You gave Koji a wonderful foster home when he most needed a safe place to land. Livestock guardian dogs can be tough that way, they will protect a homestead with their life, but they get out of sorts when they have to leave. What a lovely family you found to adopt him and now you have new friends as well!! I wouldn't sweat the trip - I think it's meant to be just a special trip for you and your grandma.

I don't get it! Why not just have the friends "dog sit" when you go on longer trips? I feel badly for Koji, he may feel just tossed away again. We have a kitty who was passed around to 3 other houses before landing with us his 4th. He refuses so come out when anyone comes around. He doesn't want to be "taken" 😿

My heart broke for him. I hope those people are a good fit for him and his forever home.
Koji is a large guardian breed which means he needs to and wants to guard a home and it’s surroundings. It’s his job and it’s what he is genetically programmed to do. I laughed seeing his paws hang over the steps as they will usually dig a hole and hang their paws in it while they lay on the ground. I’m a Maremma Mum so I fully understand your thought process. You have made a fantastic decision for him even though your heart is breaking. I’m sending you big hugs and letting you know that you’re going to be ok and so is Koji. many times you like the looks and type of dog but the way the animal is determines if its a good fit dont know how old his is either older dogs need different things
When you took him in I thought you were just going to get into trouble, He is big and old and with your life's ideas I immediately saw you would get into trouble, You really should have thought before you saved him and gave rico a friend, Because she will be a big loser in this too, And 2 months is enough for Kogi to have attached himself to you and now has to go back in and find peace with other people and dogs, he will get stressed and definitely have a hard time, A dog have feelings and don't believe we always know what is best. You have to think that children in the future will also put many restrictions on you throughout life. Especially when they have to go to school and have friends, You can't do everything you want all the time, It's responsibility and obligation. Felt very sad for Kogi and Rico. Hope this will be a lesson for you and not just decide such totally responsible matters overnight, but review the pros and cons. And you shouldn't visit him for the time being, it will make him confused, He needs to know you are now gone and only come to visit, Yes, life requires a lot and remember we choose how much responsibility we want to take on, You can't play with living creatures according to what pleases one in the moment and just throw it away as garbage. Amen, also agree. My heart is breaking terribly for Koji (and Rio). I just found this channel and was so inspired by this young girl, but now..... :( Bringing a pet into one's home is a huge responsibility for their ENTIRE life. We need to be unselfish and sometimes make sacrifices to keep them as comfortable as possible.

Personally, I could not give up one of my dogs. They are part of the family, it's like giving up one of my kids.
I couldn't either. It would haunt me for the rest of my life.
Don't go and visit him. It will just confuse him and Koji. Haven't you considered getting a house sitter to stay with him when you go on your long trips or even let him stay with the two girls you've placed him with? That way, they have quality time with him and he gets to come back to his home from a nice vacation and will be glad to see you. Think on it.

I am so sorry! How thoughtless of your Dad to do that to you and your beloved friend. Some things that happen to us when young are so impressionable, we never forget. But, I do know that God knows and takes care of even our furry friends.

i think she got her heart broken recently (but she didnt share it ), and also her noticing the older seiner dog is struggling when she is on big trips/travels.
I feel sorry for Koji and Rio. They deserve better.

You need to give him more of a chance adopting a dog is really hard on them. There is a saying that you don;t get the dog you want you get the dogs you need.

Poor heartbroken Koji. He found family with you and Rio. I'm really disappointed because I know you're a good person but you should never ever consider adopting another dog. It isn't fair to the dog or to Rio, who will also be heartbroken at losing her companion. The worst part is how you made yourself out to be the heartbroken one. I bet Koji cried more than you did. I'm sorry but I just don't understand how "letting go" is a good thing in this instance.
It's really good to take care of yourself and be honest with yourself about what that looks like. It always winds up better for everyone involved even if not everyone sees it that way at the onset. Keep doing what's right for you. ❤
Celebrate the time with your grandma! They’ll be a next time for a group. As someone who recently had to let go of my favorite person in the world, who is also my grandmother, that time is so precious. This video is so genuine and beautiful, while also heartbreaking ❤️🩹 it looked like Koji is in a great home!

You need to understand that this is going to be very hard for your girl Rio she's not going to understand and I've been in rescue for very very many years and you should not go over there and two days and see him you need to give him time to understand that he's living where he's living and yes new mama's so you need to rethink that and give him some space for a little bit and then and sometime you can go and visit him but you need to give him some time to understand that you're not Mama anymore it will just confuse him

This is so so true, I also have worked with rescues, do fostering, and people don’t realise how confused and stressed the dogs get, they go through confusion of being in a difficult environment and not with their family, so they are grieving the loss of the family they had know, now he gets attached to a new Mumma and fur sister and settles into his new life and bang it changes again, he has too get used to both new humans AND other dogs. I am sorry I am not meaning to be rude at all, but we take on these animals and they are OUR responsibility, they don’t get to say anything, they depend on us and when we take them in we take them in for their life time. I have had to move lots of times due to domestic violence but it has never been a question that I wouldn’t take my girl with me, I just kept looking for places to rent that allowed dogs.
I agree to an extent but see it from Koji's side , he was just settling in and now you have uprooted him to another family who have 2 dogs and left him alone and somewhat scared. Okay you say you are close to him and as you filmed that episode we could see his eyes, as if knowing in advance what your decision about him was and that was sad to watch.
She made the right decision. She knew what was best, and it is a perfect place for Koji, in the long run. They lost their big dog. As long as there is love, a wide open space, and that nice big porch, food and water; he will adjust 💯%. Animals are resilient. Some kids don't even have a home and open space that nice to play in. Stop trying to lay a guilt trip on her.

I’ve been here since early on in Lucky Bus, and I think that this video was the worst one you’ve done. Your 2 biggest, most recent, and clearly most spontaneous decisions left people AND puppies “in the cold.”

Wow, for Me, I could Never Give up My Beautiful Lady. I Guess I'm more of the Accommodating for her kind...if I had to leaver her with someone else temporarily to do my trips I would.. But That's just me...Other wise, Too Much Thinking...I Use to be that way Too...but the older I got, it just got Too Exhausting and didn't find true Freedom in that. I found I was too much of a prisoner of my own mind....By getting out of my own head, I found less restriction, less Anxiety, a Real Sense of Freedom...And Developed a Go With The Flow Type of Attitude...I feel So Much More Free And No Restrictions, less Hastle, Smell the Air Every Day Kind Of Freedom, and Just Glad to B Alive, and Experience what Every Day has To Bring, Surprises, or no Surprises. When you talked about getting Koji's DNA tested in the first video after you got him, you already had a clear idea of what breed he was - Maremma or Great Pyrenee. I believe you researched those breeds. And now that you've all beautifully bonded, you're rehoming the poor guy because - surprise! - he has the temperament of a Maremma or Great Pyrenee.
"He just wants to be a porch dog"? No, he's being the good livestock guardian dog you picked out of tens of thousands of shelter dogs that may have been more suitable for your lifestyle, whatever that means.
You bought a homestead to renovate that you're not renovating, you invited people on a trip you're not taking, you adopted an abandoned dog only to re-abandon him, and your pretense for not committing, not following through, not taking on responsibilities, not adulting, is this repetitive pseudo-deep, pseudo-philosophical blah about life and love and how everything should only ever be about you and your happiness only.

I finally got the courage to watch this video, hoping I'd find some solace in her decision to rehome sweet-boy Koji. But, THIS comment sums it up 100%. Koji WAS at home in your small home, Alyssa, with the peaceful porch and yard, and got along perfectly with Rio. Koji is laid back and your atmosphere with only ONE other dog was absolutely ideal for him.

What would be good for the guy is to not invite a dog into your home, and family, until he’s attached, then leave him with someone else. This seems to be common among youtubers.
I want, I want, I want. But the problem is some people just don't know what they want. It would be wise not to adopt any more dogs before you're sure you've settled down. It's hard on them because they don't understand what the hell's going on.

Where ever you are is where your dogs home is. I’ve had beautiful loyal German Shepherd’s for years. My lifestyle has changed a lot due to the needs of my dogs. if you can’t adjust to what your dog needs it’s best to find people who can do that. Dogs needs also change over the years. I had a GSD rescue who at age six developed degenerative myopathy and I had to care for him, a large dog who slowly became paralyzed. You never know what your dog is going to need from you.
What about your dog she had a friend? She needs a friend too.
In the video where you adopted Koji (less than 2 months ago), you said said he had been dumped on the side of the road and waited there for days for his family to come back for him. You said he needed a second chance. You said this was his forever home and he was part of the family.
I agree. She thinks she is doing what's best for Koji but honestly it's like she is so selfish of her lifestyle regardless of how koji might feel she sends koji off to some strangers house to live. I'd be worried if I were her husband and she didn't think I'd suit her lifestyle after marrying me she might just leave me and expect to be friends. People think it's such a selfless thing to dump your family members on someone else if you think it's best for koji but did koji have a say in this? Heartless in every way. good for you. So glad you are taking back control. Social media has a ways of changing people but not for the better. They put on a show and everything is perfect when in reality it is not. You did the right thing by your dog, you loved him enough to put his happiness first. The posts on here are exactly why the shelters are overflowing with dogs. It isnt "brave" or "selfless" to give up on a dog because you didnt think it out beforehand. Thankfully, the new couple stepped up to take the dog in, but there is no guarantee he gets to stay in that home. And, dogs bond with their people, their home and other dogs. Adopting a dog is for life not for a few videos. Be an adult and figure out what fits in your life before you take the step to bring a dog into your life.
Agree. This is why you do your research on the breed you are bringing into your home. Genetics matter. Any little bit of research on this breed should have told her it was not going to be the right fit. It’s not selfless to not research and think it through then have to uproot the dog, it’s selfish to not think it through before you adopt an animal.

That's ridiculous. You get the dog feeling loved and excepted by you and Rio. Now you're taking him away from what makes him comfortable and loved. Feel like your making excuses for your selfishness, because your burdened by him in someway. Not only that the trauma that you just put Rio through...very disappointing

Hey Lyss, this was a tough one. Kogi has the spirit of an older dog. He seems to be done with the running, rolling and chasing everything that runs through the yard. Like you said, the wanderlust isn’t his thing. That being said, it’s not easy giving up a fuzzy buddy, but I think you did the right thing… and even if you realized the challenge of him was too much for you, you still did the right thing. He’ll be happy on that spectacular porch. Also, don’t let the big Alaska plans discourage you, the fact that your still going with your grand is the most important thing anyway.

To be a good person, responsibilty is a big part of it. Just like you purchased a home and you take care of it because you are responsible. Taking on a dog means being responsible and just because he may not fit into your lifestyle at the moment, that is fine, find someone to take care of him when you are gone. You brought him in, made him happy with a companion and then you just plain dump him. Yes, dump him. Maybe they are good people, hopefully they are but dogs have feelings too. The amount of stress you placed on Koji and not being around Rio is just not forgiveable. Learn something and grown up! My guess is, you will lose, based upon a short statistical analysis here, at least 10 to 15 percent of your subscibers.... too bad you are NOT responsible.... You can dream up all sorts of words about knowing when to let go but nope, you have no excuse. You did not lose your home, your income, your truck, your RV, you lost nothing.....Sympathy is for people hurting and you only hurt Koji and I am sure Rio too. Sorry about this and really sorry for Koji.

I would never rehome a dog. It would be crushing.
Selfish through and through getting rid of that dog. It fits hand in glove with these individuals who post about themselves in perpetuity, and is another inversion of wisdom.
Good for you ❤ what you did for koji had to be so hard. It’s not easy to let go. But sometimes it’s necessary for the greater good. Keep following your gut and your heart and your mind. Ultimately you DO know what’s best for your life. Don’t let the people with strong opinions and closed minds get to you with their words. You did the right thing, even though it was heartbreaking. That’s admirable ❤❤ you and too will find another buddy. There’s tons of doggos that need the right home for them.

That’s really hard. As you explained it, I was like “Dang. That’s such a shame.” It must’ve been so hard to do that. Maybe you were more like his foster mom. Unlike most foster moms, though, you’ll be able to see him fairly often. What you did is what fosters do: take them into a home situation, love on them, then find them the best home that will work for the dog and his personality. It’s not easy at all, but you’re wonderful for realizing this, and not leaving him with just anyone. I wanted to hug you when you broke down crying. It’s hard, and there are a LOT of feelings to sort through.

Just watched this gotta do you and what's best for you always. Take your grandma to Alaska. You do not need a bunch of extra people there to ruin your memories on that trip. So you fostered a dog for a spell. You found him a great space to roam and people to love him. We all go through our struggles. Take your time on doing you. There is no rush in figuring out life, I'm still doing it myself. I know it's not in my current situation but one day changes will come as well. Have a wonderful week ahead

That is the most unselfish thing I’ve seen a person do. You thought about his quality of life and what was better suited for him, despite the heart ache it would cause you to give him up. Not many people can do that. I see what you did and hope that more people can learn from you and be strong enough to let go rather than cling to something so much as to over look the consequences.

It broke my heart to watch you be sad and love enough to let go. This video happened on me at the perfect time. I have had a foster kitten since July 4th week-end and I have grown to love him so much. He has the most amusing personality, he's so smart, beautiful and the softest fur. He's a Utopia Bengal with the most unique markings. I've had cats my entire life and a rescue 15 years ago. Some of the cats that remain are all over 11 years old and I'm 73. It wouldn't be fair to the adorable kitten, to me or my adult cats to keep him. If he happened upon us 10 years ago, there would be no doubt I'd keep him. I call him KitTen because it's not fair to name him. If I was able to keep him, I would name him Marcel after the wonderful mime Marcel Marceau. He'll be going to a Cat Rescue next week who will screen and find a furever home for him. Even though I know it's for the best, it will be sad. So - thank you for making this video and sharing.

😥😢😭 my heart was breaking 💔 when you had to let the big guy go. Lyss I don't if I could have done it. My girl is getting old and having a had time getting around now. I know someday I'll have to let her go in a different way and it'll tair me apart. But that's "in my case" the cycle of life. Peace 🙏
