    Last September I saw this video while doing research on Workhorse Smokers, at the time I had gotten an email from Franklin Pits stating they were still over a year away from building the smoker I had on order. Needless to say I ordered a 1975 and took delivery in Southern California last Sunday.

    Awesome Smoker!
    I’ve spent a lot of time researching high-quality craft smokers, and I believe this one is the absolute best as far as backyard smokers go. I really enjoy your videos! I’m making a smoker and I’m curious about a couple of measurements on this one:
    1. How wide is the cookdoor opening? It looks like 40 inches?
    2. How wide is the trim piece that goes around the edge of the cook door? is it 1 1/2 inch wide?
    3. What is the frame of the cooking grates made of? It looks like half inch solid square bar.
    4. How wide is the firebox door opening?
    5. How tall is the firebox door opening if you measure along the curve of the firebox instead of a straight line?
    6. How far apart is the upper cooking grate from the lower cooking great?
    7. What’s the distance from the top of the cook chamber to the top of the firebox?
    8. How tall is the hole that lets smoke in from the firebox? It looks like it’s half moon shaped with a straight line across the top of the hole maybe 8 or 10 inches tall in the center?
    Thanks for showing us your awesome smoker!

    We just bought the Old Country Pecos, it's our first offset or smoker of any kind. We've had it for about 3 or 4 weeks now and have used it about 4 times. We really like it, it does a pretty awesome job for what it is although I made the mistake of buying a combination of Hickory and Oak in a bag from a grocery store near here and it was a terrible experience right off the bat. It wouldn't burn worth a sh*t and smoked terrible. I had to have my wife keep an eye on it while I drove about 8 miles up the bypass to Acadamy Sports and get a bag of kiln dried Apple wood. I'll never do that again! Lol 😆
    Anyway, your smoker looks like the bomb, that and Franklin Smokers look damn good too. I'm going to check ✔ these 1975 smokers out online, the Franklin smokers start out I think around $3000.00 so that's off limits for us right now. Thanks for showing us yours and happy smoking!

    • @BackyardWarrior
      @BackyardWarrior  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Two square grates on cooking level...now it depends on the size of your brisket.up to six if they are 12-14 lbs . I'd say 4 brisket of 15-18 lbs. and maybe 3 briskets of 18+lbs.dont forget ,meat shrinks after few hours of cooking.again that's just an estimate that depends on size,trimming and brisket placement on the cooker.thank you for watching.
