Truth or Square was my personal childhood SpongeBob game. It was one of the first games I got on my Wii and I personally had a great time, probably wouldn't hold up for me today but I enjoyed it as a kid.

Battle for Bikini Bottom is one of my favorite games ever. I remember playing the movie game some as a kid but I never finished it. I’m going to try and play it again soon, why do you think it’s the best?
The SpongeBob game I played the most growing up was BfBB, got it as a random gift not expecting much but was really impressed by how good it actually was! I recently started The Cosmic Shake, and while it starts off a bit slower than I’d prefer I’m really enjoying it so far
i got the movie on my 5th birthday so that one was the one i was growing up with the most, later on i had revenge of the flying dutchman, lights camera pants and others and relatively late i got bfbb ...but i def should've gotten it earlier since it's on the same quality level as the movie, they're the 2 best spongebob games made
Creature From the Krusty Krab was an amazing game. So many different settings, each with such cool and unique atmosphere, and the stellar soundtrack!! This was my first Spongebob game, on the PS2, and I still love to boot it up and play it to this day. Hearing you call it a “generally mediocre experience” tore my heart apart
especially after seeing revenge of the flying dutchman being put above it, honestly he must have did that out of nostalgia otherwise i can´t explain myself how this booty buns looking game is supposed to be "above average" this game literally came out only a year before bfbb and looks like a adobe flash game

it's good that they reused a lot of stuff for the movie because that makes it feel like a bfbb2 since we all loved bfbb so much, it's like the 2 similar games but each have their unique touch to it ..i'd even love a 3rd or 4th game in that style or with these assets, because the overall base of what made those 2 games possible was just sooo good

My little brother broke our disc for Revenge of the Flying Dutchman for Gamecube. I remember my grandma buying us Battle for Bikini Bottom (thinking it was the same thing) to replace it and we were upset that it wasn't the same game lol Best mistake she ever made!
Battle for Bekini Bottom is definitely my favorite game of all time and the only problem I can think of is Mr. Krabs voice actor. Sucks they couldnt get time for the remake. Definitely gonna cop the new game tho it looks amazing!
Revenge of the Flying Dutchman was one of the first video games I ever got as a kid and I loved it, it was on a blue disc for PS2 which was part of the reason why the loading times sucked, but if you had it for GameCube, it was no problem at all. I actually enjoyed the story from that game along with the different areas SpongeBob had to collect the letter tiles in. I’m glad it was ranked high on this list.
BfBB on Gamecube was one of my introductory games back in the day.Then I played Creature from the Krusty Krab. It was so bizarre and different that I thought it was so cool lol. Would replay those levels over and over. FINALLY got into Rehydrated recently after seeing all these Cosmic Shake reviews. Excited to give it a try.
Creature from the Krusty Krab is really underrated in my opinion. It has so much bonus content and mini games. It’s very stylized and has an amazing soundtrack. The story is interesting and I actually found the spongebob and Patrick parts to be more fun than the plankton parts. Obviously BFBB is still peak but I feel like CFTKK is slept on
Alright, TTJ, you talked me into it. I came here looking at old Spongebob games for nostalgia sake, after being hesitant on buying Cosmic Shake. After seeing gameplay and your perspective, I have to try it for myself.
When I was younger as a kid I used to play Battle for Bikini Bottom, Spongebob Movie game, and Creature of the Krusty Krab. And this is bringing back so many memories. Those games were so fun to play back then. And then when I found out they were remaking the Battle for Bikini Bottom game I was so happy and excited about it. And then I just started playing the Cosmic Shake game so it's been a good time for me playing the Spongebob games. I wished I would've played the Revenge of the Flying Dutchman game that's the one that I heard good things about but never owned the game to play it. Wished I did. I also played some of that Atlantis game that you were talking about and to me it wasn't as good as Battle for Bikini Bottom, the movie game, and Creature of the Krusty Krab in my opinion
7:20 The whole reason the levels aren't exactly referencing the episodes themselves in Truth or Square is because SpongeBob enters a depressive episode due to forgetting where he put the formula, so all his memories are merging together because he just can't remember properly. Truth or Square may have been mediocre, but the psp version was a great time killer when I was a kid, especially with the mini games.
Great vid! I absolute adored Battle for Bikini Bottom as a little kid, and I loved Rehydrated even more than the original. And I just finished The Cosmic Shake, and I think I liked it even more! I just had such a blast with it

Next is spongebob SquarePants movie game rehydrated but instead of heavy iron studios it’s purple lamp. I really want to turn on and off strobe lights aka repeating affects.
1st SpongeBob game I played was SpongeBob SquarePants Super Sponge, then Revenge Of The Flying Dutchman, PS2/GameCube Creature From The Krusty Krab, OG Battle Of Bikini Bottom on PC but I was stuck on Hall Of Arms anyway, SpongeBob's Boating Bash, Atlantis SquarePantis, Rehydrated Battle Of Bikini Bottom and The Cosmic Shake

And while the games didn't really differ much from PS2 to GameCube, I'd also get the GBA versions. They would usually change the genres due to the Handheld's limited capabilities. And as such, many of the games that had the same names like Battle for Bikini Bottom, Creature From the Krusty Krab, Lights,Camera, SquarePants, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie: The Game, and even more were ALL essentially different games altogether on the GBA/DS, compared to their HC counterparts. And surprisingly, some were just as good, if not outright BETTER than the HC ones. Since they had to think creatively to get them to tell the same exact story with less power.

Finally some love for the movie game. I adored BFBB, but the movie game was my most played hands down. As a 10 year old kid, I dragged my dad to the theater to see the movie, and adored the game. You should look at and make videos on the horrifying handheld counterparts to these games though. They're ABYSMAL
i got cosmic shake for the switch and it's an amazing spongebob game and the last spongebob game i played was the movie that was YEARS ago but man the cosmic shake is great i recommend it i might just buy it again for ps4 👍
my copy of revenge of the flying dutchman never worked right on ps2 bc of some weird purple layer on the CD. when it did work though I remember loving it as a kid. not as much as Scooby doo night of 100 frights but up there

I haven’t played a lot of these game btw I’ve played both versions of BFBB and I own both on PS4 and NGC and I e also played the Movie Game the rest I’ve either seen previews like CFTKK & ROTFD
I grew up playing a lot of the 3D SpongeBob and Nick games in the mid-to-late 2000s into the early 2010s. I remember trying to play Revenge of the Flying Dutchman on PS2, and that version is infamous for not functioning. It will inevitably crash and force you back to the PS2s menu screen. Been considering grabbing the original Xbox versions of the SpongeBob games that got them for old time's sake.
One notable exception to the 3D platformer is Lights, Camera, Pants. That game was fun asf. The thing I hate about Revenge of the Flying Dutchman is that the entirety of the music is relegated to the costumes you use in the game. You'll spend a majority of the game in the jellyfishing outfit, and as decent as the music was, the jellyfishing song gets very annoying after a few hours.
My personal ranking would likely be: 9. Heropants 8. Plankton's Robotic Revenge 7. Revenge of the Flying Dutchman 6. Creature from the Krusty Krab 5. Atlantis Squarepantis DS 4. Truth or Square 3. Cosmic Shake 2. The Movie Game 1. Battle for Bikini Botttom I think every game from 5 and up is good btw, and I can't help but feel you were a bit harsh on Truth or Square. It's a fine game if nothing special whereas Creature and Ductchman are both far more boring and less technically sound.
7:17 I love the animation for those attacks. I love The Cosmic Shake, and i hope that Purple Lamp will make even more Spongebob games. Maybe with secret unlockable level at the end of them. I played Atlantis Squarepantis and Plankton's Robotic Revenge growing up Atlantis Squarepantis kept me more interested and as for the other one I never got past the second area it was that boring even as a 9 year old playing does really make me wish I kept my gamecube and played bfbb

Edit: is it bad that I prefer the pc port of the spongebob movie 😅😅 I hated the ps2/Xbox of it cause the slide levels pissed me off, it would be like you need this much coins to get to next level and I'm like bruh just let me continuee
Now, not exactly a platformer, but SpongeBob SquarePants Atlantis Squarepantis is equally a very fun and very tedious game, what I do love about it mainly is that you can unlock this spoof "developer commentary" on every level but it's just the characters playing their characters and not a real commentary, that in my opinion has phenomenal charm. Definitely not the best game ever, but I'll always have a soft spot for it.
The DS version of Atlantis SquarePants. The game is more of a 3D platformer unlike the Wii/PS2 version. The GBA version is basically the same as the DS but in 2D.

It started to air before the game's release during it's development, but half of the episodes aired after. The first 3 seasons of Spongebob had a really odd airing order. The first episode of season 3 aired October 2001 and the last aired October 2004. Season 3 started to air before Season 2 aired all of it's episodes.
The only thing that angered me in cosmic shake was the final boss, for 1 it doesn't have music and for 2 the way to defeat the boss sucks. You just do the same thing.
Revenge of the Flying Dutchman was my first ps2 game. Back before I understood a single word of English. As such it took me literal years to complete.

One notable exception to the 3D platformer is Lights, Camera, Pants. That game was fun asf.
The thing I hate about Revenge of the Flying Dutchman is that the entirety of the music is relegated to the costumes you use in the game. You'll spend a majority of the game in the jellyfishing outfit, and as decent as the music was, the jellyfishing song gets very annoying after a few hours.

I think every game from 5 and up is good btw, and I can't help but feel you were a bit harsh on Truth or Square. It's a fine game if nothing special whereas Creature and Ductchman are both far more boring and less technically sound.

I love The Cosmic Shake, and i hope that Purple Lamp will make even more Spongebob games. Maybe with secret unlockable level at the end of them.
Oh and i love the design of the worlds, it's not like Mario where it's ice/fire/grass worlds. It's much more original

Atlantis Squarepantis kept me more interested and as for the other one I never got past the second area it was that boring even as a 9 year old playing

Creatures of Krusty Krab is actually one of my favorites. It was unique and it felt badasss. Edit: is it bad that I prefer the pc port of the spongebob movie 😅😅 I hated the ps2/Xbox of it cause the slide levels pissed me off, it would be like you need this much coins to get to next level and I'm like bruh just let me continuee
Now, not exactly a platformer, but SpongeBob SquarePants Atlantis Squarepantis is equally a very fun and very tedious game, what I do love about it mainly is that you can unlock this spoof "developer commentary" on every level but it's just the characters playing their characters and not a real commentary, that in my opinion has phenomenal charm. Definitely not the best game ever, but I'll always have a soft spot for it.
The DS version of Atlantis SquarePants. The game is more of a 3D platformer unlike the Wii/PS2 version. The GBA version is basically the same as the DS but in 2D.
Cosmic shake is okay. Feels way too easy tho…

12:51 Correction: Season 3 had been out for over a year bbefore the game's release.
It started to air before the game's release during it's development, but half of the episodes aired after.
The first 3 seasons of Spongebob had a really odd airing order. The first episode of season 3 aired October 2001 and the last aired October 2004. Season 3 started to air before Season 2 aired all of it's episodes.

The only thing that angered me in cosmic shake was the final boss, for 1 it doesn't have music and for 2 the way to defeat the boss sucks. You just do the same thing.
