- Hey there! Thank you so much for checking out this review of Mythwind, a game I became truly obsessed with from the moment I started playing as the Farmer early last month! From playing five seasons in a row the first night I started playing to introducing the game to Hannah to eventually playing two-handed as both the Farmer and the Crafter simultaneously, I've enjoyed learning how to most efficiently manage each character's abilities and strengths and exploring deeper and deeper into the story and lore of Mythwind! In this video I'll share some reasons why I think Mythwind may or may not be right for you and tell you what to look forward to in the reprint and Friends & Family expansion that's currently live on Kickstarter! Quick update: I played two seasons as the Ranger today (while this video was uploading, incidentally!) and had a lot of fun with it! I will say that, although I was hoping that playing as the Ranger would uncover more of the lore of Mythwind Valley and progress the main storyline along, I found that the outcome of his explorations were much more abstract than narrative! That being said, it's a lot of fun trying to prepare for each day of the expedition and since he takes a fraction of the worker actions as the other characters each season, the game moves along much more quickly! I'm looking forward to rounding out the year as the Ranger and then eventually giving the Merchant and Innkeeper a try! ☺
I love what you said about playing it for over 5 hours when you first got it, into the wee hours of the night! There’s nothing like a great board game that can do that to you! 🙂

I was definitely playing a TON of Glass Road solo (and multiplayer!) when I first got it, too! Such a great game! ☺️ And we haven’t talked about This War of Mine! I actually played the computer game many years ago but haven’t had a chance to try the board game! What do you think about the board game version?

Thank you for being so thorough! The thought of this game is intriguing and I'd love to play through it but I think you solidified my thoughts that it isn't something that's meant to be in my collection

Which character would you want to play first? 👩🏼🌾 And that's a great question! Honestly, I thought this right-for-you, wrong-for-you approach might be more helpful for a game this subjective/unique than just saying what I personally think about the game or giving it my own numerical values! I hope that makes sense! ☺️
@@BoardGameDave Ah yes, that makes sense 👍🏻 the farmer’s board gives me feast for Odin vibes! But the exploration that the Ranger gets to do looks exciting also. Or the innkeeper!
Somehow I didn’t even make that connection but you’re absolutely right! With similarly frustrating but fun and puzzly placement restrictions! 🤣 I did play the Ranger twice today and that was fun! And I’ll probably play the Innkeeper next; I feel like that’ll be such a satisfying puzzle, too! 🏨

It seems like they were very aware of the rules issues (especially with the Crafter) so I’m almost sure that they addressed and/or completely overhauled the rulebook for the second edition!

Looks like it’s $355 but one certainly does not need to back this game at the all-in pledge level! It’s only $85+shipping for the base game level! (Which is still expensive for sure, but not nearly so pricey!) ☺️
