Yes to year-round sweater knitting! I'm a new subscriber and I just love to listen to you talk about your beautiful designs, your nerdy loves, and your humorous outlook on life in all its fuckery. Speaking of which, I hope your Dan feels better very soon (and that you don't catch it!)
After following you a while on the Insta, I'm just now stumbling across your episodes here! You're such a joy to listen to and your nerdiness is delightful to my own nerdy self! I love the relative focus of your episodes and this episode's LOTR emphasis was great! Thanks for posting! ❤
Loved this video! I am oodles excited for the cardigan version of I Am No Man! Sorry to hear about Dan, hopefully he gets better soon and its too bad for you all. I gotta say I'm a year-round-knitter. I do have those moments every year where I try to knit for the season I'm in and I just can't. My mojo dies until I allow myself to knit the sweater I want, the shawls I want, and let myself jump between projects as my motivation moves around. About to finish a pair of fingerless mits and I'm loving them way more than I thought I would ☺
Good to see you again. Hope Dan gets better quickly. I'm an RN. It's really important to keep up with the covid boosters. Hope you don't get sick too. I'm so happy your mom recovered! Our world feels like it's out of control right now and knitting keeps me from unraveling!
It definitely is important. We're as vaccinated and boosted as two people can be! So far he's continued to test negative. If he tests negative tomorrow (3 days after being informed of exposure, anywhere from 4-6 days after being exposed), then I'll start to breathe a bit easier.
Year-round wool knitter here! I do tend to ‘spring clean’ with my knitting and work on scrap yarn blankets when the weather is warm.. There is something sacred about breaking into a fresh skein that I like to save for cozy season ;)
I am working on a sweater in the evenings, I’m about 95% done which is the most challenging part for me because I often just…wander away…and leave them unfinished. It’s also Tour de Fleece so a bit more spinning on the menu for a bit.
I'm very much a squirrel knitter, so if a project is holding my attention I don't care too much about the weather. That said, it is too damn hot to have my worsted weight cardigan in my lap while I knit the pocket lining and topper that would finish it off. Well, other than sewing on the buttons, and the short cuff seams (I refuse to knit garter st in the round! Flat or not at all lol), and weave in the ends that could show 😂 No judgement on your ends, my friend; I almost never manage to weave mine in. I figure as long as they're not visible while the piece is being worn, I'm good. I also decided that it would be a glorious idea to knit random stripes (I used a D10 and a D8 to roll for them) in 9 colors. Soooo many frigging ends 😂😂 But I love my mismatched stripes and bright colors so I'll deal with them. Since it's hot and my back has decided today is an enforced rest day (aka if I breathe the wrong way it will spasm bad enough to make me cry), I'm lounging on my bed, watching TH-cam videos on my phone and working on a double-knit Supernatural-inspired scarf for Sis' 40th birthday next year. I'm in the midst of the Mark of Cain right now. Fitting since we just finished season 11 of our 9th(? probably more) rewatch of the entire series. Sis doesn't know about the scarf, which is why I'm giving myself over a year to have it done. Stealth knitting and TH-cam; par-tay animal I am 😹
My dearest dear A morning watch in south Africa thanks for inspiration early morning Busy with my King under the mountain shawl while I watch the podcast maroon and gold ....... A little Harry potter Outlanders knits inspired me a lot also I knit al year around and a love 💞💞 knitting
Hi Nicole! Another fun episode. I knew where you were going with the Bagel Bites reference. I am working on my annual Boneyard Shawl by Stephen West. I am using West Yorkshire Spinners The Croft Tweed. All my shawls are 6-7 skeins, so this is going to be a biggie. I don't know if I am going to Rhinebeck this year. If I do, I definitely wear this shawl.
I just discovered your channel (thanks to the TH-cam algorithm), and I am a fan! I love your episode! I have a fourth hand surgery in a few weeks, and my plan is to start the LOTR series since I won't be able to knit. I can't get enough of the movies; I need to read the books!
Well hi new friend! So glad you found me! If you're an audiobook fan, I highly suggest trying the Andy Serkis versions. I love the originals, but listening to Andy's was like listening to the books for the first time.
Can you send some of that Baltimore heat over here to Ireland? 5 degrees Celsius would do. (This would take us just about to 25 Celsius.) Btw, that light t-shirt really suits you.

You made me laugh out loud. Thanks

Yay! Aren't we grateful for modern science!
your colorwork is stunning, hopefully some day my tension will be as good as that. Great video!
Thank you! You can do it, I believe in you!

That's a great idea! That gives me the urge to pick up my anthology throw....😍

Ooooooo you know how I feel about big shawls! 😍
I'm working on Batty Tee by Joselotta Knitwear, and I'm making it in wool. I'm of the "I make what I want when I want" school.
I love that!

@@commonthreadfiber Thank you, I love audiobooks and Andy Serkis. He has the best voice!
I knit what i want all year round! But i dont always bring the wool sweaters around in the car in the summers...
That makes total sense! I'm very similar - I knit what I want, but in appropriate environments.

Thank you! I wish we could - it's genuinely 100 degrees (38 Celsius) here today. 🥵
