Don't worry about yellow messages. It's just alerts, not faults or errors.
Vinfast system have 3 kind of color messages. White is never mind. Yellow is alert. Red is something wrong, you need keep an eye... Its system is real-time.
Oh, is there still software issue here and there? If commuting regularly for your main transportation then people should think twice about this EV vinfast.
@@Eagletran99 vinfast system is real - time system. If something wrong is still, alert mesaages will continue pop up. If it's gone, no more alert that error. The vinfast system is the same of automatic factory system, high quality and stable. It can run 24/7.
@@Eagletran99I see you everywhere saying bad things about Vinfast cars, you haven't even touched a Vinfast car yet. I know you make money from those dirty comments. So stop and get a decent job.
@@Eagletran99Not again.....3-stick dog......hahahahqhahaha..........Long live ducanger....😂😂😂😂

Francie is great. More VinFast content!
Love the Vinfast updates. Thank you.
3:53 This Cooling systen fault will be clean when you drive. It will pop up when outdor temp is over 40 degree C while your car is parked.
4:00 Tire pressure Monitoring System will be clean when you drive.
Just had to do the 12V trick on my EV9 last night for a TPMS module error. Worked like a charm. Hopefully VinFast and Kia release some good updates this summer to fix these things!
It will happens again and again like your computer / laptop / mobile phone. It's all about how long it will be happened again. Don't push the car to limite and prepare tool - wrench size 10 for disconnecting negative pole acc 12v.
Good luck and safe travels! Love your updates on the Vinfast. They are more interesting then the predominance of reviews… the Cyber this Cyber that.
Love the VinFast updates! Hope you have a great road trip in it. I always carry a small tool kit, just in case. Safe travels!
Thank You for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth

Yay, an Out of Spec podcast first thing in the morning. Have a great trip to Colorado.
As a new EV owner, thank you for this! I'll remember this!
Works on ICE cars & computers too - essentially a full power off - clears memory & endures updates are fully installed (usually updates cause a reboot which is similar to a full power off but not exactly the same).
Wichita is known for its aviation manufacturing, with Cessna and Beechcraft as well as Boeing. There is an aviation museum nearby your Vinfast service that may be fun time killer. Another option, get a limeade at Braum's! I went to college in Kansas and always looked forward to stopping at a Braum's and getting their limeade, so refreshing on hot days!
Francie, always keep the VF8 tire pressure of 36-38psi to save battery power, especially when you have a long road trip.
Looking forward to your journey. Enjoy the trip. Makes me want to hit the road ...
7:00 Francie gave me a shout out. Thanks to all Francie's viewers. Thanks Francie. I just watched your appearance on Dom's Channel Batteries Included. Great Interview. I'm so glad this fix worked so far. Safe Travels, Francie, Rafiki and Springroll.
If an update takes four hours at the dealership where I assume they are plugging some type of USB or other transfer device directly into the car, I can see why over the air updates would be a problem, because they would probably take so long that maintaining a good connection for the whole update to complete might not happen. Maybe they should try breaking their updates into smaller pieces so OTA updates would be possible.
OTA is not available for now because the size of update package is too big, taking download so long. After updating, techians recheck the car beforce returning.
Not having OTA is not a big deal. The issue is requiring customer drop off card to do it. They needed instructions on how to do it yourself. Most people that are techies can load an image on a USB. If the worried about bricking it, then the car isn’t ready sale.
OTA now available... SOMETIMES... I did .15 OTA on my wifi in my garage, but .18 they wanted me to go in to the service centre. 🤷♂️
It's been almost 4 months since I got my VF8 Plus. Surprisingly the EV has been quite reliable as I expected. Sometimes there were some strange messages popping up on the screen like check LV (low voltage) battery, but the EV has been smooth and comfortable. I called Vinfast service center for an inspection, and everything was fine. Buying an EV is just a preference. It's like choosing McDonald's or In N Out Burger or Burger King. Some people like Tesla, some like Chevy Bolt, and others like Rivian. I like VF8 because it suits my budget and I am leasing it for $281/month (about $9.37/day, which is even cheaper than an Uber or Lyft ride). Also, the VF8 Plus can achieve the driving range I need; it can go up to 240 miles on a single charge during normal weather temp in California.
>> Cooling systen fault
When you drive, cool air flow through air cooling system to reduce high temp. Temp sensor of main battery get new information and will clean that message box. It will pop up again when you parked under hot sun. Just drive
I hope you do stop in wichita and give us a quick tour of their facility for those of us that live in the wichita area. I've tried looking them up on line but it seems as tho their site is still under construction.
Back in the Early Days of computing the company I worked for hired an IT engineer to maintain our network. He insisted we save all our work and turn our computers off at the end of every workday. His idea was that every computer needs a HARD RE-BOOT every day, just to keep it honest. This, of course, was back before Windows 3.11 for Workgroups. I still use the hard reboot as part of my troubleshooting routine. Seems to work!
Until now, 90% of window's errors will be clean after restarting. Vinfast kernel software is linux, the same of QNX BlackBerry.
That was back when the power switch was actually a physical power supply disconnect. For well over a decade, the soft power button has been a "sleep mode" button because engineers realized it makes it appear that the computer "starts up" faster if it isn't actually turned off. And since most power supplies don't come with a switch anymore either, it means you have to either pull the cord or cycle the power from the power strip. Laptops are even worse... power cycling often requires physically pulling the batteries. Cell phones are the same way, I've had phones that I've regularly had to pull the battery to clear system faults. No idea what iPhone users do... buy a new one I guess.
1:37 Current charge is 11A. It's to low. At least, you set up 26A with 220v, it takes 8-10hrs to over 90%.
Some tips to fix almost errors the Vinfast VF8 EV car
- Step 1: out of the car or hide the fog-key and release seatbelt, lock and wait 10-15mins then unlock
- Step 2 : Press and hold 45s the icon on/off on volume button to soft reset
- Step 3 : Disconnect negative pole accu 12v and wait 1min then reconnect to hard reset
- Step 4 : Open fuses box, take out the box break 30A to turn off the whole system (disconnect the main High Volt Battery). Careful, do serious research beforce do this step
Wrench size 10 is recuse key.
To be clear.... for any kind of vehicle you should disconnect the 12V battery BEFORE pulling a main fuse.
Step 4

Thanks for the content Francie! I think it is so important to see what life is like driving an EV that isn't a Tesla. Driving and living with the new start up Vinfast in a way that is challenging for any EV (no charger at home) is very informative. The more options the more folks can reflect on what they want, need and like. Safe journeys to Colorado!
This has cleared an Electric Vehicle System Code on our Ioniq 5 a few times. The code is related to the grill shutters.
You guys are great. Always fun. I may be odd, but I hate dealing with phone and automotive software issues!! I don't need my car to entertain me, steer-brake for me, etc. . . .but just turn on and run when needed.
Gratuitous pug shot! Honey looks like a good dog. Good update on the Vinfast. Also depressing the brake pedal will deplete the energy in the car as well just faster.
When my brakes failed there were several lights that came on. Having heard about rebooting from someone at the dealer I did the battery trick which worked.
While I was charging the battery from turtle mode to full an I-key warning came on. I did the battery reset which worked, but then a couple brake warning lights came on.
I still had brakes, so I drove it and the lights went out eventually.
Welcome to the adventure.
Don't forget to torque the connection bolt to spec when you're done. That was an issue on early production vf8 's.
You are brave, doing this method just to educate your viewers even though you're stopping by Wichita anyway. VF actually don't recommend doing this since it wipes out the error recording. There is another way less drastic, going through the fuse box inside the cabin. But the best way is updating.
Love ya Francie... Wash that car!
😄
Hi Francie - You know that you can remove that Warning sticker on the driver's side window now. Sorry, a huge pet peeve of mine! Why do so many people leave that sticker on a new car? Anyway, thanks for introducing Honey to us. Our 4 pugs: Max, Lucy, Pika and Ben all say "Hi Honey"! Have fun on the road trip!
See if they can give you the same car you drive now as a loaner with the new software update in it so you can drive that around and hopefully get an idea of how your car should be acting on that new software. Stay safe, healthy and happy. Look forward to all your podcasts.
As part of a hard reset by uncoupling the 12v aux battery for a few minutes it's also a good idea to check the voltage of that battery using a meter. Quite often this kind of glitch is associated with a low charge and a long session on a mains smart charger is beneficial before reconnecting it. Such chargers analyse the battery condition and repair any faults before going on to a selected charge pattern to condition and balance the cells. Not a bad idea to do that monthly anyway as preventative maintenance, whether it seems to need it or not, when doing the usual tire kicking and screen bottle filling routine.
Hi Francie I hope it all gets sorted out. Honey reminds me of my Pugsley. Your mom looks cool. What would also be cool is if Out of Spec Dave sent you a car wash subscription so you get it washed as many times as you want in a month. See his latest video.
When I was at the dealership they said we're not allowed to remove the negative terminal to reset it but they have a free roadside assistance partnership with many different tow truck companies that should be able to come within an hour anywhere in Canada and if I can't get one through them and pay out of pocket they will reimburse me. And it's for 10 years
Under some circumstances, their friendly 24/7 phone support people will guide you through a 12v reset. They do prefer that you then book it in for a checkup / recalibration ASAP after though.
Have a great trip! Perhaps you can arrange for a demo flight on a private plane from Beechcraft!
VinFast technicians advise against doing this since it wipes out the data in the memory and VF won't be able to trace the cause of the problem! Removing and replacing the fuse behind the small compartment box is a better solution for this particular problem..
As you saw the 12v hard reset tends to cause additional issues besides those it solves. In the Fisker Ocean doing this often necessitates windows and or sunroof recalibration…
I was at a vin fast dealership a few weeks back and OTA updates are coming. They're currently in the process of finding / testing servers to hold their updates..
It may be glitchy but Springroll is beautiful in the full sun (or shade).
Here’s an idea: go to Harbor Freight and get a battery disconnect switch for under $10. It goes between the negative lead and the negative battery post. Just loosen the big green knob to cut off the battery, do not entirely remove the knob. You can snug it up with your fingers to reconnect the battery after a few minutes. It looks like this should be a factory installed option for VinFast!
I should add, well stocked Walmarts also have battery disconnect switches for about the same price.
Before I got my 2023 VF8 Plus, I had watched TH-camr Kim Java test drive a 2023 VF8 Plus City Edition with her family-her husband and 2 kids in the EV for one week. It was Kim Java, who proved the 2023 VF8 Plus City Edition could travel 263.8 miles on a full charge (the 2023 VF8 Plus City Edition battery had only 1% left).
As said previously please show us food you eat on the trip. Don’t be afraid to charge the loaner in order to get meal. You’ve fair bit of time to use up.
looking good Francie!
Updates are very important. They never plan to offer OTA? Cuz you will always be out of date than. Definitely get as current as possible. If 13 comes it while in Colorado stop again on way back to get it. Do what you can to stay current. Usually resolves lots of little behind the scene issues.
OTA now SOMETIMES available. .15 was OTA and I did it myself at gome, took about 35min. .18 they wanted to take it back to the service centre and do it for me. 🤷♂️
That is the VinFast way. Like you said in another video. “Glitchy” the errors looks like sensor misreads. They need to improve the firmware and software to manage all sensors and provide a more pleasant UI
Make sure to have the wrench available on your way. Also consider pressing and holding down the volume knob for about 30+ seconds. Then wait 5-10 min and that should be like the Tesla “reboot “ function.
That reboots "only" the infotainment system. You can actually drive the car whilst doing this reboot, but this is NOT a reccommendation! 🤣
Wichita is home to a LOT of car TH-camrs! You should try to get in touch with Tyler Hoover, WatchJRGo, 100PercentJake or Elliott Alvis! Get them to poke fun at the VF8!
That's some Pug!
VinFast prefer that you do this type of reset whilst on the phone to their 24/7 support line. I understand you will lose:
TPMS, but drive a few km and it will see the tire sensors again.
Window-pinch settings, but you can wind down each window AND HOLD for 3s, then all the way up AND HOLD for 3s, repeat for each window ONE at a time, and they should be safe again
12V Battery monitor setting, unfortunately this can only be recalibrated in a service centre, but if you get 12V battery warnings in the meantime you can PROBABLY ignore them. Book it in when you can, free recalibration.
Logs... which are not a problem unless you wanted VF to check logs from any previous faults.
Hope, they can resolve all the problems and able to compete with Tesla🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. As long as it keeps running safely is a good thing.
There are a few automotive TH-camrs in Wichita - maybe do a collab with Hoovie, the Car Wizard or Watch JR Go while you're there LOL.
You look so much like your mom, anyone looking at you together could tell you were related.
Love your car❤
Sound a lot like changing a battery in an ICE car and having the computer relearn sensors and settings. Just go drive it and checks all the sensors and car resets and then runs correctly.
From reading some of the comments here, it sounds like Vinfast is taking an overly aggressive approach to their alerts. Seems like they've basically taken the lights that appear on power up of ICE engines and made them popups... which means you get popups for things that clear normally almost immediately as the vehicle "warms up". Maybe they need to delay some of those until the vehicle is further along in the process to make sure they are valid. Cautious is good. Overly cautious to the point where you are teaching users to ignore alerts is bad.
I absolutely hate that my Camry has a big red warning light with a picture of an engine on it that basically just means I havn't gotten an oil change within 5,000 miles of the last one. Half of the time I forget what it means and it freaks me out, the other half of the time I am ignoring a big red light and it feels like I shouldn't be doing that.

The new VinFast VF8, already on sale in France, is currently in turmoil. The electric SUV is the target of an investigation in the United States following a serious accident that claimed the lives of a family of four. The cause: faulty driving aids.
But in addition to this dramatic accident, more than 11 complaints have already been lodged against the company due to similar concerns, where the car abruptly changed trajectory. That's not all, as other owners have also reported anti-collision system failures, while some have indicated problems with semi-autonomous driving. One motorist saw his vehicle hit traffic cones at night on a freeway.
The reviews of people bought Vinfast is mostly negative 💀, the things is that this car are not reliable enough to make a trendy trust international stage.
i think you should be carefull with this on some cars. On a BMW I3 you are in problems if you dont keep the 12v even when changing the 12 v batteri.
Nice
Disconnect the 12v battery... you mean turn it off and on again? Tip of the hat to the I.T. crowd TV program.
I LOVE The IT Crowd TV show.
even though everything seems to be working I would still take it in
Do a TH-cam collab with Tyler Hoovie w/ Hoovie's Garage, he lives in Witchita!
Crazy that this wasn’t sorted before the car was in your hands
Sound like this EV vinfast prefers to young generation with quick thinking and resolve electronic system rather than senior folk?
No, this system is already on market so long. If you build an automatically factory, you will see. If you control server station or control room, you will recognise these error. It's not new.
Francie hopping for you that you get Polestar 3 as next work car😊❤

After making Francie have to put up with the VinFast, Kyle owes her a proper EV loaner once the VF stint is over!
She’s a good example of patience personified!

Rude use of a bait Pug and we never meet them!
Luckily, I’ve only had to reset our TESLA display unit by pressing and holding down the two knobs on the steering wheel. This even worked while driving an FSD. I did recently notice that the owners manual says you must only do the reset while the car is parked. Oops!
Verry bad softwhere or bad hardware what is it rely that is wrong with this piece of ... Car.
Why bought a car with troubles and fixing it
It is funs. there is something we talk about. If it is smooth, it will be boring.
