    I'm 92kg atm and was out on my Plus today on a Naish Hover 110L Jet 2000 wing 450 stabilizer with plenty of power for efoiling.

    I live in a place in Central Queensland with very small weak wind swell generated waves (usually about waist high occasionally bigger if its a ground swell from the NE) that break close to shore and want to get on the wave (prone foil) much earlier well before it starts to break, maybe 50 meters further out. I am just under 80kg. Do I need the plus or regular foil drive ?

    • @foildrive
      @foildrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Either is going to give you a massive boost to get up on foil faster. The Assist still provides around 6 times your human paddling strength, it just doesn't quite have the run time, thrust and features of the Assist PLUS. So really it comes down to budget and how much you want to paddle. Please also keep in mind both systems are designed for SUP's or larger Prone boards with decent volume. See Dominic Hosykns videos about small board with the Foil Drive. Basically you need to keep the box above the water level when your getting started for the wireless link to the controller to function. If you have further questions the Foil Dive Owners Group on Facebook is a great place for real world customer feedback and experience and feel free to email support@foildrive.com if you don't find the info you need on the group or our website.

    will the aluminum propeller be available as an upgrade for the standard Assist?

    • @foildrive
      @foildrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The alloy props were specifically designed for the PLUS. While the alloys will fit the current Assist, we have not completed testing on their performance on the water in real life. We have had a very early report from a customer/tester that they may have a bit less top end thrust than the Standard White props however this has not been varified by us yet.
      On the PLUS where they were designed for, it is a noticible difference in top en thrust and effeciency smoothness. We will do a whole video talking about the alloy props on the PLUS. Surface driving (ie prop not fully underwater) the Alloys vs the Standard whites is a crazy difference!

      @@foildrive A aluminium prop with more pitch for top end speed may be another good additional prop option.

      I did see Dominic Hoskyns' video, which was helpful. A little confused about how the hand controller works when winging... I wonder if the paddle mount works with the boom on the Duotone slick?

    • @foildrive
      @foildrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RikkHansen Hey mate,
      yeah this is deffinatly something we are lacking on content for. To be compleatly honest our team and local crew here are all pretty keen on surf foiling or Down Winding so its hard to get footage!
      The controller mount should be able to mount to a Duotone boom, we have also seen people use a length of electrical conduit or other tube that gets secured between two handles and then the controller mount on there.
      Due to the many different types of wings and personal prefrence ect its hard to have a one size fits all solution for the wings like we do for a paddle which is very constant and really only one way to grab them!
      Cheers BEn

      @@foildrive Hi Ben, do you see an issues mounting the controller on a wing with soft handles (ie.e no bar)? Any DIY videos or pics you could point me to? thx

    • @shiregopro
      @shiregopro ปีที่แล้ว

      @@george2036 We have seen some crew just use duct tape or zip ties/straps to secure to soft handles. Alternatively just having the controller on a leach on your wrist works totally fine for me. You can hold the wing with a few fingers and the controller with the remainder and once your up and flying you can just drop the controller on the lanyard. Personally this is what i do with any type of handle. - Ben

      @foildrive  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@george2036 Hi George, I'd suggest jumping on our facebook owners group and searching the key word Wing. There's a lot of different techniques that people are using on their wings with the controller, most opt to just hold it and once up letting it hang from your wrist. Others have made a poly pipe shim to go around their soft handle then use the paddle mount.

    Awesome Stuff can't wait to buy it! does people do extra security to the box incase of wipeouts in the surf?
    I wonder who will be the 1st to put the box inside the board !!

    • @foildrive
      @foildrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have a few different install options - The most secure being our mounting Base Plate. This attaches using foot strap holes/screws, the box is then attaches to the plate and a strap over the top.
      Something always has to give, as why we use the Dual Lock, in combination with the strap you'd be smooth sailing in most conditions!
      We have multiple customers who have already custom made boards to recess the box, part of the bonus of our retro-fit design is being able to swap and change as little or as much as you like when it comes to the set up!

    how much time or playing minutes the plus can do?

    • @foildrive
      @foildrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul, it depends on numerous variables like rider weight, foil selection and how trigger happy you are. A rider of around 80kg on large wings can expect around 30-40 minutes

      Unfortunatly it is not practical nor economical to upgrade existing Assist systems to the new Assist PLUS as all of the electronics are different, box layout, battery capacity and voltage, chargers ect

    How does the motor deal with salt water? It doesn’t look like a sealed system? How is Longevity?

    • @foildrive
      @foildrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Motor is fully sealed internally and ceramic bearings. We have motors both in house and with some of our early test riders that are 2 years old that are still looking and running fresh! The key with any marine equipment is propper cleaning and care after every use and when in storage.

  • @JetSurfingNation

    So basically it became Efoil?

    • @foildrive
      @foildrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We believe it still sits in a class of its own when it comes to flat water foiling. A "traditional" e-foil is super heavy, super powerful and has long endurance. The Assist PLUS is still super light weight at only 3.7kg and is still a retro-fit kit for your existing gear.
      Some riders may prefer 1.5hr run time and burning around at 50km/hr on an e-foil but for us we prefer light weight, nimble and using our exising surf, wing and DW gear on days there is not much happening or to practice pumping turning, teaching others ect.
      For surfing, DW its just everything of the current Assist, just plus a little more!
      Unlocking more fun things in different ways really!

      @@foildrive I tried a Lift efoil. Heavy and long runtime. Kinda fun.
      Light way more appealing.
      I'm 65kg and I have a 75L , 5ft board.
      How long does you battery last on flat water? (Roughly.)
      In the vid you seem to be using bigger boards and paddles. How long can I ride with those?
      I would use an efficient foil.
      (I understand when on the wave no energy is used.)
