  • One of thoughts that past mind while trying to answer was “by giving advice I carry the responsibility of the person’s failure using my advice” which in it’s own is not 100% true. Sometimes it’s not about advising but supporting in other way and you can give incredible advice but it can still fail.

your idea for a discord is really cool, that's something a lot of us "young" people need!

For me it’s “don’t give people advice unless they are asking for advice”. But yeah I love your discord idea!

There is a quote by someone famous who says something along the same lines. Which is "It is by action, not words that we communicate most clearly". And that goes for communicating lots of things, but life-advice being one of those. And if you demonstrate something very valuable to someone, then they will ask you for advice. Because you clearly know your stuff, by example. And also we know that humans speak with great confidence about something that they heard on a podcast for example that they are trying to pass off as their own wisdom. Or humans lie all the time, is also an observation. So we all know really, that what someone says alone, aint worth much.

I think what's nice about this channel is it's just listening to someone work their own way through and figuring things out for themselves. Feels wholesome and helps pull me out of my own preconceived world and back into that discovery phase again.
You seem close with your family and I like some of the tidbits they've tossed your way. I wouldn't jump the gun on it but I think it would be interesting to eventually interview your parents and get some of their thoughts on things if they're open to that. Just an idea, not advice!

I always say to take advice from someone who has traits that you want to adopt for yourself. Kind of like a role model who you strive to be. if you ever want to give someone advice, make sure that it’s about a topic that you know so well that you could talk about it for hours

I don't know if I really agree with this. "Don't give advice, ever." Seems reductive as advice. Giving guidance to someone is the same as giving advice. There is nuance to giving someone guidance in that you want to make sure you're not wasting your time. Learning when to give advice and when not to is an important skill to have, in interpersonal relationships one on one or as a leader to a group, learning what to say and when is important. If you're mentoring someone and you care about them, giving advice comes from a place of care and a desire to see them succeed.
Someone can want to see someone succeed and give bad advice, but you just have to be able to look at the information being given and discern if it came from a place of good intent or malice.
Giving advice to someone asking for it can be helpful. There have been times where I needed advice, because I didn't know what to do in a situation and the advice given to me helped me out tremendously.
There were other times where listening to someones advice didn't help me. I can look back on each time and say I gained knowledge on how to decide for myself one way or the other.
Or i'm wrong, who knows lmao

When my dad told me this is was because I was a kid with no experience. At the time, I was in no place to be giving life advice when I had no facts to back me up. Pretty much all opinion and assumptions. “Never give advice” was his way of having it stick for so long. I’m not saying to “never give advice” but more “are you in a position to be giving advice?”

@@AlsoknownasBK I think thats fair. Asking yourself if you're in a position to speak on something is smart.
I have a mentor and am a mentor to a few people i'm close with in my life and one thing I always try to take into consideration is the importance of what you say when someone is listening to you.
You're kind of in that now, since you have a youtube channel. As your channel grows, like it or not people will be listening to you. It's good to know that you seem to be thinking about what you are saying :D
I enjoy your videos and i'm excited to see more of them!

I think you're confusing "Advice" for "Wisdom" and even though you may disagree with your Dad remember that he's probably looking out for your best interest. Just My Opinion.

    • @AlsoknownasBK
      @AlsoknownasBK  หลายเดือนก่อน

Possibly 😌 Wisdom is something (at least for me) something that gets passed down through conversations similarly to exchanging knowledge. Advice is directly someone with the intent to advise, something with more responsibilities attached. I agree, that my dad is looking out for me every day in one way or another😌
