Jon Hopkins’ latest album ‘Singularity’ is out now on Domino Record Co. Listen & buy: smarturl.it/SingularityJH More from Jon Hopkins on TH-cam: smarturl.it/BestOfJonHopkins
This song can make you feel so many different emotions, it's unreal. You can listen to it when you're happy or sad, angry or apathetic. Anything you can think of. This really shows that music is an art, and not made just for dancing or going crazy.
People need to stop bitching.. Coldplay wrote on their blog on april 24th, 2009: "At either end of Coldplay's current album ['Viva la Vida' at the time], you can hear a snippet of a track called Light Through The Veins by Jon Hopkins, the band's friend, collaborator and frequent support act.". Can you say CO-LA-BO-RA-TION?!
Among other emotions, this song embodies thinking about all of the wonderful, close times you've had with people and knowing that those times are all in the past & there is a new chapter about to begin. It is sad to see the old chapter go but it is exciting to see where the new chapter will take you.
thank you, now I can sing with it :). This is one of my favorite songs coldplay ever released, and Jon Hopkins is a beautiful writer and composer. This melody is magic, meditation.
Thats how music works my friend. The 30s-50s were one of the most "sampled" times in music, all of the blues artists and fresh rock artists thrived off of each others creations and built on them.
I like how Coldplay put it at the end of Death and All his Friends on the album so if you have it on repeat, it just fades right back into Life in Technicolor. Chris Martin also puts a pretty sweet harmony to it in Death and All His Friends near the end during the fade-out. Frikin' AWESOME!
Amazing,,,just amazing. Lay down in a field and stare at the sky,,,play this music...imagine and look at the stars, moons, and make a deep thoughts how beautiful this universe is.
Totally agree. It actually made me like Coldplay for the first time. Wasn't a big fan, then heard this and thought they'd really found something. Nice work mr hopkins.
They have credited Jon Hopkins. In fact Jon Hopkins co-produced their album Viva La Vida. Coldplay were so fond of this song that they sampled it and used it for two of their songs. Jon and the Coldplay members are good friends.
upon first listen, one of the most intriguing tracks on Viva La Vida was Life in Technicolor. it's awesome to be able to hear the full version of its intro (this piece) and the rest of the song with vocals (Life in Technicolor ii)
this song has always given me a strange sense of synesthesia, the closest to this phenomenon yet. my senses have always heard these notes as colours. good one, jon
the guys coldplay , listen to the end of death and all of his friends , and the beggining of life in technicolor. its amazing how two tottaly different threads of musical expression join in such piece of music as the one in question.
Jon Hopkins, along with Brian Eno, helped produce Coldplay's album "Viva la Vida and Dealth and All His Friends." "Life in Technicolor" & "Death and All His Friends / The Escapist" take root in Hopkins' melody. Coldplay asked Jon to open for them for a few gigs - he's on the rise. This song makes me shiver every time. Great music!
found this on coldplay's site Good afternoon. At either end of Coldplay's current album, you can hear a snippet of a track called Light Through The Veins by Jon Hopkins, the band's friend, collaborator and frequent support act. That track will be released in full on Hopkins' terrific new album, Insides, on May 4th. But its nine minutes of electro loveliness are currently available to download for free by clicking here. Enjoy! Anchorman
imagine this music playing as you and the one you love got in a fight and after you're driving home and suddenly you stop. and start to cry.. but when the music gets more emotional (0.30) a tear falls from your eye. you don't know what to do. when all hope is lost, you see her there... as you wake up after the fight at 3:27 AM you cry. but then you notice. and you see... The Light Through Your Veins.
very smooth cool piece of music...try to ear the theme "circle". it´s such a stone.... better if have had a good joint and you are listen it in nice pair of phones.
The poor audio quality of this video really doesn't give the song justice. If you still, for whatever reason, remain indifferent to this music and this song, I urge you to please find a better quality version. When you find it, you will understand.
You mean like the live recorded version on events like boiler room and melt!? I agree with you on that, sick bassline and added touches to the overall structure of the track!
Love it! As I've posted on the 9 minute version, simply sublime! If you haven't already done so, do check out the rest of the tracks from the same album also on You Tube.
Music is created not by someone sitting alone copyrighting any notes they can think of, it's created by listening to the sounds and musics around us and going '....hmmmm' :)
does anyone know anything about the video with the sound ??? is it someone's own work, was it drummed up from a video cooker ??? either way, pretty cool...

Hey Domino Co - could you please re-relase this video with upgraded video quality standards? This music deserves to be brought to 2024 :)

We lie awake
And we dream
of making our escape

Fantastic video.
This should be an 1980's classic, not a 2000's classic!
I loved all the song on the album., By far my favorite album ever.

i love it
@AgadoPhotography
Yep.
It was so nice, we had the wind on our faces, this music was blowing your ears of.
After the concert I downloaded hes album.
They collaborated. It's as simple as that. Coldplay does that to fill voids in their albums.
amazing video to an epic track. I can stare at this non stop forever. looks like 15 people need to get themselves a life! x peace Jon
The the song, mate :D really great and chill ;)
Has that great song at the end of a movie quality to it.
Can't take my eyes away from the screen nor can i turn down the volume.

Coldplay used this piece in two of their songs- LITi and a hidden track called "The Escapist". They acknowledged this in their album booklet.
I'd love to see this on a HUGE screen in 3D, that'd rock!!! :-D
umm,,,... AwesomE...!!
I most certainly did. I'm curious though, what's the main alternative?

do these colors at the beginnin' have these actual sound frequencies...?
i mean think about it,
could be...
lo escucho y mi alma es feliz
This was the outro of the last track death and all his friends from their 08 viva la vida album.
haha yeah,
I did read that afterwards :)
but I wrote that just as the music started playing and I was pretty shocked because its exactly the same
coldplay ♥♥

A 9 minute version of this is free on iTunes BTW.
