I remember being an extra during the football scene. And that heat wave was no joke. They brought us tons of water to drink. And my girlfriend at the time passed out from the heat. They kept us entertained by showing off the tumblers and doing Batman Trivia. Despite all that, I loved being there and watching how the sausage was made. I remember Nolan getting on mic, thanking everyone for their patience, saying “god, it’s so hot here.” I still have my set pass somewhere.
While I wasn’t there, I remember seeing clips recorded from the stadium that summer. I was trying to figure out what Tom Hardy was saying, but luckily someone transcribed it. I also saw leaked recordings of the Bat flying, and the snow fight between Batman and Bane.
I think you can have too much of a good thing. Part of the reason Nolan's version of the Joker is so impactful is down to how little he's actually used. Bane was the perfect villain for the final chapter in this story, and any further inclusion of the Joker would have made the film unfocused.
@@Malconeous I understand that he was a great joker. But I definitely would not take that away from Tom Hardys performance either. Dark Knight Rises is actually my favorite one. it also allowed us to return back to the league of shadows again and their mission to destroy gotham which was perfect. maybe seeing the joker be the judge instead of scare crow would of been better. Scare crow could of been the executioner
James Newton Howard deserves way more credit for the score. The Dark Knight Rises is by far the worst score of the three and it’s a solo Zimmer job. He’s honestly the most overrated composer in Hollywood.
I live in Pittsburgh and worked in a building overlooking one of the main filming streets during filming. It was absolutely wild seeing tumblers out the window and cars with Gotham license plates on the way to lunch. The big metal gate that the prisoners break through was added by the production crew but the stone arch it fits into is a real structure, it's just the entrance to an alleyway. I used to drive through it every day to get to our parking garage but we had to detour for like a month because of that damn gate :)
It's just mind-blowing how influential Nolan is. He just says "I want [insert actor or actress] for [insert role]" and the studio will comply. Not like Disney which will force the director to do the studio's vision and cast the actors and actresses the studio wants.
Nolan was so influential that he just told Warner Bros "I don't want my movies to be involved with other superhero movies" and they just accepted it. Like, they made new Batman movies with other actors and just kept the Nolanverse on its own
Nolan has proven himself as one of the greatest, and is one of the only directors that not only can get most of the cast he wants, but also WB is literary his. Like in the middle of a pandemic, with everyone being broke cuz everyone's home, he got 200 mill for TENET. Another Masterclass which I am 30000% sure a lot of people didn't like cuz they had no idea what is happening. I watched that movie more than 5 times, and watched 4 hours of TH-cam videos on entropy, and yet I don't fully grasp the science behind it. People don't get that you cannot watch a Nolan's movie only once. I have watched Interstellar more than 10 times and yet I still figure new stuff out every time I watch it. I am not old school and only 20, but for me Nolan is the greatest. I know so many other directors out there deserves this, but for me personally Nolan is the greatest.
Its sad that we could have gotten a very different movie with more Joker. However, I really liked DKR. Tom Hardy as Bane is so much fun and Anne Hathaway was great as Catwoman.
I happen to still love this movie. Sometimes, I go back & forth on whether this or Begins is better, but I think it did a lot of things right, including restoring Bruce as the emotional focus of the film. And that 1st Batman/Bane fight is still good! I don't know why I didn't think Nolan would actually re-create the back breaking from the comics, but when I saw it, I was in a half smile/half shocked look. And Anne Hathaway's Catwoman wasn't bad at all. She had more of the sensuality in her voice than Zoe Kravitz. I liked her suit being a mixture of the mid-00s comics & Julie Newmar. And I'm on board with this version of Bane. After what we got in Batman & Robin, this was definitely an upgrade.
I am 100% sure if Affleck's batman came out before this, it was gonna be a normal/good batman. I totally agree with Nolan. In my opinion this trilogy is not even a superhero trilogy. It's not about 'batman', it's merely about ideas. Batman is a symbol, as joker and bane are. Every character in these movies represent something, and to me it's more about what happens when different ideologies meet. To me, this is way more than just a superhero movie.
You can tell by how he treats his team, making them eager to want to work with him again, his loyalty & respect to the legend who gave his life to bring his vision alive, & respect to the people who loves his films, Nolan isn’t in it just for the paycheck. Dude has respect for the craft & loves what he does, which is another reason he deserves & earns all the praise he receives.
Seriously, Nolan's use of Bane as Bruce's antithesis - what Bruce could have been had he gone down a different path - goes totally underappreciated and overlooked. It was the perfect way to close the story, building on so many themes set up from the very first movie while also continuing directly from the second.
@@Garoth4582 I guess that’s one way of looking at it; a puppet for the League of Shadows. If Bruce had chosen to execute that farmer in Begins, he would have gone down the same path as Bane.
@@myenemysenemy1043 but you are right he would have just been a puppet to the league of shadows. I just felt like it took all the wind out of Bane's glory. Really nullified my experience.
None of that changes the fact that the script was horrendous. And so I have read here and there, done on purpose. Two points out of multiple: No one has seen Batman in 8/9 years (whatever it is)/ no one has seen Bruce Wayne in the same time period. Bats comes back and then Bruce Wayne starts socialising again. Anybody notice ? Of course not. Opening scene : Mr CIA just lets three masked men on his plane without checking who they are. Personally, I can't watch it without these and multiple other poorly written story points. It truly is a horrendous film. I wouldn't even call it first draft.
This is my favorite film of the trilogy and my favorite Batman film honestly. I love how it comes full circle with the trilogy to tie things together. Christian Bale has always been my favorite Bruce Wayne/Batman as he puts his all into the role in each film in the trilogy and here he truly cements being the absolute best Batman/Bruce Wayne for me. Getting all three sides of the character down to a T. Batman is where Bruce Wayne’s anger and pain goes when he is out as Batman, the Playboy Billionaire version of Bruce Wayne that the public sees as someone who’s good a business, yet is also selfish and a womanizer and the real Bruce Wayne that only few people like Alfred and Fox see throughout each installment of the trilogy. I never minded his voice and in the last two films of the trilogy, they added an effect to his voice as Nolan wanted Batman to sound darker than in Batman Begins, but Bale couldn’t do that naturally while not killing his voice, so they edited his voice in post. Gary Oldman is the best Commissioner Gordon as well, truly shines whenever he’s on screen as does Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth. Seeing Caine and Bale interact is always great, same with Morgan Freeman as Lucious Fox. These two characters really do their best to ensure Bruce stays as grounded as possible. Tom Hardy is excellent as Bane and while Heath Ledger’s Joker may be a better villain, Hardy defiantly holds his own against Bale’s Batman/Wayne and is truly menacing and intimidating. Anne Hathaway plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman to perfection as doing what she can to survive and also trying to get away out of the situation she’s in and in hopes for a better life. Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake is an excellent addition to this universe as a cop, promoted to detective doing what he can to help keep the city safe once all hell breaks loose. And Marion Cotillard does a very good job as Miranda Tate, a character who seems to be a love interest for Bruce, yet until the end of the film, you can’t help but think she’s hiding something from most of the principled characters. Cillian Murphy returns as Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow in a couple scenes and does a great job as the appointed judge in the Kangaroo Court. Christopher Nolan and company truly made sure that the trilogy ended with a way that was satisfying to wrap everything up and I remember 10 years ago seeing this film and wanting it to be good and have a good ending to the trilogy and I have to say this film did that for me then and still succeeds in being a satisfying ending. It’s a film that as time goes on, I notice more and more people seem to enjoy it more, maybe not to the point of thinking it’s the best of the trilogy like I do, but are able to see it for what it is. What people say are problems aren’t really problems as they’re often call backs to the other films in the trilogy, primarily Batman Begins. If everything was explained and the film was over 3 hours then people would complain about that. Because Nolan treats everyone who sees it as smart and having seen the previous films in the trilogy, we aren’t need to be shown every detail that would tell us how things tie back with the previous films, even when the trilogy wasn’t really planned from the beginning. I know Nolan did mention early on when writing Batman Begins with David Goyer about making a trilogy, but that was as far as it went for him. I know his wife Emma Thomas and Christian Bale have said things that sort of indicate that he had an idea of where he wanted Bruce Wayne to be if he got to make more than one Batman film and if they were lucky, they would get to make three Batman films and Nolan decided to make each film the best film he could at the time as if it was the only Batman film or the last Batman film he’d ever get to make and so he really made sure to not have much, if any sort of major cliffhanger at the end of the films, only open endings where there’s an ending to the film but no guarantee of a follow up, which really nails home the fact that Nolan never plans for sequels to his films. With the exception of this trilogy, all of the rest of Nolan’s films are stand alone films with no sequels. Even with two sequels to Batman Begins, Nolan makes sure to give his films an open ending to each of them where we want more, but are satisfied with what we have. I know people have said Heath Ledger was supposed to be in the third film and Heath Ledgers sister mentioned how Heath said he had hopes of returning for a sequel to The Dark Knight and while he and Nolan may have discussed what could happen with the Joker after the film, once he died he was never mentioned for a follow up ever again. And the earliest of Nolan saying or mentioning anything of a third film in any serious manor was back in December of 2008, around the time The Dark Knight was out on Blu-Ray and DVD, as it was revealed that he had completed a story outline for a third Batman film, which of course would never feature the Joker out of respect for Heath Ledger. I don’t really blame anyone for thinking Ledger was supposed to be in a third film as it seems to be a combination of hearsay with no actual definitive quote from Nolan saying this being the case and Heath Ledgers sister mentioning how he wanted to do another Batman film as the Joker, but whatever he and Nolan discussed about any potential future for the character beyond The Dark Knight never happened for obvious reasons and when he revealed he had a outline for a third Batman film, that was almost a full year after Ledger’s passing, so the Joker defiantly would never be in the cards for a third film that Nolan would make at that point. Honestly, all three films also look and feel timeless, which I think helps the re-watchability as sometimes films like this can look and feel like the time it was made and released and that doesn’t always help a film long term. I also think the story in the trilogy gets better with each film. That’s not going to be the consensus for everyone obviously, but I went in to this wanting the film to not only be good but to be a fitting end to the trilogy and it met those expectations I had and more. This film is great and I’m glad to see others talk about this film more positively over the years. Thank you for this video and apologies for the length of the comment. I really love this film and it’s nice to see more people talk about the good it has rather than what’s perceived to be bad, even if many of those things are just nitpicks at the end of the day and don’t really effect the film or trilogy as a whole.
A sequel trilogy based on Batman Beyond with Robin Blake as Batman with a Mission Impossible type feel to it could be awesome. Bale could return as an Alfred type of supporting role, being Robin’s trainer, mentor, and man in the chair.
It’s so heartbreaking Heath couldn’t receive his Academy Award, and that third film in the trilogy had to leave The Joker out completely. I actually think was a beautiful act on Nolan’s part because after Heath’s unbelievable method acting, why would you bring someone else in to take his spot? Heath deserves all the love and admiration for his performance in the second movie. Now as sad as it was not being able to see Joker come back for the third film, that curveball had to be hard so hard to overcome. Thankfully, I liked Bane, I liked how they finished off the trilogy! I mean, talk about a roadblock for a third movie. RIP Heath Ledger, you will always be beloved for your performance and acting abilities.
I actually really liked this movie. I just didn't like that it was the end of the Nolan Trilogy. I felt this story needed more movies to be complete. It does have flaws though. Talia reveal was too obvious IMO Bane getting just shot and killed out of nowhere was lame. Other than that I liked it.
12:06 - I was one of those extras. We were instructed to bring coats and jackets while wearing comfortable short sleeve shirts underneath, so that we take off our coats outside of shooting and were only dealing with the "winter clothing" look during the filming (which was total only 10% of the 10 hour day). That helped a little, but it was HOT because most of us were still wearing jeans in 100 degree heat indexes surrounded by concrete and hot stadium seats. Even still, I would do it all again. It was a memorable experience.
Dark Knight Rises is an awesome movie and a worthy finale to what is still the best CBM trilogy ever. Tom Hardy was superb as Bane. That scene where he breaks Batman gave me the chills. It was an unreal experience. It was heart stopping (narrator: of course, his heart did not stop).
I'm sorry I know a lot of people like this movie but it has so many issues. The fact that batman took so much time off and just let crime run rampant because a girl that wasn't his girlfriend died is silly. Also, the fact that in the middle of a dessert somewhere is a pit in the ground less escapable than alcatraz, somehow has capability of a television hookup with Gotham news channel on it. Then add to it that Bruce somehow gets out and makes his way back to Gotham in Winterfell to Kings Landing season 8 type speed. Not to mention the attempted M. Night twist at the end with the auto pilot being somehow fixed, the cops real name being Robin which is supposed to be a OMG moment when in reality means absolutely nothing because there was no Robin ever named John Blake.
The movie is about Bruce dealing with pain - both physical and internal as Batman. Bane is the embodiment of bringing pain onto him and Gotham. Bruce lost Rachel as a lover and Harvey Dent as a successor. In rises Bruce gains Selina Kyle as a lover and Robin Blake as his successor.
@Peter MJ I know what the movie is about I just think it's dumb. It's been maybe a decade, maybe a little more that he's been Batman in the movie timeline, already he needs a successor? Also, a guy named Robin Blake is gonna be Robin? So he's gonna use his real name? Shouldn't be too tough to figure out. And everything else I said. He's effing Batman for Pete's sake. I understand being a little down your friend died or whatever but the Batman we all grew up with would never just take years off and let crime run rampant in Gotham. He became batman to honor his parents and it takes the death of one girl to elminate all that? I just dont buy it. Some middle eastern pit in the ground prison has television capable of getting Gotham news? Bane's background in the comics is Hispanic although he learns a bunch of languages. You wanna change that to British? Fine, but you tell us that he grew up in a Middle Eastern prison. Where exactly did he develop a British accent? Talia decides shes gonna get back at Bruce by having sex with him multiple times? Ill take that revenge any day. These are just little plot holes that take away from it for me. I'm not shitting on anyone for liking the movie, some people just like seeing Batman on screen and thats fine. I don't blame anyone, they expected Heath Ledger to be there so they put a movie together and did the best they could, same thing with Wakanda Forever this year. It just didn't do it for me. If you like it good for you I wish I did. I don't hope to dislike anything.
@@dazed1nyc Dude the movie literally shows Blake “rise” in the Batcave hence the dark knight rises. Blake’s whole arc in the movie is that he learns that being a cop is not for him so he becomes the next Batman and Bruce makes a new Bat signal for him and left the Batcave for Blake to use. Batman wasn’t needed because the Harvey Dent act enforced crime hard. Like Gordon said in the Dark Knight “he is the hero Gotham deserves but not the one he needs right now”. In rises Batman was needed to face Bane. He didn’t quit just cause of Rachel he quit so Gotham can believe Harvey was a martyr and inspire people to fight against crime.
I remember watching this on day of its release at Irvine Spectrum, Irvine California. There was a Christopher Nolan Batman triology marathon, prior to the beginning of this then latest flick. There was merchandise being sold at the screens, I remember changing my Tshirt for a newly purchased Dark Knight Rises Tshirt inside the hall, just a few mins b4 the movie began.
Part of me even to this day wishes they did continue Nolans/DC universe giving us other trilogy's of other DC heroes without super powers. I also recalled how in the Dark Knight Rises there was rumor of Robin Williams as Hugo Strange.
@@NIDELLANEUM Eh see I dont see Bale batman with the Justice League I see him more tackling other anti heroes or teaming up with other heroes withoutsuper powers like Green Arrow and Batman brave and the bold or Ted Kord Blue Beetle.
The only movie I've ever seen on a midnight showing because I'm a huge Batman fan and no matter what people think this was the perfect ending to the trilogy. The scenes of the GCPD chasing Batman were actually downtown Los Angeles I recongnized many street signs.
Warners begged Nolan to film in digital 3D to capitalize on the hot new cinematic trend following Avatars success, then tried to force a 3D conversion on the film in post production, but both times Christopher Nolan refused, opting instead to push for the IMAX aspect ratio, which he has since become synonymous with, and has yet to do any films in 3D, although Inception came close, receiving a test conversion before Nolan decided the technology wasn't there yet.
So disappointed in this one. The best parts of the first two movies were how grounded they were, and how they really were about the psychology of Batman and his villains. This one became so absurdly unbelievable with its plot, and had such a finality to it, making any kind of sequel either impossible or completely unbelievable. The time jump between the second and third movies makes you so disconnected from the characters and the world, and it doesn’t feel like you’re watching the thing you signed up for.
Nice video; I'd like it if in one of your next videos you'll talk about a confrontation between Rocky and Raging Bull. It would be a really nice comparison where you will make many fanf of the genre happy.
I worked in downtown Los Angeles. I watched the chase scene of Gotham PD chasing after Batman on his bike being filmed. It was so much fun. I got my issues with this film as far as plot holes and etc, but I still love to watch it because I got to watch that chase scene live. After filming, they parked the Batcycle within a few feet of me. I wanted to get a picture of it but I was afraid that they would have complained to my management.
I was at the stadium scene. Oi! It was so hot lol but it was a fun day. Heinz Ward came out on a Tumbler and I yelled to him he was the champ, he said Go Steelers and I said no, I'm a Philly fan, "I meant you're the dancing champ, show us your moves." And he did, he started dancing on the Tumbler. I will never forget that. Heinz Ward dancing on a Tumbler on the set for a Batman movie on a hot summer day in Pittsburgh. 😄 Another memory of that day is Bill Cower giving a speech and then walking towards some landmines on the field. Everyone yelling for him to turn around. That was scary. But they also gave out a bunch of goodies that day, gave us lunch too if I recall correctly. The only thing that bums me out is you can't see our faces in the movie. Like we bragged about it too lol was still fun though. For a whole year I was quoting Bane. "Gotham, this is your reckoning." I also remember that kid singing the Natrional Anthem like 15 times... okay, maybe it wasn't that much but it felt like it lol
The Dark Knight Rises had unbelievable cinematography, it made both batman begins & The Dark knight look small in stature. My favourite cinematography film of Nolan till date (incl Oppenheimer)
Nolan should do Batman Beyond and have Bale return as an aged Bruce Wayne looking to recruit a successor in a time where Gatham needs a hero. Separate from the rest of the current DC cinematic adaptations. The story seems well suited for Nolan's style.
The Dark Knight Rises may have overall been the most enjoyable one. One of the best movies of 2012 one of the biggest. Great audience and imdb score also. Oh and afi’s top ten of the yr
In hindsight, it’s pretty crazy that a comic book film trilogy was directed by Christopher Nolan. He likes interesting stories that haven’t been done, and Batman’s stories have been done time and time again. And the movies speak for themselves. Not just one of the best comic book adaptations, but one of the greatest film trilogies of all time.
A great movie, I really love it and have a huge respect for it, we could say that in the end yes bruce wayne is alive, but Batman died, making his final sacrifice for Gotham
Till this day I remember the backlash to the casting of Ledger as the Joker not just on the internet but also in magazines like Wizard which also makes me feel old AF
my favourite of the trilogy. biggest gripe was bane and talia anticlimactic deaths, especially when bane was such a formidable villain throughout the film
I love TDKR, but dang seeing Joker embrace the chaos of Gotham’s reckoning and its citizens eating each other similar to Scarecrow would have been cool and made the movie feel even more alive.
When ledger was announced...I knew he would absolutely kill that role. I was a fan from his Australian films like two hands. He is an amazing actor and it's a real shame he passed away in would have loved to see him continue his role as the joker. I live in Australia and he had such a great profile in the film and tv scene here. I am a producer here so I had seen a heap of his stuff,. Knew he was going to be amazing. He had huge talent, such a sad loss. I argued until my.face was blue that he was going to be an amazing joker with my mates here in Australia and they all said he's Gunna suck etc,. I gave them a big told ya so when we saw eachother after the film came out.
Shout out to my hometown Nottingham which is featured in the film. Wollaton Hall doubles as Wayne Manor. I used to drive home from work and purposely past the set to try and catch a glimpse of what was going on. Definitely the most exciting thing to happen to the city until Forest got promoted last year!
In the novelization Bane visits the Joker in Arkham (or maybe it's Blackgate) and decides he's to unpredictable to let loose leaving him as the sole inmate
For a film that Nolan didn't have any heart in making, and despite some unexplained continuity issues along with the worst death in cinematic history (Marion Cotillard), I think it was a damned good movie. In my opinion, the only true Batman movies are the Nolan movies, and that's coming from someone who went into watching "Begins" with low expectations!
I’ve watched the TDKR at least a dozen times… it’s so raw. BB and TDK are great, Heath ledger being amazing in TDK of course but i love the 3rd movie the most…
Ya filming that day at heinz field sucked!! I almost passed out and had a panic attack as they had the gates locked when we were leaving so we were all stuck in the stairway
13:58 Point of Order: The term “Beau or Bo” is used when referring to a boyfriend or male suitor. Not a girlfriend or female love interest. Come on JoBlo you are better than that.
This Movie certainly had a profound effect on Popular culture with one of the key sequences being Bane breaking Batman's Back. Tom Hardy had huge shoes to fill, following Heath Ledger but he did an admirable job despite some audio issues with his voice. Overall a pretty solid end to a beloved trilogy that slowly got a longer run time with each entry.
I just wanna know why the Catwoman action, fight scenes are always halfway out of frame…. Always liked this flick a lot…. Not big on huge CGI battles on a green screen
Christopher Nolan always does a spectacular job with his films. I feel that he should’ve picked up where he left off with this film, as it showed the introduction of Robin. The way the movie ended left its viewers in expectation of a quadrilogy. These three Batman movies made much more sense than the ones with Ben Affleck or Robert Pattinson. Hans Zimmer did an outstanding job with the score for all three movies.
This was definitely the worst of the trilogy Batman Begins was the best Batman movie The Dark Knight was the best of the trilogy but was a Joker movie with Batman in it
@@phillyvoodoo Classic bs excuse the kids have come up with to try and take away from TDK. Bale was exceptional in TDK and carried the film on his shoulders at the end of the day. The Joker was outstanding in the movie but was only in it for 10-15 minutes tops. Batman and the impact his presence had in Gotham was the focus of the film. Stop making shit up.
@R S I'm 45 and I was reading comics since the 80s and was a geek and a nerd way before is was cool... I actually got beat up for nerdom..... Now if you read my comment previous you would note that I said that The Dark Knight was the best of the series...... it my be the best film with Batman ever, however it wasn't really a Batman movie..... I also don't take anything from Bale's portrale of the character because he didn't write it.... But that characterization just isn't Batman.... Batman has one true super power, he doesn't give up..... Nolan spends the entire series having Bruce find ways out of being Batman and that is just contrary to the core of his essence.... Now all film is subjective and this is my informed opinion..... In closing I am not making excuses Only stating the characterization options of nearly every writer that has written the for him..... with a few noted exceptions
The dark Knight rises was amazing. Not as good as the dark Knight but the action scenes and wit was there. I loved it. I've watched the dark Knight rises more than the rest.
So if Heath didn’t pass we would get a 4th movie on that but since that wasn’t the case and we only got 3, there still is potential for a 4th? So we could’ve had 5 movies? 😳😢😭
My biggest issue was talia reveal and banes death if they built the return of league of shadows or left bread crumbs it would of been fine but this trilogy is the best super hero on my opinion
In my opinion it was set back by trying to live up to The Dark Knight and Heath Ledger's masterful performance. But you just can't force the kind of performance were it's the actor vanishes and it's character there and the audience just becomes completely entranced and just absorbs the scene with their full attention.
I Love this trilogy! By far The Dark Knight was the best in the series as Heath Ledger performance was OUTSTANDING!!
I concur with all of your sentiments.
The first two movies are great but this movie is complete piece of shit. They fucked up so badly on the third one.
The fight is so bad
Cat's costume is so bad. Batman's mask is really bad. This film is really bad.
Thank you Christopher Nolan for bringing us Batman.
This movie was the start of my actual life journey. It marks the beginning of a big story for me in my life.
Tom Hardy. Is that you!?

What a puppet? Bane's outcome was so deflating.
It goes overlooked because of the poor execution
I have to say, I feel sorry for anybody who didn't see this film in IMAX. It was truly an experience
One of my best imax experience ever!
None of that changes the fact that the script was horrendous. And so I have read here and there, done on purpose.
Two points out of multiple:
No one has seen Batman in 8/9 years (whatever it is)/ no one has seen Bruce Wayne in the same time period.
I wouldn't even call it first draft.
too bad the movie was shite though.
Putting a shite movie on a big screen doesn't make it any better - if anything it just makes you see a bigger piece of shite.

I really love this film and it’s nice to see more people talk about the good it has rather than what’s perceived to be bad, even if many of those things are just nitpicks at the end of the day and don’t really effect the film or trilogy as a whole.
great comment. don't we all love good films
Nice
Too much text.
The way bane went out ruined it for me I was in until that point
The third movie sucks.
I've always loved that hand on shoulder thing Hardy did, it made it so intimidating. And Mendelsohns reacting is just muah
A sequel trilogy based on Batman Beyond with Robin Blake as Batman with a Mission Impossible type feel to it could be awesome. Bale could return as an Alfred type of supporting role, being Robin’s trainer, mentor, and man in the chair.
Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy is sublime.
"The good the bad the ugly" is the best third act ever
The main problem with DKR is that there just had to be a twist of course, and that led to Bane being reduced to Talia's love sick puppy.
The twist didn’t reduce Bane to anything, Bane was still the ultimate badass
AND THEN SHE WENT AHEAD AND DIED HORRIBLY .😑😒
What a dumb critique
He still destroyed Batman.
of course insecure incels would have a problem with that. He also wasn't a love puppy but I guess human connection is hard to understand for some
I actually really liked this movie. I just didn't like that it was the end of the Nolan Trilogy. I felt this story needed more movies to be complete.
It does have flaws though.
Talia reveal was too obvious IMO
Bane getting just shot and killed out of nowhere was lame.
A lot of people hate this film. I love it. It's one of my favorite movies. It's cerebral and symbolic, rather than direct.
Dark Knight Rises is an awesome movie and a worthy finale to what is still the best CBM trilogy ever. Tom Hardy was superb as Bane. That scene where he breaks Batman gave me the chills. It was an unreal experience. It was heart stopping (narrator: of course, his heart did not stop).
severely overrated
I always wondered what would a Nolanverse version of the Justice League look like
@@NIDELLANEUM Eh see I dont see Bale batman with the Justice League I see him more tackling other anti heroes or teaming up with other heroes withoutsuper powers like Green Arrow and Batman brave and the bold or Ted Kord Blue Beetle.
The only movie I've ever seen on a midnight showing because I'm a huge Batman fan and no matter what people think this was the perfect ending to the trilogy. The scenes of the GCPD chasing Batman were actually downtown Los Angeles I recongnized many street signs.
Yeah, it's the "weakest" film in the trilogy but I still loved it. Saw it 3 times at my local 70mm IMAX theater!
is it me or at minute 1:58, the voice sounds like he's having a stroke?
Batman: So you broke my back, good for you....... GOOD FOR YOU 😅
Warners begged Nolan to film in digital 3D to capitalize on the hot new cinematic trend following Avatars success, then tried to force a 3D conversion on the film in post production, but both times Christopher Nolan refused, opting instead to push for the IMAX aspect ratio, which he has since become synonymous with, and has yet to do any films in 3D, although Inception came close, receiving a test conversion before Nolan decided the technology wasn't there yet.
One of the greatest, most logically complete and fulfilling trilogies ever filmed. Rises takes a back seat to neither of its predecessors.
I would gladly watch a part 4.
Me too with Batman & Robin teaming up
Nice video; I'd like it if in one of your next videos you'll talk about a confrontation between Rocky and Raging Bull.
It would be a really nice comparison where you will make many fanf of the genre happy.
When I left the cinema, one question that I had was: how could anyone not notice the story was copied from "The World is Not Enough"??
First time watchinf a video from this channel. Why is his voice like that?
I wish we had gotten a 4th film. Instead we got Batman vs Superman😢
Yeah me too riddler would've been an antagonist in 4th dark knight
Another memory of that day is Bill Cower giving a speech and then walking towards some landmines on the field. "Gotham, this is your reckoning."
I also remember that kid singing the Natrional Anthem like 15 times... okay, maybe it wasn't that much but it felt like it lol
What happened was quite possibly the most badass Batman movie of all time (TDK is flat out better but you can’t deny Rises is cooler)
Yeh true better film but damn hardy was creepy as hell as bane
Probably the peak of DC's cinematic achievements. Will Gunn manage to outdo them?
he will not
Yeah but James Gunn is a different director than Christopher Nolan. At best he could be compared with Zack Snyder

16:28 That’s what the fuck happened to this film. I still remember coming home after the midnight screening I attended to this news.
I love TDKR, but dang seeing Joker embrace the chaos of Gotham’s reckoning and its citizens eating each other similar to Scarecrow would have been cool and made the movie feel even more alive.
The Joker from TDK could literally sit around watching paint dry and it would be 1000x more entertaining than anything in "The Batman".

Yeah sure
Shout out to my hometown Nottingham which is featured in the film. Wollaton Hall doubles as Wayne Manor. I used to drive home from work and purposely past the set to try and catch a glimpse of what was going on. Definitely the most exciting thing to happen to the city until Forest got promoted last year!
What happened was that everyone enjoyed it when they saw it, then thought about it afterwards and realized it's contrived, ridiculous nonsense.
It made over 1 billion.that's wtf happened.

I dunno but the breaking the back moment looked....Weird like he bounced off rubber rather than what happened in the comic
I remember after Heath Ledger died Christopher Nolan penned an amazing tribute. I highly recommend checking it out.
Bane breaking Batman's back was taken directly from the Knightfall comics of the 90's and used as an easter egg for the fans by Nolan. Look into it.
It's a good book end to arguably the best trilogy in movies.
To This Day I Still Imitate Tom Hardy's Bane Voice All The Time. I Also Imitate Hugo Weaving's Agent Smith Voice All The Time As well.
Heath did for the joker what Oliver Reed did for Bill Sykes in films based on Oliver Twist, in my view

In closing I am not making excuses
Only stating the characterization options of nearly every writer that has written the for him..... with a few noted exceptions
Yeah that movie felt very much like a run to the finish line.
I wish they would release the unused Bane stuff. There was a whole fight scene in the prison with him that was filmed.
In my opinion it was set back by trying to live up to The Dark Knight and Heath Ledger's masterful performance. But you just can't force the kind of performance were it's the actor vanishes and it's character there and the audience just becomes completely entranced and just absorbs the scene with their full attention.
Anne H was perfect for Cat Woman, Her huge eyes sold it.
I still remember the commercial where Bane broke Batman’s mask 😳😱😭 I was 11 & he’s my favorite superhero
