In Vietnam there are a lot of scams about teaching English language. Not a lot of schools want to pay Filipinos. A Russian with a strong accent can earn 30 percent more because of the appearance.
Greetings from an American prof in Taipei, Taiwan who has also taught in Taiwanese cram schools (what you call language centers) and also high schools. There are similarities to your situation over here. One main difference: in universities and high schools, you can generally participate in Labor Insurance (the Taiwanese equivalent of Social Security in the USA, i.e., an old age pension). At cram schools, the owners tend to ignore the law and not make the Labor Insurance payments like they’re supposed to! Cram schools vary in their pay-sometimes they pay more than universities and high schools, and sometimes they are all about “how low can you go?"
I teach both. Monday to Friday mornings in Public schools and during weekday evenings at some language centers. My Day-off are Saturday and Sunday (whole weekend).
Can anyone please give a lead on where to find public school work? Im living in a city near HCMC working at a center and am looking for extra work if not a change. Edit; ok just finished the video, it sounds like i shoukd email the address given. Thanks so much. I love it when you said that for public school "there isnt much prep" lol! Thats my favorite teaching methodology.
Hey i enjoyed your video. I am NES from New Zealand. I have my Bachelors degree and a TEFL certificate. Is there any decent paying schools you would recommend? Most are offering me under 500k VND/hour
A quick question-if a non-native speaker EFL teacher is being paid $22 USD/hour-equivalent, what’s the language center charging a student in tuition for that same hour?
The tuition fee charged to a student by the language center for an hour of instruction can vary depending on various factors such as the location, reputation of the center, level of instruction, and additional services provided. It is difficult to determine the exact amount without specific information.
@@danielvillarreal6610. The students pay for a course in a language centre. Students usually have 2 or 3 classes per week . Classes are 1.5 or 2 hours. Prices from 1,000,000 to 4,000,000 VNdong per month.

I'm qualified ESL teacher. Would you please help me to get a job in Vietnam plzzzzzz. I don't have any support at all. But I'm very keen regarding this job. Please reply
I hope I can also teach in Vietnam soon. I'm a 4 yr-English program graduate and I hope I can contact someone or maybe a legitimate agency from vietnam to help me out. I'm willing to work and relocate as long as there's an assistance provided and on legal processing as I am still in my home country
I think this agency told me before that because I am from South America, I can only get paid 900 USD. My vietnamese friend told me because I am white and not Asian I can receive 1500 USD.
@jessica if you are a native english speaking country with an educational degree you are good to go, I have seen job offers ranging up to 25-30usd back in 2021. Best thing to do is come here and look for a job DO NOT agree to a position before coming here. You will have better leverage this way.
Just a tip, add the per hour/ per month after stating the wage. Makes it easier for us newbies to understand.
Thanks for this video!
