5:48 Jesus I don’t care what people say about motion controls and how they don’t work well. When you attacked with that finishing blow and it works, it WORKS. You feel the power link is putting in along with the strike of thunder like it is truly your own doing. Also, can we talk about how awesome this is? The fatal blow as link jumps 9 feet into the air and thunder strikes his sword as he plunges it into demise. Like geez... I love this game
I actually understand the hate for this game but it's just such a solid Zelda entry to me. The water colours are so sick, the bosses are cool, I love the story, the music, overall tone, and I love Fi. I get the hate, I really do, but I don't share it. Love Skyward Sword
@@PittsburghSonido one day they will remaster it with controller use and I will get to play this game, besides the old school side scrollers this is the only one I've never played.
@@user-wy1et9dk9w A few years back I committed to beating all the side-scrollers on the NES mini and it wasn't that bad. Since I grew up with the N64 and 3D world thereafter, I was afraid to play the retro games. lol Anyway, yeah, if they remaster this with regular Joycon controls (or whatever console they end up remastering/porting it to), people will flock back to it, IMO.
Ima be straight with you, i didn't play this game when it came out because of the bad rep the controls had. A couple months back, i was doing a Zelda Marathon (all from Wind Waker to BotW), and i played this one for the first time in that context. The controls are outstanding. They work really, really well for a Wii game. Imo, it's not the motion controls the problem with this one. It's all the rest of the jank. Fey is the worst offender to me. 99% of her dialogue is repeating what another NPC just said. She could be mute for the whole game and it'd be that much better for it. Next is Demise's semi-sealed form. It's the least charismatic boss i've fought in any Zelda game. Skyward Zelda is also among the worst Zeldas, she just gets damsel-in-distressed all the time, nothing is explained to Link for no good reason, Impa's unreasonably harsh towards Link, the entire prologue is just high school drama on a floating island, ... There's the cheap backtracking. Dungeons you visit again later, the same level but this time underwater... , the boss rush requiring to redo it for every reward, ... A bunch of shit is just there to pad the runtime, and my gf says it's because they rushed the game to release it on time for the 25th anniversary of the franchise. I feel like the motion controls are what got the most polish, even if they're not perfect. Could use some angle to avoid breaking your wrist while flying or controlling the drone bug. But besides that... it was amazing ! The motion controls and its creative uses were the BEST PARTs of Skyward Sword. It was just a lesser Zelda game overall. I think people just associated the motion control with the sub-par game instead of judging the controls fairly. Basically, its average quality is below the usual Zelda game, but the moments it gets right is peak Zelda. Girahim is EASILY top 3 best Zelda bosses of all time. The pirate bot on the "walk-the-plank" style fight is top 10. The soundtrack is also top-tier, especially the time travelling crystal parts. I think it's my 3rd favourite after TP and BotW. Wind Waker would probably be up there too if i'd grown up on the GameCube, but being a PS kid i just can't wrap my head around the controls on that one.
IMO this final battle is the most epic and satisfying of all the home console Zelda titles. Demise is one hell of a difficult fight (before you completely figure out his patterns), but finally defeating him feels like you slayed dark god or a devil.
The Wii U was basically the HD Wii but unfortunately they didn't make Skyward Sword HD 🙁. They made HD versions of Twilight Princess and Wind Waker for it.
This is hands down my absolute favorite of any Legend of Zelda boss battles-most epic the series has ever had. Its marred only by the fact that the motion controls took so much away from the experience. Yeah it’s a phenomenal feeling when it works, but half the battle is spent with Link waving is sword over his head, always teetering on the edge of the exact angle you need to trigger the attack. Really takes away from the impact, unfortunately.
Am I the only one who hopes that Demise will return someday? Not Ganon or Ganondorf or any other incarnation but the real Demise. Would be epic to have one "final" Zelda game to break the curse by destroying the real Demise. That final Zelda game can once more split into two timelines; one happy ending for the world and a next dark world where Demise won the battle and a new Link and Zelda are born to stop him Ganondorf is nice but after killing him x times, he gets boring. Yuga and the nightmares were fun to fight but both turned to Ganon in the end. A new big bad would be fun^^
I agree with your sentiment about Ganon/Ganondorf. It's kind of irritating. Ganon is the evil puppet master behind almost every Zelda title. The Oracle games, Twilight Princess, Etc. The series was in a crossroads in this regard right after Majora's Mask (which is still my favorite 3D Zelda). Nintendo chose kind of a stale trajectory for Zelda stories after that IMO, but at least we got some awesome games since then like Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild.
Also anyone else notice the sword demise wields is similar to the master sword if I gave it a name it would be Evil’s Long sword seems fitting its the blade that the light fears
I used Dolphin 3.0 because this is the only version which had Emulated MotionPlus, and without it the game becomes unplayable. here is the download: www.emucr.com/2012/02/dolphin-motionplus-git-30-410.html
I still think Demise went too easy on Link during this duel. He had many opportunities to overpower Link and finish him, like when we missed the first fatal blow, but this is what happens when you play with your food
If you still haven't, bite the bullet, get a 2nd hand original Wii-motion plus and cheap IR sensor bar, to try this game on the way faster Dolphin 5.0. It's totally worth it.
Someone else's comment made me realize that the person in this video isn't using a shield which really kinda makes it more epic. It's definitely a hard battle on the first try and you don't know what to do. It looks like they might have had some troubles getting the lightning to strike though. I'd say this battle was definitely one of the harder final Zelda bosses I've played.
