Ace Combat 5 (Emulated) - M26: Sea of Chaos

- Two world powers pitting their mighty fleets against us, the unknown and unsung. And they. Get. Rekt. Anderson's playing the wrong tune: he should have been blasting the March of the Resistance.
Naval combat at its finest. The enemy ships and aircraft may lack the aggressiveness both have in ACX's Armada, but their distribution is far more balanced - my only gripe is the aircraft spawning at your 12 o'clock, which can drag you away from the naval battle, but that's avoidable. And really, as much as I'm a gameplay-first kind of guy, this mission strikes all the right emotional chords with me. Not so much the music or the cheesy international friendship, but the resistance and counterattack against superior might, against superpowers, the world order and the odds be damned - hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng.
The Yuktobanian defection, sinking of the defecting ship, and subsequent defection are probably one of the most emotional scenes in the entire series for me. Something about it really gets me and I almost tear up every time.
i always try to save all three yuke defector vessels from being sunk all the time

@@JeffreyBarkdull i dont remember what was the ship, its been a long time since i last played it. ofc i do, ive sunk all enemy ships, yukes and oseans alike all the time

i'll play devils advocate but i think its to unmask the veil of "the other". Granted they could of just slipped the voice actor and said fuck it but id rather see the former than the latter...this game was so beautiful
All the ships are destroyed, I've just got two enemy planes left. I go vertical, end up behind them, and at that moment the rest of my squadron appears in front of me. I do nothing; my allies let out a flurry of missiles right in front of me. The soundtrack reaches its end, along with the mission. One of the most beautiful moments I've ever experienced. Love this game.

This is perhaps the most chaotic mission of the entire game. It rivals Mayhem (Ace Combat Zero) and Shattered Skies (Ace Combat 4) in a lot of ways.
Siren Song, Battle of Farbanti 2019, Homeward and Lighthouse
This song is what got me into Ace Combat. The song transitioning to non-diagetic at 4:57 is the most beautiful moment in the entire franchise. Is it cheesy? Yeah. But at the same time it's also very mature and unexpected. Before I got into Ace Combat, I thought it was a generic war simulator. All those wasted years.
For a game with cheeky fighter jets and mass killing for points (hoffnung, for instance), they are surprisingly anti-war stories. 04 is about understanding how even the good men are placed in the wrong side of the war, 5 is about how love can still bloom amidst the sea of chaos and hatred, and Zero, why we human still choose to fight even after the war is over for the skewed idea of "for the better of humanity".
This mission is crazy The Kestrel and his group had to face not only the Yuktobanian Fleet but also Ships from the same country that considered them traitors for joining Yuktobanian Ships to their fleet
The PS2 era Ace Combat games feature some of the best story telling not only on the console, but in video game history.
Ace Combat 5's story is so incredible, it's hard to really describe in words.
As an Air-to-Sea fan, this mission is pretty much perfect for me, it'd be my favorite mission in the game if it just had different music, I know Journey Home has a strong place in the plot and all, but I'll take Fire Youngman or Alect Squadron/Armada over it anyday!

Alright, I'll let up on AC5 for a bit. These last few missions really are fun. Not a lot of "script padding", lots of enemies... It really does come together in the end.
Also, Decoder has probably the most badass Rafale B ever. Jesus. What does decoding have to do with that paint job anyways?

This is the best mission I’ve played in Ace Combat. I’ve played Ac04, Ac5, Ac7, and Project Wingman.
I don't know why, but i forgot the 'Weird' accent of the Yuktobanian officers are supposed to be 'Russian' accent.
I guess that's what happens when the human models were smooth CGI made that is works of Japanese studios.
Not that I'm nitpicking against it, i rather somewhat liking it
My only problem with this mission is Swordsman. When he says “they don’t know us, we’re supposed to be dead” no Swordsman the three of us are supposed to be dead. You’re the one we let shoot “us” down when fleeing Sand Island
I guess hes referring to them being the razgriz , and talking about how the razgriz are supposed to be dead. And probably show that he will take place in honor of chopper

@@zoneofendless6501 But again it's Swordsman who is saying it. He is saying it like he's been there the entire time. Which he hasn't. That's my whole point with Swordsman talking like he's been there this entire time when in fact he wasn't. By the time he comes into play Chopper was already dead sadly. And, all that was left was Grim, Nagase and "you" as Blaze. I get where you're trying to go with the four planes and the four emblems thing. But my entire point is about Swordsman acting like he has been there the entire time, when we ALL know that isn't the case.

That's the best mission to Farm money, and that's why:
1st: get the falken
2nd: play this mission in hard
3rd: finish it in 2~4 minutes
4th: get profit
5th: repeat 2nd stage to 5th stage untill you get enough money.

It's not one of my favorite ACs, due to missions being too scripted, with repetitive gameplay, long waiting times, and small scale battles in general. This mission is certainly an exception though, it's fantastic.

Absolutely, most likely on PC. And I hope to perform better there, as since I never owned a PS2, I'm less experienced in the PS2 trilogy than most of the fanbase. Specially my gun marksmanship, really need to improve on that.

The bit of theme that plays at 1:20 and onward till it cuts to the carrier is one of my favorite bits from AC5's soundtrack its to bad the song is cutscene exclusive and never appears in the OST.
why were you using LASMs on the ship armament but not the ships themselves? that seems like a waste of missiles

I haven’t heard this sound track while the sea battle is going on since I played this on my ps2 now, the feeling of hearing this and I’m 26 now is a sense of nostalgia man makes a grown man tear up
