@@Peapodzilla they are but there is extra metal on the bottom and they are way out of balance in terms of output. The bridge was 10k and the neck was 6K.
@@taylornutt i measured my bridge and it was 14k and thru a 1 meg pot it was nigh impossible to get both a loud and clean tone, even through my twin reverb. I also replaced mine, with avri 65 jazzmaster pickups.
I strung mine with "8's" (Ernie Ball "Slinky" 12-string set), and I actually lowered the bridge. It has low, smooth, no-buzz action. I'm thinking of switching my pickups to proper Jazzmaster pickups with actual individually magnetized pole-pieces. In the meantime, the hot, stock, bridge pickup has come in handy in a blues jam. The middle position is quite chimey-jangly enough for now.
The pickups in this guitar are indeed flat and wide, as Jazzmaster pickups are supposed to be, but they have magnets underneath them, like P-90's do, instead of individually magnetized pole-pieces like a proper Jazzmaster pickup has.
@@ice9snowflake187 I know that the J Mascis JM pickups are indeed as you describe but I thought that these where the same as in the Classic Vibe JM which I thought were proper (although hotter) proper JM pups. I have this guitar but have yet to take good look at the pups so I will take your word on the subject. One thing I will say for sure though is these pickups sound nothing like the P90's in my Firebird.
Play some Bind Wilie McTell! It's nice to hear an electric 12-string played like a regular guitar: everybody else demo-ing this treats it like a gimmick to play Byrds and Beatles riffs on.
@@AndyWattGuitar The style of bridge here makes Rickenbacker-stringing a bit different, in that the main strings are through-body, and the octaves are top-loaded. Switching those positions will have an effect beyond the mere order of the strings, possibly.
yeah my Indonesian 40th anniversary Jazzmaster came with a litthe bug i had to put some wood glue in the saddle screws in the bridge. Quick fix though.
I guess they're not all perfect, but great value if you're willing to do some DIY fixes! Love my 40th Anniversary Strat - I'd like to try the Jazzmaster version sometime.
You're right- but the "Jazzmaster" pickups on this guitar aren't proper Jazzmaster pickups with individually magnetized pole pieces; they're more like P-90's, having bar magnets under the poles like they do.
Great playing! ✨
Nice playing man
The cheeky smile says it all!
Very Interesting !
I shimmed the neck, raised the saddles, and installed actual Jazzmaster pickups in mine. An absolute winner.
Dont these come with jm pickups?

Thanks for the video. Not P90's, they are Jazzmaster pickups which are flatter and wider.

I’m thinking of converting one to lefty

I LOVE THE BYRDS...BUT, THANK YOU, FOR NOT PLAYIN' MR TAMBOURINE MAN...✌❤ from HAMPTON, VA
Lovely vid! String it ricky-style and gives us some Marr circa-The Smiths riffs.
Now that's a good plan!

Whoa! Record the Beatles Blackbird.
One of my favourites! It would sound nice with a 12 string....
