- The great Thomas Lang ladies and gents! 👏
Thomas doesn't make his way to Berlin much these days and we are fortunate to be hosting a 4 hour mini-bootcamp with Thomas in October, right here in Berlin.
Thomas will be sharing all his insight in a very intimate setting to just 15 drummers and we only have a few tickets left. If you want to join us, be sure to check it out below!
Get your ticket here: shop.ticketpay...
And for those interested, we recorded Thomas' solo some time ago at the Rammstein warehouse in East Berlin, Germany.
We hope you’ll enjoy these lessons by this incredible and crazy drumming monster!
If you want to go deeper, you can sign up to our online school Drumtrainer Online to study courses from the greatest drummers around including Larnell Lewis, Adam Deitch, JR Robinson, Nate Smith, and Mark Guiliana.

These are basically stone killer exercise variations you can find them in the book master studies by joe morello.Thomas Lang as always has taken things a step further by adding a syncopated rhythm with the second hand.
Lang's face: "relaaax"
Two guys faces: "WHAT THE HELLLLLL!!!!" 🤣 Thomas Lang is an absolute alien of drumming!
At the 9:30 Mark that one dude's face was like..
you got to be shiting me
Thomas is a Beast
Utterly brilliant drummer - and educator
Game changer!!! Really enjoyed this lesson, one for my archive :)
Thanks Mr Lang for the wonderful ideas excellently executed!!
Super interesting! While watching the second exercise I thought "hey, I could play some Syncopation patterns with the right hand also!"
Super creative exercise.
Love this... I need this exercise!
Amazingly humble man. A true artist yet willing to teach. This man is one of the best of the best.
Perfectly stated, my friend.
these are great!
Was hard to keep up but i can see it definitely bringing my weak hand up to speed.
I would love to be a student of his
Brilliant ❤
Thomas Lang is the David Goggins of drums!!! 🥁🤘
Those two student dudes are insanely talented. They pulled off the last exercise without so much problem on the spot.
Hahaha…..what? Embarrassing.
@@mattdelany6799What's embarrassing exactly?
@@amirmonshi7560 YOU. These guys are good enough to smell Thomas Lang’s shit. That’s it.
@@mattdelany6799 I don't know what you mean by that or why you are attacking me😂 I just find it very impressive that they could pull off a complex exercise immediately without so much struggle. I think everyone knows that they are not at Thomas Lang's level (If that ticked you off?) but as students who practice a complex pattern for the first time they deserve some props
😃
So much intresting thanks a lot !!
Thank you too!
amazing! and he can talk doing it. I am struggling at 80bpm
What a great find for a practice break, gonna try this right away! ✌️
First thing I notice is Thomas is the only one keeping time with his feet
I saw that too
The guy on his left is too
Because thomas is the only one to be relaxed😂
he’s the only one who can do it all fluently that’s why lmao
Yeah I wonder why the other guys are not tap in their feet like they’re supposed to
Is Thomas using tenor sticks in this video, specifically the Vic Firth MTS1 model?
Excellent, but very hard though!
Just think triplets
What sticks does Thomas Lang use in the video?
Does anyone know what sticks Thomas is using?
It was interesting to see TL becoming human with that polyrhythm... ;)
what is Lang wearing on his right wrist??
T he guts of the two other gentleman is huge. ❤❤❤❤😂
Can anyone tell me are they using a Moeller technique? Or just wrist and fingers
Looks like a combination of both... Wrists and fingers when keeping strokes at the same height, bringing in Moeller technique for accents (whipping motion can be seen on last excercises).
🤘🏾🙌🏾
a quick question that the stick is slides forward when I'm stroking. How can I solve that problem??
You won't like my answer. Continue practicing and try to concentrate. Don't stop because of that.
Slow down your playing so that you can see, and control, where the tip hits the surface. Playing slow helps to develop stick control. Speed comes in time.
❤
Dream come true if Thomas looked my direction and simply said, “good”…just saying.
WHO are These guys
R2 D2 socks!!!!!
Очень крутой дядечка.
POST SCRIPT.....whatever you want to call it..... i wish i could play it as cleanly as TL
❤❤❤❤❤
RUFF = short single stroke just sayin rrL llR =DRAG
"Ruff" is another name for a drag.
"In the case of the drag family that rudiment is the drag ruff (also known as ruff or simply as drag). The drag ruff works a lot like the flam. It has two or more grace notes that are followed by a primary stroke. Two-stroke grace notes are played with bounced double strokes."
Ruff is two singles played at twice the value of the preceding strokes.
A diddle is a double played at twice the value of the preceding strokes.
A drag has no rhythmic value, just like a single grace note.
I'm with you. Ruffs are singles. Drags are doubles. He's doing a drag at the end of the bar.
Полмира как из зоны откинулись...Синий справа тому подтверждение.Томас гениальный барабанщик!
Honestly, Lars is only have to do sticking and floor tapping every single day and he'll be more awesome.
Had a lesson with him.....the guy is far ahead he must be lonely !!
Thanks for sharing!
I might try this exercise
Alone in my room
With the door closed
And locked
When nobody else is home
And the neighbors are away.
'Promosm'
7:12 he plays wrong! 😮 he‘s correcting himself on the second try. didn‘t expect that from such a master. maybe he had something else in mind (dotted 16th notes🤷🏻♂️) 7:31 now its correct😎
Yep u caught that to
9:34 broke my brain and my mind and my head too.
Think triplets you'll get it, you probably have it already
No tattoos, No piercings, no bullshit. Lang is the best in the world. My advice to all of you is to just quit music, and sell everything.
😂 enough said!
зе бомб
Watching Thomas Lang mess up a 3 over 4 multiple times makes me not feel so shit watching this
THE ONE GUY HAS A TATTOO ON HIS NECK
THE OTHER ON HIS ARMS
GEEKS
I want my hands relaxed and fast, not strong....this ain't weight lifting, strength is not needed
I know what you're saying, but I suggest Thomas Lang's results speak for themselves
@@nickrailsyeah, I don't think he literally meant "strong" . Probably just a weird semantic decision...english is his second language after all
Some people do though. Cool comment bro.
Some of us can actually get to high speed but have difficulties controlling them and make them sound clean, in my case my wrists are kind of weak... strength exercises are the solution for this kind of problem
Relaxed, fast and strong can go together. It will be easier to play soft afterwards; easier to play with dynamics.
Exercise is the worst thing a drummer can do it will destroy all your creativity
What?? Lol
That is so extremely false haha
Wtf what?
Yeah, I rather listen to the "uncreative and untalented" guy in the video😊
Creativity is the ability to perform what you’d like on yr instrument of choice. Knowing how to play yr instrument properly precedes yr ability to be creative.
Creativity without skill is useless.
That is why all those pseudo drummers are sounding flat as a steel no tones no personality
They're Students.
Thomas Lang solo for your review. Creative and technical. th-cam.com/video/5g0MGRaF1oM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-PX0xZ7NxLutjwvs
The heck is wrong with you, making such assumptions about others? smh
It's a bloody practice exercise
NO GROOVE
NO FEEL
NO SOUL
But they're just mechanical exercises to help you improve your technique so playing for real feels/is better, a necessary part of learning/playing drums. They're not grooves as such. Good Athletes go through a lot of routines in their training too.
It's not supposed to have a groove, they're exercises, to build up muscle tone and stamina. Think of it as weight lifting or running.
