippers loved it. I did like Ambessa's conversation with Mel; when you find out there's a secret society of magic assholes controlling your country from the shadows you can either ignore it or do something about it. Really liked the last Viktor scene as well, Twenty-One Pilots cooked with that song.
Hey now, Vi is the female Jayce all she does are bad decisions lol
It felt unexpected def, but who knows how long VI was in the cell?
So much homophobia
Alexa, play lunch by Billie Eilish. 😈😈
As much as I enjoyed the CaitVi scene a part of me was screaming "IN THE PRISON CELL HER SISTER WAS JUST IN?" I did watch a video posted on twitter that the producers said it was originally longer and this was the cut down version so we could have gotten a much longer. I really want to read that in scripted form now.
Poor Vander, he really really can't get a break. (nor can anyone in this really) but seriously the guy deserves to rest.
Season 1 VI: "Where here because I'm hungry" , " You know what prison food is like?"
Me: I don't know, prison food seems very good to me. 🧁
