Cas Gil is used for quicker battles and Lanling is better in most cases for the longer battles. This is the general rule that I follow.
DW needs to implement an update where the unused stars in a 50+ star situation can be carried over to the next turn and so on and so forth. Hehehe break the game already DW
Personally, my NP2 Lanling is *way* more useful than my NP0 CasGil.

Another good point about Lanling is unlike most supports he isn't a caster so you can bring him to Rider and Alter Ego boss fights and not worry about him being blown up.
True. Most supports are Casters. Only other top tier support I can think of that isn’t a caster is Nero Bride and maybe Osakabehime. There aren’t many supports build servants that aren’t Casters.
@@sibsart2039 right, so sometimes those Rider/Alter Ego fights can be a pain if you don't have a Lanling or a Hime.
@@rayvsthaworld Just to add, Rienes is good, and so are some of the Rulers. Most other servants are hybrid support, damage, or lower tier.

CasGil holds a special place for me since he turned out to be one of my first gold servants, and while it took me some time before using him properly, once I understood how he worked, he turned out to be a fixture in most of my teams, not just Arts ones (Jeanne Alter in particular really appreciated his work - look, stars as far as the eye can see!).
Nowaday he sees a lot less action (got some SSR support, he reached bond 10 with no bond grail available for him at the moment, and yes, Lanling showed up to provide an alternative), but so far, I feel like Lanling is less impactful in most of my team comps than CasGil was (if only because having an offensive NP that floods the field with stars is really, really good sometimes).
Of course, I'm actually pretty curious about what you can do with both of them at the same time...
Caster Gil's value is greatly depreciated these days. He's pretty heavy on crits and has little support for NP spam, which just isn't heavily valued in Arts currently. He's also a very fire and forget servant with little value once he's burnt his skills. Lanling at least has 20% charge, is fairly durable and has a good sustained combat NP.
for casgil, i always imagined that if they buff any of his skill, they would buff the Sovereign of magical staffs, and add in 20-30% party wide np gauge up. That would really make him a good arts looper, plus the crits he can pull off.

In my opinion, Lan Ling is more of a new player friendly as he has helped me throughout singularities. I have been using him a lot since Orleans(He was the MVP of Dino Cu battles in America) while Gilgamesh is more dmg oriented that can be used by both newbies as well as veterans, but Lan Ling's skills, as well as his NP effects, are still pretty good in many team comps and his CDs are low as well. For reference, after using 2 Lan Ling NPs in 2 turns, my party was able to survive Medb's NP with half their HPs.
I don't have Cas Gil so I can't actually test their functionality but as for Lan Ling's credibility as a support, I can say he's a pretty good Arts support. Also, if you are daring enough then Crit DPS Lan Ling comp is pretty good as I've tested it myself tho it was pretty hard to find correct support. Remember I'm also a new-ish player so my Lan Ling's skills are still on lvl5 and most of my supports have no fully leveled skills. Maybe some veteran player can provide a more detailed explanation, but all I want to say is you can never go wrong with Lan Ling's support even with non-arts servants.
Lanling also has waaay shorter cooldowns, there’s also that to consider. 7 turn(4turn down time) is just way too long for future boss battles in my opinion.
Yahhh would be better to use CasGil as one time support and add taunt CE on him or use him in short burst battles. Having him stay in your frontlines for too long doesnt really benefit you that much cuz he sucks at charging his NP.

If you have archuria then you’ll probably be using casgil way more since she has the stalling covered and with the debuff success up(correct me if I’m wrong) then that np drain should always go off and since he provides more damage and stars it’ll just make her looping even easier.
i have both 10/10/10 in na and i think they work very well even together lanling helps to keep the team working while gil is waiting for his skills, i think gil is better but lanling is just so cute

I have both, and even though lan ling is admittedly very, very good, i still find myself using caster gil more often because of the larger value in his skills. In terms of star generation, lan ling's 50% cannot compete with casgil's 100% at all. I think the only readily-apparent reason to use lan ling over casgil is his 20% np charge. However, the rng on his third skill is kind of annoying to deal with because i'm forced to decide whether to use the charge on himself to augment the rng, or to fill up my dps' np bar :/

I have my CasGil with max skills for years now, its always been great with my arts servants specially Saber Lancelot, Sadly I have yet to put him at NP2... no look in gacha.
I recently got my Lanling have yet to evolve him... was disapointed to find out the 20% np battery is only for 1 ally instead of a party, Asclepius looking more juicy now not gonna lie.

Nah what they SHOULD do is give casgil a 10% np gen on his 1st and 2nd skill and a 30% on his third with a damage cut...but that’s not a convo people wanna have
I think it is a better assumption to go that there is only one buff that you'll get anytime soon. In that case, 1st skill should get a 1 turn cooldown reduction alongside the 3 turns of boosted NP gen would automatically be spectacular. Especially since it'll let him help Arts servants loop way better.

@@metaxu3305 I have never seen a skill get *just* a cooldown reduction, so I'm more or less trying to come up with a buff that DW would actually do. And since CasGil already has ATK Up, DEF Up, DEF Down, Arts Up, Stargen Up, and Crit Up effects in his kit that just leaves NP Gain Up.

Started playing this year and CasGil came home during the babylonia BD release campaing, just leveled him up and im looking forward to use him a lot since he's my only supp besides mash right now (her ortinax skin version SUCKS btw)

The worst thing is that Casgil is the first non-limited four star I got at NP5...
I lile lanling better for his split attack buff. For longer fights its better to be able to keep a longer increase in attack than to have a bigger damage boost for a shorter time. And with his np gain and party crit on a skill it shouldn't be too much to be able to get is np off on the 3 turns he has his charisma up and have his attack gain from np up until his charisma is back and repeat.
You can also use buff success rate CE so that u can easily use battery for other servants.
I use both of them to support saberlot and then watch him crit like hell

As someone who has been borrowing a friend's Case Gil for the past few days, I think he is a strong contender for my next free SR ticket: that Arts buff has come in CLUTCH. Lan Ling is also a servant I wouldn't mind having.

Ah! Which one is better to chose for the free 4 star servant? Lan Ling Wang or Caster Gilgamesh? In my opinion, they are both good!
I have used casgil alongside Emiya and squirtoria and they gen a lot of stars. I have used all of their np's in a row and got like 120+ stars (I've got the screenshots, I've counted them)
If i'm correct you can only have 99 stars in a row
And even so what the point of having so much stars if you can use only up to 50 stars ? An unnecessary overkill
@@expendablea It's just for fun. And yes, the counter only says 99 stars, but all stars are actually generated and visible on the battlefield before collected into the counter. I have a screenshot with both the stars on the field (120+ stars) and the counter afterwards (99 stars)
Edit: I knew it was overkill from the start. Also this shows the potential star gen up skills can have and by extension how good casgil (and lanling) can be in terms of arts crit support
I kinda wish they made the extra stars transfer for other turns... it would be awsome generating 100+stars for next rounds
Got a grailed Caster Gil and Lanling chilling in my inventory but my issue is they both need stingers which I don't have XD

I think lanling is a smidge better since passive star gen is so good and survivability is so mandatory nowadays, but honestly they're like right next to each other on the tier list. I'd give both a. 8.5 or 9 out of 10.
CasGil has the Mr.P costume he's infinitely better. Sorry.

I genuinely hate myself for burning my only copy of caster Gilgamesh. Was it worth burning him in order for me to get Chaldea Lunchtime? Probably not.
My only dedicated arts supports are Amadeus, Lan Ling, and Paracelsus.

there's just no place for him in a team imo. you'll make a team with Tamamo + Nero Bride + Paracelsus on NA, or just Double Castoria + Tamamo on JP
Crits on arts team is just not a reliable way of doing dmg, because you don't get many stars to work with, and if you build something to do these crits, you end up sacrificing something else that's more important, like np dmg or np gen.
I don't have Lan Ling, but i would imagine he's gonna suffer from the same problems.
For someone like Lancelot or Salieri, who are Arts Crit DPS, the arguement could be made that Gil and Lanling are better in that role than Tamamo or Bride, since the former two offer them Attack Up, Arts Up, even more Crit Up, some minor star gen (or just slap a 2030 on), Defense Up, and all the additional stuff Lanling has on his NP. Tamamo has Arts, healing, and cooldowns, which good for longer fights, when you want to shitmix something ASAP, then you need to stack as much different buffs as you can.
Then, with all due respect, you are doing crit arts teams wrong. They are absolutely scary when done right.
There ain't many servants that benefit a lot from arts crit (to do big dmgs), you can't get to effective crit dmg numbers on arts servants if the dps servant doesnt have a crit dmg buff themselves because the buffs that lan ling/CasGil are not enough.
It's not like buster where merlin makes every crit work, you also need something to bring stars to the table, so you NEED to run a 2030. I Honestly can't think of many effective ways to fully use art crits other then hokusai saber and saberlot.
@@MrPimentel12 again, I respectfully disagree. Memelin gives a 1 turn 50% crit buff(which is big and all that) while with Hans you have a 3t full party 40% crit buff. Shiki assassin also has a 3t 40% crit buff. Li Shuwen also respectfully disagrees. Both of them. Salieri also is a very good arts crit servant.
I can keep going, but the point is made: crit arts team are real and strong, very strong, and CasGil has his place as he, singlehandedly, makes them viable.
Merlin gives a 1 turn 100% buff, which is literally double of what you just said, you wont only run with merlin on buster team either, you are looking at another 50% from waver at bare minimum, and makes the extra damage that comes from the crit actually meaningfull.
40% crit dmg buff is meh. unless you 100% can guarantee crits on every cards, which don't happen on every servant; you mention salieri, good luck getting him to absorb the stars...
Also, if you are dedicating Hans on your team, you will sacrifice something to bring him out, you lose other buffs for those crits.
Arts crit is something that can happen but, more often then not you will not gen enough stars to make it a consistent strategy unless you run with very few specific servants.
It's simply much more effective to run triple stacked buff (AtkUp, NPdmgUp and ArtsUp) on NPs, which is something that Arts team can easily spamm.
Hans is better than both of them so there is not debate
