My ex-wife abandoned me and our daughter who at the time was only 9 years old. As a single parent I had no problem devoting my time to raising her. Now that she’s older I frequently find myself alone. I have not dated since my ex-wife left. I don’t have the courage to go out and eat alone or go to the movies. I applaude you for having that courage.

Edwin I was so moved by your post I felt compelled to respond...... I know how incredibly difficult it is to meet a nice lady as we move into middle age.... especially going out alone as a man b/c of a perceived "Creep" factor..... I find when you go "Out" & the sole objective is meeting someone it's incredibly stressful b/c it creates so much pressure & who can act natural under those circumstances so seek to eliminate those conditions.....
Something that worked for me was donation Charity.... Pick one or two local Charities or perhaps an Art Museum or a local University, Hospital or Church & make a small monthly donation & you will often be invited to fund raisers, balls, dinners & so on.....
This is a fantastic way to make new friends & meet single / divorced women on a comfortable footing..... First, it's a great cause & your motive for attending is altruistic so it's a Natural conversation starter - ie.... how did you get involved w/ Children's Hospital of Philadelphia or what inspired you to get involved w/ the Philadelphia Museum of Art.....
Another excellent opportunity is signing up to learn a particular type of Dance: Ballroom Dancing, Salsa, Samba & so on...... The reason this is such a good possibility is b/c the instructor will often offer to do Group lessons by Age category & Skill level so there are always singles who come alone & a "beginners course is very low impact & the teacher will match everyone w/ a partner RANDOMLY - so there is No pressure
Signing up to learn a Foreign Language or a Book club are also Excellent opportunities
If you are truly brave - beginners Yoga is a similar construct
Another opportunity is over the internet you can search for Group events like Movies or Hiking or Casino trips or Biking......
& finally much like Charity involvement , you can Volunteer - local Churches & Hospitals often organize events or drives to help Homeless different seasons / struggles or if you are more of an animal person perhaps you can volunteer a few hours a week a week or month at a local animal shelter
If you are involved in business in any way a Great way to meet people & connect is through the the local chapter of the Chamber of Commerce chapter...... Chamber of Commerce provides Innumerable opportunism to meet & connect w/ the most diverse group of people you can possibly imagine
No mater which direction you choose, I know from personal experience that the MOST difficult obstacle is choosing just One & getting started....... So pray for Grace & Courage & I'll do the same
I wish you the very best & Always remember when that Fear grips you that there is a shortage of Good, Family first men out there - so these wonderful single / divorced ladies WANT to meet you & build a friendship & the Romance & Chemistry requires no effort on your part b/c when it happens nothing can stop it & when it's absent nothing can manufacture it 😁😁

I now live in Joseph, Oregon in a town of 1000 people and not a single stop light in the county. How nice. I hate stop and go traffic. Like Colorado here in Joseph with tall mountains, a big beautiful lake on the edge of town. Alyssa, you handled your bus problem wonderfully. Fun to see your other side. Alyssa, lately I had watched some of your older videos from the first bus on the road adventures and you had a little chat with Philip and Lidia at TinyFest. Well I see Lidia put out a video very lately talking about her and Philip having parted ways. In my mind the last two and a half years have sure had a play in relationship problems and life stress as per so many loosing their jobs and financial struggles, the insane major increase in cost of living etc and its taken its toll on people. Another couple I just thought of or at least she ( Christian Schaffer ) living van life that has a channel, she and her boyfriend have parted ways a few months back. Two people living in a small space constantly 24/7 with no personal time to ones self could drive a person batty. Its probably why some couples who actually have the funds build a house and lets say a separate garage to tinker in with a rec room with facilities above that becomes the males "Man Cave" and can invite other guys over and so forth so the couple doesn't end up strangling each other !.

I think what a lot of people miss is that all relationships fail EXCEPT the last one. We keep working though people and situations until we finally find one that works. Most don't. But as you say, it takes a lot of sacrifice and a lot of work on both sides. One big thing is having the discernment to actually choose the right person. The other big thing is actually being the right person.

Well l can only speak as a married person of 14 years whose relationship started with someone in another country 3 years before that. Being separated by 1200 miles me London UK, my wife originally Bialystok Poland. It's the little things in life that make the relationship. Doing something for your other half. Sharing, caring, buying a simple bunch of Rose's. I unlike other men treat my wife with respect, buy her flowers once a week, or occasionally something more expensive bottle of wine, take her and the family out. Most men only buy flowers, chocolates, wine or theatre tickets when they have done something wrong. Why wait to do so.ething wrong do the right thing first. After three years of only seeing each other at holiday times and not originally having whatsapp only writing letters to one another. We got together. 3 months after that l proposed and we got married that was 14 years ago 12th July. Two years after that l got married again to the same person but In a Polish church on the 12th August just because we could. Sometimes your have to give a little to take a little and lock down and covid was a huge step back. So many people are Sueing the pharmaceutical companies and others for lick down in the US. But the uk we are not even though that was our one disagreement to have the vaccine or not. My wife didn't have the vaccine until she was forced by her employer to have it. I on the other hand have had numerous medical problems pluracy, sepsis and covid pneumonia all at the same time and covid very nearly killed me so l had the vaccine so far no side effects unlike others. So that was our one and only disagreement. In life it's what you make of it. I am not religious, my wife is does it matter not really. So you just have to be who you are, where you are and size of space doesn't matter if you truly love each other.

I watched this video a few days ago and decided just to ponder it. Great job by the way in diagnosing the electrical issue, those are the worst and you got way WAY closer to the solution than pretty much any people I know who consider themselves mechanically inclined.
As for treating your single self kindly and respectfully, it looks like you are feeling a little bit lonely but still in a good place emotionally in life, having a dog really helps with centering us physically and emotionally. Great job again!
And now a little advice finding and keeping a partner. It's pretty simple, find someone who treats you lovingly with the same kindness, respect, admiration, and friendship the way you treat your wonderful furry friend then you will have a great life. Never settle for anything less. Be safe out there...

Life is challenging. Meeting someone of the opposite seems who you can connect with in these times is near impossible.
Was married to a very good woman that changed after marriage. Been divorced 12 years now. Went on dates with 4 women since. 2 of the 4 was 1 date. Latest was for several months, nothing of substance happened as we lacked a connection. Then the one I knew the longest and was interested in, revealed herself to be a waste of time.
If you feel something is off initially its probably best to move on and follow your own purpose. Society has seemed to made relationships deeply non-valued in today's world. Its sad.
Marriage and family were high priorities in my life trying to live by God's values. I feel that has passed me by at this point.

I'm puzzled by the nomads extremely lucky to be so far away from the nonsense, yearning for connection themselves. Relationships are give and take, up n df owns and helping to be best person one can be. Living in warped society it's difficult to see the reality cause how shaped we are conditioned. See a trend when man thinks God isn't related to anymore? Left to ourselves were chasing the wind wanting to be loved not actually knowing we are!

Glad you're feeling a bit better in yourself. Future reference, regards intermittent or sudden loss of power it's often a bad connection to the battery or similar, always a good place to start check all the connections starting with the battery and work your way down the line if you're able to. (I had same on my BMW thought was a major problem tuned out the ground wire was loose where it attached to the body of the car) miraculously found it myself as was stranded.. Keep focusing on yourself Lyss, your growth, and becoming totally comfortable in your own skin and knowing yourself in all circumstances as a woman and a human being. That is what needs to come first in life not last like it does for many the way our culture is designed. Many people who live that "conventional life" you speak of......high school, college, get married, house, kids, career and build a life, retire, die.....get so caught up in trying to do what is "expected" of them that they fail to grow much beyond where they are in their early 20s. And many of them are miserable along the way yet will continue their patterns and life since they know nothing else and it is scary. They refuse to change because they feel that is what is expected of them by their family, friends, and culture in general. It is that "quiet desperation" and surface level "faking" of a fulfilled life and happiness that is very obvious to someone who has taken the time like you are doing to become their own person outside the conventional belief systems of our culture. To be honest, it personally almost makes me ill sometimes being around it being at my current point of life. I see it every day in people who are very old and yet still trying to figure these things out and have still not matured much past those early 20s years. Very sad. Ultimately though, know yourself, be yourself, and maybe the only thing worth sacrificing some happiness for in life is true unconditional love that is mutual and equial with another person. But you have to find that first which of of course is very much not easy in this day and age. That of course is a another conversation all together and could write a book. Either way, God bless you Lyss and Rio and keep doing what you are doing. You are on the right path even if you sometimes question it. How do I know? Humbleness where you are....quote from you: "I dont have the answers". That is an old soul statement because non of us do and the more we admit that fact the more we will grow trying to figure some of this all out instead of pretending we know it all.
Beware though of the people who profess to have all the answers at any stage of life. Often in the end they really have even less answers then most. Like what is wasting a life? GOOD QUESTION! Yet it is a common statement from people who are really jealous of people living outside of the conventional expect life within our culture. They are miserable and sad so they try to make others feel less to make themselves feel better. Just remember that if anyone ever tries to make you feel like you are less because of the life you are leading. God bless and safe travels,
    N
