      What causes a 2016 freightliner Cascadia to lose air pressure? It takes a while for the air pressure to build back up. The air bag, airlines, the dryer and air compressor have already been changed out.

    Thanks for posting!! Had the same problem only was a different style compressor on 14l Detroit. Changed the dryer thinking that was the problem.. still wouldn’t build air… cleaned this the same you did now it builds air!! Thank you

    Great job, when you're a small fleet owner (in this case a fleet of two) you learn as much as you can about your truck or trucks. I'm a fleet of one myself and do probably about 90-95% of the repairs and preventative maintenance myself like you Ezra. Its a must in this line of work, if want to be successful and have some money in your pocket at the end of the day. If you are going to be in this line of work and own, operate your own equipment, it's pretty much a given you need to learn to turn a wrench on your stuff.

    You're right the egr engines are much worse for carbon build up on the unloader. The Cummins engines in our Prevost busses are especially bad to clean because of the location of the compressor. Great video

    Ezra, just have to say to you one thing, when you are working with chemicals PLEASE WEAR GLOVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. My Father was a Mechanic for 35 years and died of bone cancer due to the beard hands parts cleaning. the gas and thinner gave him cancer. PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @wademills1616
      @wademills1616 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sorry for your loss but my grandfather died of bone cancer too. He wasn’t a mechanic. If you live long enough we all will end up with some form of cancer. Our preservatives and food colorings we allow in our food is more responsible for cancer. In almost every country the dye we use and most of the preservatives are illegal. And should be.

    • @joeclark7298
      @joeclark7298 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's the Benzene in the gas and the thinner that causes bone cancer. But Benzene is in A LOT of stuff. It's in the grill marks on grilled meat. It's everywhere. You know what they say: something has to kill ya

    EZ, great work. I always figured, if it was already broken, I could not make it worse. I never drove big rigs, but I have traveled in a rig. Once I saw the driver slipping gears, I would do the same on gas trucks and diesel cars. I had a clutch blow up, on a diesel Jetta. I drove it for a couple weeks. The starter would run it in 1st, once she fired, I was away. My sweetheart tried to do it, but she told me to go see my friend and "Get IT fixed" Cheers to you!

    Imagine how many OTR drivers get stranded besides the road each day because of such small problems, and how much time they waste and how much money they spend to alivate these small issues. In Iran, there is a general thought that says before you become a truck driver, your should be a mechanic.

    I wanted to thank you very much for creating this video! Most of all, glad I found it & you on TH-cam. I am now subscribed!
    Today I was removing wet heavy snow from the runways and taxiways of our local airport that my family operates with a 1985 ford L 8000. I was noticing air pressure wasn’t holding when doing short back and forth work. Figured I needed to get the RPM’s up a bit so I took the first swipe on our longest runway.
    Something wasn’t correct and air pressure was not building, sure enough brake lite came on and I was out of business. I got a ride back to the building and did a quick search on TH-cam to learn about air system on these trucks.
    Sure enough I saw this video and figured I needed to give the fix a try. It worked! You are my hero!
    Thanks a bunch!! I fixed it in the middle of a snow storm out in the middle of a runway!!
    Also, the gasket broke in several pieces, I figured I would make one later, and focus on getting this truck off the runway..not only was I able to move the truck. The air system was working great! Didn’t even need a good gasket, fished the day clearing all the runways and taxiways!!
    Thanks again!
    Tony
