"Greg Lemond wasn't the first American to win TdF, I was." How epic and yet it remains that people think Greg was the first. These women are so god damn epic and absolutely humble
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful: One of the best cycling films ever made. Intimate, absorbing and compelling, and should be mandatory viewing; and not only for the regular fans of this magnificent sport - for everyone. The exemplary production values of this film - a true and fitting homage to the dedication and professionalism of these extraordinary athletes.
These ladies put to shame all those over paid, pompous, oscar winning, footballers who fall down without being hit and act like they had their legs chopped off. These ladies hit the deck at 40 mph or more and just like any cyclist, get back on their bikes. They dont roll around on the floor looking for sympathy and a penalty like footballers. Much respect for the ladies who also love my sport. Lovely editing with the music in the background to give it some emotion and tension. I really hope there is a full length docu for this that does not focus on one team but the whole event.
Connie Phinny and Marianne Martin (both of whom I'd never heard of) are absolutely inspiring in their down-to-earth-ness. strong women with no need to play victim. fantastic!!!!!
Thank you for making this! Since I was young I always thought the Paris-Roubaix race was the most amazing. Great to see that the ladies FINALLY can enjoy this amazing race.
As a female cyclist I am inspired and Appreciate what these women are doing for womens cycling. Why wouldn’t you watch women out there? Just as dynamic and fun to watch as the men. Keep supporting women on bikes!!! Smiled the whole time watching. Just loved this ❤️
Great film! Nice documentation of the first women's Paris-Roubaix. Thank you for this kind of films. And "go on girls!" - looking forward to the 2nd PR 👍🚴♀️
A brilliant video, i have pure admiration for these ladies it is a long time coming that they race as equals with the men. there is no whining /moaning at all from these brave ladies they just get on with the racing. and i truly hope the governing body of world cycling reconises just how much commitment and guts these girls have. thank you ladies of racing i look forward to every race you take part in.
What a wonderful and deserving step for women's cycling. As a huge fan of women's cyclocross, especially the super strong Dutch girls, I love to watch their strength, skill and success. I just wish the owner of Specialized had controlled his legal team and not made problems for Cafe Roubaix Bicycle Studio In Canada regarding the alleged ownership of the Roubaix name. I got rid of every piece of Specialized equipment I owned when that happened in support for Dan. I was a customer of his. It was one of the best bike shops. Sadly, it's closed now.
Honestly how cool was this video. I felt every bit of energy, the joy, the anticipation, the love this video brought for these women cyclist and finally the opportunity to cycle the Roubaix. More power to you ladies and equality 🤍
Really enjoyed this film, esp seeing the icons and backstory of women's cycling. Helps to bolster me, a 60 year old woman, who rides road (and a highly responsive Specialized Cross Bike complete with studs during the snow, slush and subzero temps) :-))
Great documentary! I have to say I now love looking at women's races.. I find myself leaving streams of men's races to go see the women do their thing!! They need our support to keep rocking it!!
17:49 RESPECT FOR ANY WOMAN OF THE WORLD riding any kind of BIKE MTB, ROAD, TRAC, BMX, Beach Cruiser, FIXED (Messenger Courier), Cyclocross, Downhill etc etc
Suuuuper big big big fans, cycling makes life worth living, the most spectacular adventure of life riding the bicycles out there in the wild is the best feeling in the world.. wishing you bring this awesome Spring Renaissance spirit every single nation of the world, make France great again fans, oh yezzzzzz you can do remarcable things, this is a very good point for a start indeed
I hope this succeeds. I have 2 teenage daughters I’ve tried to get into cycling, but zero interest. Women’s cycling really needs a Serena Williams/ Lance Armstrong/Micheal Jordan/ Tiger Woods type character to get them in our young girls face regularly. I feel that’s what it’s really missing is a massive Nike type marketing push with a GOAT and a face of the sport. Right now it’s a sport without a face. Lance pretty much single handed made cycling popular in the US to the general public. That’s what Women’s cycling needs. Until it can be made mainstream popular I think it always be in the background. I bet 99% of women’s cycling Viewership is men. Need a find a way to get the normal every day lady into it. Look at Woman’s gymnastics. They have several faces and it’s blown up.
All good points, but perhaps we can hope for someone a bit more ethical with integrity than LA as a role model for women's cycling. As a father of a teenager, he also has no interest in cycling.
@@quantumdecoherence1289 Heh, good point. I think we’re on the cusp of some woman breaking out and being this leader though. So many amazing women riders right now. And have been forever. Can’t remember the name, but in the 60s a woman broke the 12-hour TT record!
absolute legends, every single one of them. now let's keep watching their races and make sure they get compensated the same as the men, the peloton wage gap is ridiculous.
"The story was that one rider exploded the peloton on the first sector of cobbles and is now 1 minute 58 seconds ahead..." Well, one rider did not explode the peloton, that's a lie, but she made a bit of tempo, got a surprise gap and the peloton thought it was too early to follow. After her first surprise had sunken in, this rider heard she had a minute and her team manager said, well, keep going. The first meaningful reaction in the closed peloton came at less than thirty kilometers to go, with an advantage of 2 minutes and 40 seconds for the leader in the race. This was far too late to have an impact on the eventual winner. Boring. A travesty.
Yes, this is wrong… I don’t know if you heard there was a pandemic that has destroyed the global supply chain and bike manufacturing got hit particularly hard…

@@daleanthony4343 thank you so much!
Same sis!!
It's about time to showcase the women of cycling at the Tour De France and Paris Roubaix. We need this to be run every year from now on. Love from 🇨🇦.
Excellent video, thanks for making it. Heartbreaking seeing the footage of Amy. Much love to her and her family, friends and wider cycling family. xx

Yes, that stood out watching cyclo-cross and the recent World Cup matches.

Such a good video. So fantastic to see these racers on the PR course. The dedication at the end blew me away.
This was lovely, as was seeing Amy in the film.

Still got my 2012 S-Works Roubaix. Lighter than anything out there in shops today for road race. So stiff and easy to work on.
we are so happy for you
Discs FTW !
Amazing film. Looking forward to the race on Saturday. Go Ladies.

WAIT, this is a bit of a tribute to "A Sunday in Hell", which also starts with a silent mechanic!
Of course, Roubaix is the mechanic's nightmare. So many opportunities for for equipment failure to determine the outcome rather than the riders.
Awesome video.

brilliant, got a few tears in the eyes after that!!
As an avid cyclist and father of two daughters this race was long overdue. Chapeau ladies.
Love it! Great film. Should have been longer
This is so inspiring to watch! Can’t wait to watch more excellent women’s races!
Great movie! Bravo to all of them
All you need is “grinta” and “grazia”, qualities that every Woman has.

Why can't Specialized make their own shows about cycling?
We're listening....

Eh, at a typical closing pace of 8-10 seconds a kilo, there was time.
Is it wrong that my first reaction to this video is CAN YOU PLEASE SELL US SOME F*CKING BIKES?? WHERE ARE THE BIKES???
Yes, this is wrong… I don’t know if you heard there was a pandemic that has destroyed the global supply chain and bike manufacturing got hit particularly hard…
@@JesseStarrPhoto I know but I hope they get those problems sorted soon. This marketing is such a tease when there's no inventory. Good film, though.
Does anyone know the song that started at around 1:40 ? It's such a great piano play and I would love to find it. Maybe @specializedbicycles?
