So Ganondorf, in all of his forms, is the reincarnation of Demise and the bearer of his soul. Link is the Soul of the Hero and Zelda the Soul of the Goddess. Three souls, trapped in an endless cycle of reincarnation; Demise reincarnates as Ganon to bring the end of the world, and each time fate sends the Soul of the Hero in a new form to challenge him, with no memories of his past life, and the Soul of the Goddess is sent with him to aid him. Two heroes standing against one dark entity across the sea of time, all of them with no recollection of their past selves. ...Yanno, it's probably better they don't remember past lives, 'cuz I think these three would hate being brought back again and again just to keep fighting. Still, it's quite an original setting.
I don't think he intentionally laid such a curse, he is a Demon King or Lord basically I think it was just a matter of it isn't so easy for a demon to be gone from the world even if they want it and because of what transpired there, his hatred being eternal will find it's way into someone's heart who will target the one with the Spirit of the Goddesses in such hate and as such will prompt the one with the Hero's blood to feel the same desire to rid the world of said evil with courage that the first hero had.
My favorite thing about Demise is how patient he is. Think about it. He says he can spare a few more moments to wait for you to meet him in battle, and this is your chance to go back and finish any side quests. In the future. Demise waited for thousands of years because Skyloft is STILL THERE!
Returning back to the present and seeing how everything is back to normal makes it obvious that the events of Skyward Sword already happened in the distant past. Tge old woman in the Sealed Grounds tells Link that his arrival to the Surface was destined a very long time ago, so his fight and defeat of Demise was also part of it.
I actually like how Demise, in his adrenaline-laced drive to survive, was actually able to dodge the first two death strikes before finally succumbing to the third. It made for a nice fake-out moment.
seidl01 Underrated game. I find the hatred towards it mostly biased from people who just cannot grow up and accept that things move forward and advance in innovation. The people that don't care for this game should just stop ranting about it and go back to playing the old games.
***** Even good games have tutorials. They existed since the N64 days. People are just to blind and oblivious to it because they are wearing nostalgia glasses and living the delusion that everything was perfect back in their day but there are many good things in Skyward Sword and to me they outweigh anything negative about the game. The combat is fun and challenging, I liked the environments and atmosphere especially areas like the Sandship, Ancient Cistern, and Lanayru Mining Facility, and the characters are memorable and develop over the course of the game. Groose for an instance starts off as kind of a jerk but over time he starts to become a good friend of Link's and starts helping him out and he proves to be useful. Also I liked Ghirahim because he was basically not only an antithesis of Fi but also an antithesis of Link himself. He is well accomplished as a swordsman and is a very formidable adversary. I am just quite surprised why this guy wanted to release Demise to rule the world rather then rule the world himself because he is a commander of entire armies and actually made active attempts on the surface world to stop Link and Zelda's destinies. Overall Skyward Sword is a great game. Yes it is linear but it's one of those games that makes up for it's linearity by providing a decent challenge to the player. Skyview Temple is a hard dungeon actually and it's so satisfying beating the bosses and mini-bosses of this game because of the challenge they provide. One of my favorite bosses and this is probably everyone's favorite is the main boss of the Ancient Cistern. This half machine, half being of darkness is just one of those bosses that you just feel a sense of satisfaction when facing because you are actually dismembering and taking this thing apart bit by bit and using his own weaponry against him. Link does not get enough respect because he can be a real badass at times. What Ghirahim has an army? Screw having an infantry to fight back against the horde. Just send in Link.
+warioland523 For me the hatred is all the backtracking. If they added more variety in levels it might have been one of my favourites in the franchise.
I remember fighting this boss as a kid and struggling so hard that when I finally beat him I cried. I busted all my shields to hell and had no options left when I finally tried raising my sword, and when that lightning hit I felt like a chosen hero. Say what you want about skyward sword, but that atmosphere was real, and it's what I chase in from soft games to this day.
skyward sword is super fun, Idk why it got so much hate. Maybe because it was on the wii? Idk, but younger me loved being able to actually swing the sword around
yeah same I hope next console zelda has like a hd version of TP's artstyle, imagine how awesome that'd be. like imagine the level of amazing graphics of games like battlefront but in a zelda game, holy shit.
「L O O S E G R O O S E」 I know, what I'm saying is imagine how amazing it would look to hwve TP's artstyle with the graphics of a game like Battlefront, that'd be fucking amazing.
Well, you have to remember, this is the VERY FIRST incarnation of the Hero and Goddess in the series. Hylia abandoned her immortal form to reside within Zelda using her power.
I love the callback to Twilight Princess with that finisher, and also showing how much of a badass Demise was in being able to dodge that finisher TWICE before finally being taken down.
It's so easy to beat him buy 3 guardian potions and upgrade them you will be invincible for 8 9 min job done can't believe no one managed to find this well not a cheat code
People are saying this boss was easy but I was getting my shit wrecked the first time I fought him. I ended up using all my potions and I didn't even know about the lightning trick. I had to use my shield the entire time. Thank god for the Hylian Shield, man.
Which is odd, because literally of the enemies in this game beforehand, bosses included, look like drawings in a kindergartner's notebook. Happy that at least Demise and Ghirahim's true form were appealing to the eyes and intimidating in appearance
Don't forget about Majora who is so evil she doesn't even need a reason to kill and destroy as well as her design being pretty evil looking right down to the mask
Zachary Kenniston demise and majora are the two most threatening villains in this series so far (in my opinion), they are both a bit similar to Satan, demise is a all powerful Demon, who seeks to take control of what the goddesses made, like how Satan is the king of sin and wishes to take control of what God made. Majora is powerful and manipulative, slowly taking control of your mind, lying to you to get you to do what she wants, Satan will lie to you to get you to do what he wants you to do, and he will try to manifest himself into what you enjoy most and use it against you(like how majora used skull kid's love of pranks against him, and tricked him into thinking that no one wanted to be friends with him, and that he should get revenge because of that).
I love that final stab. The jump and spin of Link, the "Hyaah!" we all know and love, shock of the lightning hitting Link's blade, and the sound of his sword piercing through Demise
I know it's a common belief that Demise get's reincarnated as Ganondorf, but for comedy's sake, wouldn't be funny if he came back as a totally different character like King Dedede? XD
Chris Westergaard well it kinda makes more sense than you think because demise is a devil and ganondorf is a king so between the time for demise the reincarnated demise's second in command lord garihim is the new devil so he can't be reincarnated there so what better thing to do is to make a tribe in Zelda that is all female and have a male born every oue hundred years
The cutscene before this fight is one of my favorite in the series. I absolutely love the setting, it's just you and him in and endless sea stretching on towards the horizon.
Laurence Hecquet Except Ganondorf doesn't scream like Demise which takes away from it a bit. Imo Demise screaming like that is one of the things that makes the boss fight epic because it reinforces the fact you've given him what he had coming.
Link could say, "What the hell?! Ya really gonna murder ev'rybody on Skyloft?! No way in Hell! I ain't gonna lose Zelda--or anybody else--'cuz I got the Master Sword that's gonna stab yer heart!"
DEMISE vs GHIRAHIM: Number of battles with Link: • Demise = 1 • Ghirahim = 3 Number of Fatal Blows they can withstand: • Demise = 1 • Ghirahim = More than 3 Number of attacks: • Demise = 3 • Ghirahim = At least 20 Defences: • Demise = None • Ghirahim = Skin that's "tougher than any armour" Status following the final battle: • Demise = Deceased • Ghirahim = Alive with barely a scratch So, Ghirahim should think "F**k you Master, I'm a bigger badass than you could ever hope to be... I'm taking the world for my OWN!"
Actually, Demise was battled four times.Thrice as The Imprisoned, but I can see your point. LOL nice observation. One more thing to add. Ghirahim was the one responsible for reviving his wielder and master...
+Russell Salacup Let me ALSO add that Link technically fights Demise only once before his death, considering that the final battle takes place in the past and thus Link hadn't previously fought The Imprisoned at this point
I just love Demise's last words they give me Chills so cool!, And i also love how they put the Word "incarnation" highlighted just to remind you that it is never over, Ganon will always come back
If the legend of Zelda ever had to come to an end, I wish it will be with a link that could see part of his past life's and a Zelda with all her goddesses powers against a Ganon that in the final stage of the fight just transforms in demise for a last time before the goddess banish the curse for ever. It probably won't happen, but if it has to be, I hope it is like that
Demise's curse is one of the most interesting parts to the Zelda timeline, it makes so much sense and ties things up surprisingly well. I wonder if beings like Malladus and Vaati are caused by Demise's curse as well?
Dracomut I have to wonder how many souls come back, even if not every time. Does Impa's come back? I mean, she's in a lot of games. Is Zelda's father the same soul all the time (so Rhoam is the same soul as the headmaster)? What about Purah and the ancient tech lab people? But most of all... Does Groose's soul come back.
There are theories that suggest that Vaati is an incarnation of Ghirahim, as we know for sure that Ganon is the incarnation of Demise, but it was never fully established what happened to Ghirahim. It's very possible that he has caused a fair amount of the mischief as well, and Vaati looks a lot like Ghirahim, and also has some similar abilities and personality traits. It's been told in Zelda lore that not long after the establishment of Hyrule, dark monsters stormed the land born from evil, and it was the Hero of Men who defeated the monsters and sealed them in a great chest. Vaati was hell bent on freeing the monsters and obtaining magical power, monsters that were a sign of Demise's eternal hatred taking form. It was never fully established exactly where Maladus came from though. Some believe that he is the new incarnation of Demise. With Ganondorf now dead, and Hyrule destroyed, that ended the cycle of Ganon, but the curse still lingers all the same. Demise himself said that the spirit of those who descend from the hero and the royal family will forever be bound to the curse, meaning killing Ganon and destroying Hyrule will not fully end the cycle, it only creates a new eternal cycle of Demise's hatred. So long as the people of Hyrule exist, the curse cannot end, and it's very likely that Maladus is the new embodiment of the cycle in New Hyrule.
I like this idea a lot. Also Malladus and calamity ganon share some similarities. Both are demons with out physical form needing a body/vessel to reincarnate into
I believe that Demise's curse/hatred is malice itself, not Ganondorf. Hence why Ganondorf is leaking malice from his body, he was cursed to be the source of Demise's hatred
agreed, Just like Zelda is a reincarnation of the goddes Hylia, Ganandorf is a reincarnation of Demise, however unlike zelda, i dont think ganandorf knows of his past life! it would be cool if in one game, Ganandorf learns about his past life Demise, and somehow uses his dark magic to sacrifice his body to bring back the original Demise that was reborn into Ganandorf!
@@PakistanDefenseForum Forgetting in the Donwfall timeline, Ganon dies in A Link to the Past, was resurrected and merged with his Lorule counterpart Yuga in A Link Between Worlds, was resurrected as a mindless beast by Twinrova in the Oracle games, was fully resurrected centuries before the events of Zelda 1. And in the Child timeline, he died in Twilight Princess, but was reborn years before Four Sword Adventure. The only timeline Ganondorf truly stayed dead in was in the Adult timeline after his death in Wind Waker.
If he were to return as demise himself it would have to be in the last zelda game in both the series and timeline. I actually had a game idea where he was the final boss.
Demon Lord Ghirahim I totally understand what you mean. It took me two days to defeat him, especially because of the final blow thing. And the ghirahim battles made me wanna die because the wiimote was either too sensitive or not sensitive enough. Most of the first battle with him was just me trying to struggle away from his grasp on the sword. I’m not very good at avoiding him. Still a good game though.
deku-eku lol it’s my first time playing it and I’ve just turned my wii off, i can’t get my wii remote to do the skyward strike in phase 2 demise battle god I hate the motion controls but, as you said it is a good game and ghirahim is amazing villain
I didn’t have many problems with the motion controls. My biggest problem was that it was sometimes hard to move. I was experiencing drift before the Switch even existed.
The motion controls definitely made this fight a lot of fun it was just raising my sword into the air that didn't work for me. And also link kept bringing up his shield when I didn't want him to.
Kind of makes me feel bad for Ganondorf. He's born out of Demise's endless hatred time after time, destined only to cause havoc before being bested by Farore's champion. It's funny, he's kind of like an evil Neo in that way.
Aha! Caught you red handed. JUST farores champion?! (Puts on and intentionally adjusts nerd glasses) ACTUALLY! Hes Farores, Dins and Nayrus champion, ALONG with skyloft. Ok, I'm done XD
Having beaten him for the first time, I absolutely jawdropped when he cursed Link with an incantation of his hate to follow his lineage forever. I knew Ganondorf had to come from somewhere, but it was still shocking
JAMES KOE Granted it wouldn’t really need a remaster I’d love to replay it. Though the motion controls were what I loved about it. They were annoying to work with some times but it was worth it whenever you got to have actual sword fights.
The fact that you killed Demise in a little over two minutes makes me doubt my own gaming skills so much, haha! I am beyond impressed. I think I died at least six times before defeating him. You rock!
@@mlpfanboy1701 you're basically the god of evil. Some miniscule ant challenges you to a fight, then you find out the ant is your equal. It had to suck going out like that.
He may have been a little on the easy side to beat, but this boss battles was epic! Menacing antagonist, awesome visuals, perfect music. Overall a superb ending to a truly great game.
+thehonorablereese The four face boss in Twilight Princess was 1000 times better than this lame boss fight. At least Ganondorf in Twilight Princess just never seems to die or give up, even though you defeat him four times in a row. It's just something spectacular that this game can never achieve.
+Leslie Chow twilight princess bosses battles are boring and forgetful all of them.... Not one of them Is worth bragging about compared to skyward sword I'm sorry bro you wrong.
Blazedvenom It seems like you are a true fan of Skyward Sword. I know how it feels like to play a game for the first time and experience the magic. And I experienced the magic in Twilight Princess, and you achieved yours in Skyward Sword, and I'm cool with that. But the boss fights in Skyward sword and the whole game in general is just odd to me. Hope you understood me.
@Avinash Anand its going to be a chore if you are constantly looking for action. Skyward sword is the longest linear zelda game so you should take your time
4:40 The most Badass final death blow EVER! i mean come on: Link jumps up, And while in the air He raises his sword skyward and quickly Turns it over to kill Demise BADASS!!!😀
Skyward Sword in my opinion had some of the best boss fights throughout the franchise. Demise’s dialogue is some of the best I’ve ever heard from a villain, Nintendo truly made him scary.
I love that the first phase of the fight, Demise is just toying with Link until the 2nd phase, where he views him as a true threat and starts using everything he has
I remember when I got to this battle and my brother watched me he had previously fought him and never knew you could raise your sword and strike the lightning slash at him so when I saw Demise do it I copied him and did it and I screamed like it was the coolest thing ever. Man, this boss fight.
So they really succeeded making a terrifying boss. Skyward Sword is Nintendo's greatest achievement. Such a long full epic game. I loved Breath of the Wild but Skyward Sword is still #1 for me. I hope we see Demise again!
+Loga Levaard They don't bruh. I don't understand how half the people who play the game have trouble and the other half are just fine. My friend only had trouble with aiming the beetle... which is odd because i watched him use it and he wasn't really doing anything different from me. and he was using my Wii/wiimote... so it's not like the hardware or setup was any different from mine.
It's just the fact that the wii mote is not a very precise instrument in a game that demanded precision, your right, the controls are not as bad as some make them out to be but it is a fact that the sensor bar does misread the motion of the remote sometimes.
Loga Levaard isn't that a thing you can turn off? since the game mainly uses the wii motion plus for aiming, I thought there was an option to turn off wii motion bar assist... maybe I'm thinking of a different game.
+Nedoxu to my knowledge, no. and it's not just aiming, thrusts are very difficult to get right, most the time it will treat it like any other swing seemingly randomly deciding whether it should do a vertical or horizontal slash instead.
i love how zelda makes every weird lonely kid in the world feel like they're the most brave heroes, no matter how shy, weak or socially awkward you are. the best franchise ever.
Demise is the Dark Lord of the first game. Ganondorf is the Dark Lord in many of the others. It's like comparing Morgoth and Sauron in the Middle-earth history.
Joseph Alicea He's not Ganon. It's canon that he influenced Ganon in some way, possibly by creating him, possibly by mentoring him, we don't know for certain. But that's all that's canon.
Kermit the Frog I still think that demise and ganondorf are completely different people, demise said that his hatred and curse is gonna follow him, so he could even be referring to vaati yuga etc, or maybe demise is controling some of them? who knows.
This boss was clearly easy for you, but not for me. The first time in fought this boss I only had one of those shields that break, and it broke during this fight. I could barely anticipate when I could attack because I was so busy wiping the 3 gallons of sweat rushing down my face.
This place that demise made, a supposed monster that is the cruelest and evil villain in all of Zelda history... made a beautiful place. Where the sky is blue, the sun is warm and beaming down, and clear water is at your feet. It truly is beautiful, and it feel like it says something about him.
Yet he destroys said scenery as if to mock Link. He wants everything and everyone under his foot. He is a monster, whether he appreciates a pretty scenery or not.
@kurokamireaper3761 he is absolutely evil, but this makes me wonder more about him. Its not ever mentioned why he is the way that he is and why he hates the gods. I'm wondering if demise was one a beautiful God like hylia, but something happened and he transformed into the way he is, filled with hatred and malice.
@@MegaLpso It just seems to me that he hates the Gods because they stand in his way. He is malice itself so he hates anyone. I wonder why he is that way too.
You might have to look very closely: Anytime Link tries to attack Demise without a counter, Demise just shakes his head afetrwards like saying "No, not like this, my boy"
@@mahendrap1960 Not a retcon. Totk takes place a really big time in the future compared to SS. It would go like this: Original timeline>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Zonai>>>>>Calamity Ganon first defeat>>>>>>>>>>BotW>TotK.
@@alantezoni9813 seem like you did not watch zelda flashback , didn't you ? Zonai never mentioned anything anything related to SS storyline so it is retcon by nintendo, so SS is no longer canon by Nintendo
I'll always remember this fight I didn't know about the Lightning trick. Failed at least 10 times only killed him by rolling around and chipping away one hit at a time. Fight lasted 15 minutes and it was so satisfying when I finally killed the SoB.
Personally I found this the most exciting, and hardest zelda boss I have every fought. This game is so much fun and with Demise being a truly epic battle made it so much better
Are you serious? This boss was super easy. Imo, the most exciting boss to beat was the ganondorf 3 part battle in twilight princess. They should have made this boss longer or with more parts.
@@Linkfan007 Demise is only hard when you don't know how to parry, especially if you don't have the hylian shield. But C'mon, TP Ganondorf is way more easy and less exciting thant Demise...
I can't tell if it's just light shaking for some other reason, but does Demise lightly shake his head when Link kinda messes up? Not when Demise hits Link, but when Link hits Demise's sword a few times, around 2:35 and again at 3:01 and 3:06 . If that's the case, that's an awesome little detail there.
I really think it's a head-shake movement. As you can see, Link only walks backwards and does not moves the sword so it is true, when you miss your attempt on hitting Demise, he's like.... "You filthy normie swordsman, REMOVE"
Truly a legendary battle compared to other battles in the series. This one feels more genuine with the level of skill behind both fighters. Heck Demise himself fights in a rather organized and skilled way rather than going crazy and just swinging savagely like a maniac.
@@ioneocla6577 when link recieves the mark on his hand he does not actualy have a part of the triforce , when they wish demise to perish the triforce is not taken by link to the past to defeat him again. The triforce only fractures when an evil person tries to use it otherwise it is a completed object that must be touched to use. When link and demise fought it was links personal atributes alone that defeated him no aid from the triforce.
@@ioneocla6577 sorry not an evil person , an unballanced person. One must know all three parts to wield it power courage wisdom. Link learned these on his adventure zelda comments about it wich makes him the only one able to truly use it.
Best Zelda game imo. Controls aren't even that hard to handle. Music was amazing. Loved the story. Don't get me wrong the other Zelda games were good too but I think this one just takes the cake.
I got killed so many times after perfectly doing the first phase before I finally gave in and checked a walkthrough and realized Link use the lightning as well. That made the rest easy. I felt so stupid for not realizing it on my own.
I love how Demise's title drop isn't "Demon King Demise" but just "DEMISE" It's just like the first time we saw Ganon in OoT... Just "GANON." No need for ANYTHING else!
anybody stop to think that the place that the hero of the sky and demise fought, may be the same place where zelda and the hero of time met after defeating ganon?
It took a magical sword, tempered with three magical flames guarded in various temples, blessed by a goddess, with a BOLT OF LIGHTNING channeled into it just to kill that fucking monster. Jesus F. Christ!
its insane how link was just a schoolkid and somehow ended up standing toe to toe with the single source of all darkness and evil in the universe, and defeating him in sword combat at the absolute height of his power. the most impressive link ever by far, this is literally chosen one level legendary.
People keep saying Ganondorf could be stronger than Demise. That completely bull shit! It takes all Triforce parts for Link to beat him. Link only needs one for Ganon!
Here's my logic; Demise looks like Ganon on steroids. And did Demise sort of give Ganon his power? In the timeline, Skyward Sword is two games before Ocarina of Time. Demise promises Link the cycle would "repeat without end," and I think Ganon is the product of that promise. But I haven't played The Minish Cap, which is between Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time, so maybe I missed something. Besides, if a scrawny Link can fight all those varying forms of Ganon with a sword his size, then a muscle man with a sword three times as large can too.
Martin Johnson Right. Demise is the God who fought Hylia. The Gods > All humans (let's assume Ganon is a human or somewhat of that). That means, if Link beats him, (Demise wasn't at his full form I believe), he is the strongest Link hands down.
One of the best final boss fights. Just truly amazing with the finishing blow being a high jump FATAL blow with the lighting coating over the Master sword delivering the final blow is soo fucking good.
When I think of Wii graphics, my mind immediately turns to Wii Sports, and I remember to pray as thanks for the Switch. But then a certain Skyward Sword comes to mind and, well…
1:52 This hits hard when you realize he actually meant what he said. Calamity Ganon, which is perhaps the closest thing we've come to seeing Demise's hatred in its purest form, nearly laying waste to the entire Kingdom and slaying the four Champions in the process. And even then, Hyrule was still under the threat of being conquered as the Calamity slowly began to build up more power to break through Zelda's seal, just so it could continue its rampage. Never got to take on a physical form however due to Link's return and intervention.
Whenever you fight Ganon, you're fighting Demise as well. Even 10000 years later, you still have Demise present. As long as Ganon reincarnates, so will Demise. A never-ending cycle.
Even though it won't happen, it would be friggin' amazing to have Demise in Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. He won't be in as a playable character, due to Ganondorf. Demise would never replace Ganondorf as Ganondorf really represents the whole Zelda story and has been around since the beginning, while Demise is new. But... Demise is just so... badass! I mean, I just love everything about him! His design is awesome. Big, really strong, glowing eyes, black creepy sword, cape.... he truly looks like the King of Demons. And the fact that he was (possibly?) the beginning of Ganondorf (or, at least the evil that Ganondorf pocesses), is just plain awesome. IF we got to get another clone character in the new Smash games, Demise would be on top of my wishlist! :D
Demise is the one that started it all... Link in this game is the first one chronologically, Ganon is an incarnation of demise, so I think demise is the best villain in this franchise even though he was only in 1 game, he is the reason Ganon is even around
JoshArtisticGenius It would be so cool to have Demise and Toon Ganondorf in the game : the beginning and the end of this evil, two different gameplays, and they would represent both Skyward Sword and the recent Wind Waker HD.
all these "this boss was so easy" comments. have you actually played the game? this guy took me 30+ tries to defeat, and i had no trouble with the other bosses. am i just a noob?
+Neb Htims tbh I killed him in 3 tries, but I'm a quick learner, and knew plenty of tactics and all to defeat him and I've pretty much grown up with Zelda XD But everybody has a different approach to the boss battles, for example against girahim's last form, I would perform the final strikes from the top platform and reflect his skyward strikes. ;)
Just finally got through the game a few days ago, played very sporadically when I had time. Beat Demise on the second try, the first time my Wiimote wasn't working quite right so I couldn't get the lightning strikes to work! Demise is all about timing and knowing when to get out of the way.
Anyone else notice that unlike most other enemies in this game, how when Link's fatal blow misses this guy actually let's Link pull his sword out of the ground and move away from him before attacking again? Also this Demise guy is apparently also able to use a skyward strike attack just like Link can. Did any of you notice those two things or was that just me?
+62swordsmen For you maybe he was a badass...for me he was a total derp (I hate motion controls which is why Skyward Sword was the second worst in the Zelda franchise for me because it emphasized the use of motion controls way more than Twilight Princess did) and it always confuses me how someone as badass as Demise, Ghirahim and hell with it Ganondorf can lose to this derp all the time...
+Bass EXE you kind of confused me how motion controls made you think that this was the second worst Zelda game? Also if you really think about it Link is a tactical genius, he can easily find enemies weakness, and not only that he did train as a knight, and he has no fear AT ALL at anything (where compared to the other knights, Groose has more guts than they do), those three things can be possible to defeat a demon like Demise and Ghirahim
62swordsmen Story-wise the game was decent, but gameplay wise this game was the second worst (worst being the CDI games if you even count that). This doesn't mean the game was bad, because it was a good game, but it lacked potential on the gameplay side. Severe unresopnsive controls made this game joyless for me (especially the imprisoned boss fights, don't even get me started on why that was awful). Albeit, other people don't seem to have a problem with this game and I generally did really suck at the game. It took me a long time to get used to the flight controls. However, even in battles, this game relied on making you swing precisely to get precise hits where sometimes I would swing the wii mote horizontally, yet Link would swing diagonally and it would count as a vertical slash thus not being effective against the enemy. I've tried re-calibration and yet these problems still persisted with the game. So yea, severe unresponsive controls sunk this ship for me. That's not to say I didn't enjoy the story because the story was actually quite good, but gameplay is what matters most in a Zelda game. With the shield constantly having to be repaired, a run gauge that makes Link run out of breath this game didn't just fail on control, it had features that weren't needed. Maybe they were trying for a "realistic" direction, but I mean you have a world with dragons, monsters and several other mythical creatures, realism went out the window in the beginning of the game. In regards to Link being a "tactical genius", keep in mind he is always relying on the side kick to tell him hints on how to fight the enemy, so is he really knowledgeable about who he is fighting or is he simply taking orders from the sidekick? (Fi, Navi, Midna, Tatl, etc.) If he is simply taking orders, that means he wouldn't be a "tactical genius" despite having being trained as a knight in this game. In other games he had no formal training in swordsmanship whatsoever and went solely of improvisation (Ocarina of Time, Link to the past just to name 2 as an example). His lack of experience in the battlefield should demonstrate that he shouldn't be losing to people like Ganon. At least these are my opinions.
+Bass EXE so it was good but bad game...I wouldn't say that's the second worst Zelda for you....but wait if skyward sword is your second what's the worst Zelda game (because clearly i like all of them...with the exception of a game about Tingle and Links crossbow training)
When I saw Demise raise his sword and lightning struck, I had this “…wait a minute…what if…” and then I slowly raised my sword and sure enough, my sword got struck with lightning as well. Best moment EVER!
I love how during the final phase of this battle, both Demise and Link realize that electricity is indeed the most broken thing in this game.
Lightning is the best!

Now I wanna see Link hold Thor's hammer Mjolnir
Lightning is a force of awesome
But only Link realizes that the bug net is the true path to victory.
Still, it's quite an original setting.
unsub me, i've been hacked
Look up the Hyrule Historia; it details the actual timelines of the series. It's not an alternate-universe setting.
+The Writer Original setting? It's the most cliche' thing ever conceived since the dawn of "knight saves princess".
Yeah...I think they'd be QUITE pissed if they realized that what they've done has happened again and again...lol...
"Transcending history, and the world...a tale of souls and swords, eternally retold."
They would probably find peace if they did remember, what's the point of fightning if you know that right after that, it'll all be brought to zero?
Talk about a sore lose. Demise didn't accept his defeat.Instead he cursed hyrule and rise again as ganandorf.
Amelia Kyle Hmm good point.
Maybe if link asked the demon lord nicely not to destroy the world, maybe he would go back to being sealed :P
No this is the ruler of all evil.He wouldn't listen and will just slay link.Even you and me most likely won't give up being king.

My favorite thing about Demise is how patient he is. Think about it.
He says he can spare a few more moments to wait for you to meet him in battle, and this is your chance to go back and finish any side quests. In the future.
Demise waited for thousands of years because Skyloft is STILL THERE!
Or maybe his defeat in the past was already set in stone.
Timetravel is confusing
Returning back to the present and seeing how everything is back to normal makes it obvious that the events of Skyward Sword already happened in the distant past. Tge old woman in the Sealed Grounds tells Link that his arrival to the Surface was destined a very long time ago, so his fight and defeat of Demise was also part of it.
well to be fair he is kind of immortal a few moments is thousands of years
@Fluffynator Well, with Impa it was, but with some tree it wasn't. I wouldn't be surprised if nintendo didn't quite pay attention to the rules
Not to mention how polite/respectful he is, even after being defeated. It just makes him that much more chilling of a villain IMO.
I actually like how Demise, in his adrenaline-laced drive to survive, was actually able to dodge the first two death strikes before finally succumbing to the third. It made for a nice fake-out moment.

Underrated game. I find the hatred towards it mostly biased from people who just cannot grow up and accept that things move forward and advance in innovation. The people that don't care for this game should just stop ranting about it and go back to playing the old games.

Even good games have tutorials.
I don't get why people don't like skyward sword. Really now, it makes no sense.
wait that was botw. oh crud.
And that's why I got the hylian shield immediately after helping out the thunder dragon... So I don't ever have to worry about a broken shield...
skyward sword is super fun, Idk why it got so much hate. Maybe because it was on the wii? Idk, but younger me loved being able to actually swing the sword around
my brother, if you like atmosphere, give Metroid Prime a try.
The Wii was actually the highest selling 7th generation console. I think people only hate it just because they are just bad at the motion controls

Can we appreciate Link's development as a character? He goes from this fun, goofy teenager into a badass warrior that faces the root of all evil.

I love the callback to Twilight Princess with that finisher, and also showing how much of a badass Demise was in being able to dodge that finisher TWICE before finally being taken down.
The fact that he dodges those death blows at the very last moment is absolutely mind-blowing and just absolutely awesome
in the game he's only scripted to dodge it once. the player in this video was just too slow to get it the second time.
It's so easy to beat him buy 3 guardian potions and upgrade them you will be invincible for 8 9 min job done can't believe no one managed to find this well not a cheat code

holykiller1191 this shit was hard as fuck but once you know how to do it's easy.
Demise is like satan himself. This games bosses are so cartoony but demise is one of the evilest zelda characters ever conceived.
It's the first ganon
Which is odd, because literally of the enemies in this game beforehand, bosses included, look like drawings in a kindergartner's notebook. Happy that at least Demise and Ghirahim's true form were appealing to the eyes and intimidating in appearance
Don't forget about Majora who is so evil she doesn't even need a reason to kill and destroy as well as her design being pretty evil looking right down to the mask
He's also one of the few Zelda villains with a sort of honor code.
The Desmeister 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
I know it's a common belief that Demise get's reincarnated as Ganondorf, but for comedy's sake, wouldn't be funny if he came back as a totally different character like King Dedede? XD
...You mean he DIDN'T?
***** Groose was the true villain all along. I FUCKING KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fi is the true enemy here...

Demise: Wait that's cheating
DEMISE vs GHIRAHIM:
Number of battles with Link:
• Demise = 1
• Ghirahim = 3
Number of Fatal Blows they can withstand:
• Demise = 1
• Ghirahim = More than 3
Number of attacks:
• Demise = 3
• Ghirahim = At least 20
Defences:
• Demise = None
• Ghirahim = Skin that's "tougher than any armour"
Status following the final battle:
• Demise = Deceased
• Ghirahim = Alive with barely a scratch
So, Ghirahim should think "F**k you Master, I'm a bigger badass than you could ever hope to be... I'm taking the world for my OWN!"
Except Ghirahim got owned by Demise
+LooneyBoy There you go.
+Josh Watson Well, the sword DID disappear from its master's side towards the end...
It probably won't happen, but if it has to be, I hope it is like that
@@alexiskapotaringa A game where link remembers all of his past lifes would be interesting
Demise's curse is one of the most interesting parts to the Zelda timeline, it makes so much sense and ties things up surprisingly well. I wonder if beings like Malladus and Vaati are caused by Demise's curse as well?
By the incarnation, he means ganon/ganondorf, so Demise came before him
Dracomut I have to wonder how many souls come back, even if not every time.
Ok I definitely want a zelda game where demise returns.
agreed, Just like Zelda is a reincarnation of the goddes Hylia, Ganandorf is a reincarnation of Demise, however unlike zelda, i dont think ganandorf knows of his past life! it would be cool if in one game, Ganandorf learns about his past life Demise, and somehow uses his dark magic to sacrifice his body to bring back the original Demise that was reborn into Ganandorf!
BoTW2 looks fairly promising in that regard...
@@mammothplant I was literally just about to comment this. Wonder if Demise is gonna be the real big bad making a comeback
Demise’s dialogue is some of the best I’ve ever heard from a villain, Nintendo truly made him scary.

So they really succeeded making a terrifying boss. Skyward Sword is Nintendo's greatest achievement. Such a long full epic game. I loved Breath of the Wild but Skyward Sword is still #1 for me. I hope we see Demise again!
+MrGB0923 it's a great game, wish the controls didn't suck though.

This place that demise made, a supposed monster that is the cruelest and evil villain in all of Zelda history... made a beautiful place. Where the sky is blue, the sun is warm and beaming down, and clear water is at your feet. It truly is beautiful, and it feel like it says something about him.
Funny that no one else mentioned this.
I love it when Link raises the Master Sword and that Epic Hero Wins and Evil Will Always Lose music kicks in!! :D
***** Me too! To be honest when it plays it just makes me feel like the kid inside me screaming hell yeah I did it!

You might have to look very closely:
Anytime Link tries to attack Demise without a counter, Demise just shakes his head afetrwards like saying
"No, not like this, my boy"
Spoilers for TOTK:
I feel Ganondorf’s Demon form reveal is a large callback to Demise’s appearance
TotK Ganondorf’s bottoms/pants also looks to be based on the Imprisoned as well.
Another TOTK, skyward sword story got retcon because zonai came from sky which doesn't acknowledge skyward sword story
Ganondorf looks a lot like demise in tears of the kingdom
I'll always remember this fight I didn't know about the Lightning trick. Failed at least 10 times only killed him by rolling around and chipping away one hit at a time. Fight lasted 15 minutes and it was so satisfying when I finally killed the SoB.
Bro, you've way too much patience
same just happened to me, for some reason I couldn't hit him with the lightning, he would always hit me when I tried it
The fact that Demise dodges the death blow is absolutely amazing
Just does a stylish roll into a leap back onto his feet.
You cant even change my mind. This is the best final boss in any Zelda game
That had to be the most badass finish I’ve ever seen in the Zelda franchise.
@@godot_24 no way, c'mon that horse battle was epic and the sword fight one on one combat was so cool!!
@@Linkfan007 bruh cmon here in demise we get to use lightning like fucking zeus
@@yocuff130ok, that aspect WAS pretty cool. 😏 But STILL O_O I'm still on board with TP ganon boss fight being better.
*uses the Triforce again*
“I wish for the curse placed upon me and Zelda by demise to be broken”
Point taken
I can't tell if it's just light shaking for some other reason, but does Demise lightly shake his head when Link kinda messes up? Not when Demise hits Link, but when Link hits Demise's sword a few times, around 2:35 and again at 3:01 and 3:06 .
If that's the case, that's an awesome little detail there.
I'm pretty sure that he does shake his head. I can't believe I've never noticed that! This game is more badass than I thought lol
holy shit it's subtle but I see it
Nah, it's literally Link's movement. Whenever he moves he kinda wobbles side to side and demise's head follows his movement.
I really think it's a head-shake movement. As you can see, Link only walks backwards and does not moves the sword so it is true, when you miss your attempt on hitting Demise, he's like....
"You filthy normie swordsman, REMOVE"
Bunny it's because link is moving around
I just came for a reference for a drawing I’m working on and I don’t know what I was expecting but that was an immaculate run lmao great job!
Notice how Fi said "Good luck" instead of something like "May the goddess be with you." She sounds less formal at this point. :D
Truly a legendary battle compared to other battles in the series. This one feels more genuine with the level of skill behind both fighters. Heck Demise himself fights in a rather organized and skilled way rather than going crazy and just swinging savagely like a maniac.
No one is going to speak how powerful Demise is? He took on a full triforced Link who is arguably the most powerful Link using only his brute strength
Was not the real triforce actualy.
@@hk-4747 wait what ? What do you mean not the real Triforce
Zelda actualy states " if only it was the real triforce" when she gives it to link. Its only a symbolic marker , link did not have the triforce.
I love how Demise's title drop isn't "Demon King Demise" but just "DEMISE"
It's just like the first time we saw Ganon in OoT... Just "GANON." No need for ANYTHING else!
He’s like the perfect size/form for a final boss. Just humanoid enough to seem your equal but just enough taller to evoke a monstrously superior foe
Lord of the Rings has Melkor, Legend of Zelda has Demise
The ending strike is so fucking badarse.
Heres the timestamp 4:40
The game really had to highlight the word "INCARNATION" as if it wasn't obvious enough who this guy was supposed to be the ancestor to
anybody stop to think that the place that the hero of the sky and demise fought, may be the same place where zelda and the hero of time met after defeating ganon?
It took a magical sword, tempered with three magical flames guarded in various temples, blessed by a goddess, with a BOLT OF LIGHTNING channeled into it just to kill that fucking monster.
Jesus F. Christ!
this is eerily similar to the Nameless King fight in Dark Souls 3
Except he didn't rip my dick off and ride a dragon. I come to Demise when I have to take a break from crying from NK.
My thoughts exactly
demise is a big diaper baby compared to Nameless.
From Software gets a lot of inspiration from other games... Nameless King is very likely inspired by this boss.
and Oni Akuma
"And that's how Ganondorf was born!"
*Shuts children's book*
Any questions?
*Everyone's eye twitches in fear*
Me: can we hear it again?
demise: im literally the incarnation of evil
link: heeyah
its insane how link was just a schoolkid and somehow ended up standing toe to toe with the single source of all darkness and evil in the universe, and defeating him in sword combat at the absolute height of his power. the most impressive link ever by far, this is literally chosen one level legendary.
People keep saying Ganondorf could be stronger than Demise. That completely bull shit! It takes all Triforce parts for Link to beat him. Link only needs one for Ganon!
Maybe they were referring to the boss fights?
Here's my logic; Demise looks like Ganon on steroids. And did Demise sort of give Ganon his power? In the timeline, Skyward Sword is two games before Ocarina of Time. Demise promises Link the cycle would "repeat without end," and I think Ganon is the product of that promise. But I haven't played The Minish Cap, which is between Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time, so maybe I missed something.
Besides, if a scrawny Link can fight all those varying forms of Ganon with a sword his size, then a muscle man with a sword three times as large can too.
Martin Johnson ganondorf makes no appearence in MC it has no ties to SS.
Jonathan Reeves Thanks for the info.
When I first saw demise I said "are you Ganondorf's Father?"
The answer to that question is “in a way, yes”
When I think of Wii graphics, my mind immediately turns to Wii Sports, and I remember to pray as thanks for the Switch. But then a certain Skyward Sword comes to mind and, well…
10 years later we can kick demise’s ass again
Gotta love Thunder Dragon
1:52
This hits hard when you realize he actually meant what he said.
An endless cycle of hatred, gloom and malice.
It’s crazy to think this is the first game in the timeline of Legend of Zelda
Demise really had some major Darkseid vibes going on
Even though it won't happen, it would be friggin' amazing to have Demise in Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.
Perhaps have Ganondorf but also have Demise as an alternative skin for him?
JoshArtisticGenius
It would be so cool to have Demise and Toon Ganondorf in the game : the beginning and the end of this evil, two different gameplays, and they would represent both Skyward Sword and the recent Wind Waker HD.
Ganondorf is Demise. Watch the Hyrule Warriors trailer and look at Ganondorf's hair. Also there is tons more proof.
I'd take a Demise in Hyrule Warriors. Seems more likely and it would be awesome.
all these "this boss was so easy" comments. have you actually played the game? this guy took me 30+ tries to defeat, and i had no trouble with the other bosses. am i just a noob?
depends. i always do him without shield or lightning strike and it makes the fight a lot more interresting
+Neb Htims yes you are a noob
Neb Htims Just have some fairies so when you die, you come back to life.
Demise returns winter 2020 on your Switch.

I wish that in the end, Demise got killed by the almighty power that he sought like the Horned King did.
That final blow will always be one of the most satisfying ways to finish a game ever.
Akuma so OP he travels through different games for any bit of a challenge
I love how link has that "Don't fuck with me!" look around 5:20.
Because Link is a Badass
62swordsmen
Story-wise the game was decent, but gameplay wise this game was the second worst (worst being the CDI games if you even count that).
Can we just take a moment to realize that the entire LoZ series happened because Demise is a sore loser?
I will always remember I had 1/4th left of a heart only when landing the final blow. Shit was sick af
When I saw Demise raise his sword and lightning struck, I had this “…wait a minute…what if…” and then I slowly raised my sword and sure enough, my sword got struck with lightning as well. Best moment EVER!
