I love the design of the alien in Isolation. It kept the original appeal and prowess of the big chap while giving it digitigrade legs to make it more predatory in movements.
I think the design of the drone (big chap) an the runner (alien 3) xeno are the best looking designs, but the offspring seen in Romulus looks terrifying an needs a video on this channel as well..please
I think the main reason Drones and Xenomorphs in general are so scared of fire is because they can’t understand it. They’re easily capable of withstanding high temperatures such as molten lead, but something like fire burns them and they can’t slash it away, they don’t know how to combat it so they just avoid it.
I think it maybe blinds it's thermal vision and is very "solid" in sound vision. I think if they were cornered and couldn't run they would not be bothered by the flame for very long at all
@@BeKindToBirds I mean we’ve seen one shake off fire like a dog shaking off rain before. Plus it doesn’t seem to injure them so much as just hurt them. So maybe. But it isn’t thermal vision, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to see themselves
@@BeKindToBirds that could explain why a lot of the time they turn their heads away from the flames first. Maybe the sound of the combustion overwhelms them
How often do you get to literally grow up with a franchise rooted in a particular science of biology? Alien first came out in 1979, and I was born a year later. I feel like I have grown up with this franchise, have read the early novels of Alan Dean Foster and S.D. Perry, just to name a few who contributed to this wonderful world. And thank you Project Acheron for creating a place for compilation of all this knowledge and a place within it for creative discussion
Thanks so much for your support as always!! Ill do my best to make sure I can keep bringing you the lore of the expansive alien universe that we all love so much!
Is it me or does Alien 1’s drone or ‘Big Chap’ seem stronger and deadlier. It also does the weird ‘experimentation’ with its environments as you mentioned, hence it acts very odd or ‘alien’, perhaps a sign of higher intellect and intuition than average Drones? There’s a theory Alien 1’s drone is becoming a Queen!
And smarter. But they adapt to their environment and the species they encounter, it was supposed to be new iterations each film based on their environment as it would be the dominant predator in that biosphere
@@nodatastored684 Yes even though in reality it's different production design styles for each film but I do like that 'adaptability to environment' as an in-universe explanation. I remember each Alien film has its own distinctive colour palette/production design and the Xenos in each film reflect that, with Alien 1 being metallic industrial grey, Aliens being black and even dark blue in some recent toys, Alien 3's runner being an amber yellow, Resurrection being a filthy red brown etc. But Alien 1's Xeno is definitely the most fascinating one, as the sequels showed the Xenos as monsters but the A1 Big Chap is a mysterious monster that enjoys playing with its victims and does weird things too complex for an animal the sequels portray the Xeno as, including whatever it did with Lambert and why it chose so long to stand there and torture her with fear
I like the idea that the dorsal tubes both resperate and in the process accumulate carbon from the atmosphere that can be used as material to create hive structures
May I suggest that the dorsal tubes are spinnerettes, extruding the gluey resin used to construct the hive. It would also serve to lower the creature, then allow it to climb back up, much like a terrestrial spider. We have seen the creatures ascend while their arms are occupied when attacking technician Brett and Corporal Dietrich.
I love this idea! I also enjoy imagining them using their claws to direct and gather the resin from their spinnerets when they cocoon their prey. It's also neat to note that the queen has six long spinnerets that can move and flex independently. That could imply that she used them to spin the bizarre structures we see around her in Aliens.
How is it no one has seen it? Those dorsal tubes, sitting between them you could almost use the gaps as a saddle, holding the spikey one at the top like a joystick, controlling where the Xenomorph goes. Spur thing for the little inner mouth to come out and bite lol..
2:30 wouldn’t those arrows fall off right at the entry point of the wound due to the Xenomorph’s acidic blood? Wouldn’t anything inside the Xenomorph’s body, exposed to its bloodstream, become broken down? Strange...
Are you just making that up or is it from the books? Drones are usually males in a hive, so i would assume they were the armored ones (Aliens) that were protecting the queen.
Here's a thought experiment: Name a world or such that would create some really interesting and frightening xenomorph variants. I pick Pandora with all it's different lifeforms not just the Navi.
Xenomorph invading Pandora can't the poor Na'vi catch a break lol but yeah Pandora would create some amazing Xeno variants imagine you get a Xeno Toruk and the xenos have those braids to make connections...

I'm with you there. The decision to change the legs was spot-on, makes it feel far more inhuman than other iterations of the xenomorph.
I agree 100. The only thing I don't like is how smooth and plastic it looks. It looks too clean. But it's definitely not a big deal.

It doesn't need to be speedy .its a stealth killer not a runner hehehe 😁 its fear is its weapon

Great channel. You've uncovered lore I was unaware of.

After a few seconds yeah for sure
Yeah it would take a few second though.
I would like to see the comparison in strength & speed between a zenomorph & a David or Bishop class android
Great video! The things of my nightmares...
All my cast r strong. The runner I just use for skirmishes and bring me snacks😋😁
Wait so drones come in different colors what about body? Big chap has normal feet while isolation walks on there heels?
Music artist?
i really dont like alien type that standing like human, its look like a cosplayer lmao, dog alien is my favorite
I feel the complete opposite haha each to their own I guess 😂
