Every time I play ace combat, I end up trying to circle behind an enemy, and we just continue doing circles and backflips for 5 minutes while I try to find them
Stop dogfighting and switch targets. The A.I. is dumber against head on missile strikes or midrange missile strikes from behind. For example, against super maneuverable enemies (bosses), fly far away and then turn around and fly straight at them at full speed. If they try to play chicken with you they'll usually run face first into missiles. Also, in certain situations, stagger your missile launches. Several missiles fired in quick succession can be dodged as if they were just one missile. If you wait between missile launches, the enemy has to dodge several missiles coming from different vectors. You have to slow down to change directions (physics). Fire the second (third) missiles while they're changing directions (slowing down) to dodge the first one.
Also, aircraft have a range in which they are most maneuverable (speaking of AC7). Generally speaking, for most planes, this is 600-1800. If you fall below that pitch down, speed up, and you'll do much quicker high g turns again. It also might make the enemy fly straight towards you. HVAAs go well with that btw. Also, get accustomed to target switching. When you're circling, have a look on the radar to see the heading of other planes around you. Quick switching and a standard missile or two can bag you many kills.
you're not alone i was using the F15J against more manueverable SU 30's something aircraft, we've been doing circles and circles for several times i couldn't make a "LOCK ON" i was losing precious time, its getting frustrating already... eventually i quit chasing that bastard i let him escape to look for another target......
In this situations I prefer to pull a post stall manauver. This will allow the enemy to overshoot and for me to the. Steadily lay down the bastard with amraams
Just picked up Ace Combat 7 super cheap on clearance at the Playstation Store, and these awesome and easy to understand tutorial videos are exactly what I was looking for, thank you. AC7 is an incredible game, especially on a 4K big screen or in VR, and these videos really speed up the learning curve. Great job.
Interesting data: In AC5, the high-G turn was "doable" using the air brake button. It didn't have the same end result as AC6 and AC7 but it was pretty effective, specially fighting against Grabacr and bombing the Scinfaxi.
@@weir-t7y I think autopilot triggered pressing rudder left and right at the same time. If you pressed R1 and L1 at the same time while turning, the plane would loose speed but make a sharper turn. Beware, my memory may be failing, I played AC5 15 years ago 🤣
So far I've beaten 5,6 and 7 and yet I still come back here. Why you may ask? This is seriously one of the best guides ever. Not just for Ace Combat , not just in gaming , everything.
I'm a new player to Ace Combat game. I bought a gamepad recently and started playing AC with it and I got the problems controlling and tracking the enemies. Sometimes I found that it's close but still not that close enough to perform a gun firing, and I often got missiles being dodged by the enemies even when it's fully locked from a distance (I know that I can dodge it and so do the enemies, however, nobody would like to see your enemies dodging your attack). Certainly an underrated 101 video, very helpful and I'm gonna try them one by one in the game.
Oh the days back in Infinity where I started learning Expert controls... Damn this video is a Nostalgia Trip... So many good memories. We miss you Tomcat!
Wow. This is really helpful. I don't have Ace Combat 7. But I managed to get Project Wingman today, and boy your tutorials on flying help a lot! Thanks man.
Thank you! I did learn some things in this video. Did pick up Ace Combat 7 on monday and was kinda overwhelmed. Glad I found this video and I was laughing during the part where you actually tried to say "oh crap!" because exactly that happened to me in the second mission because I lost orientation
@21:00 actually the aileron roll can have some use at least in ace combat i use it a fair bit actually to split structures im trying to fly between and instead of doing a 50/50 i just do a full roll
These are the same moves i did when I played any Flight arcade games, but i didn't know they had names behind them, like the Immelman Turn for example. I figured out these moves naturally by just playing the game lol
the only time I have used the auto pilot function is on the second to last mission of AC7 with the arsenal bird and drone fighters, there are so many clouds XD
Maybe it's just me, but I've had a lot of success in the campaign dogfights of Skies Unknown by using the Aileron Roll. Granted, not defensively to avoid missiles or gunfire, but to alter the angle at which I launch my missiles up the other guy's tailpipe.
I am new to video games started playing forza at 62 and am now 65 I want to learn to fly and play Ace combat 7 I have bought flying tigers over China, Ace combat 7 and a xbox hotas one flight stick. I just started watching Ace combat 101 and have subscribed to your channel. Have I wasted my money on a hotas 1. I see you use a controller could you tell me which is best and how to set up and what buttons do what. Maybe make a short video about controller setup or hotas set up for dummies. I know this is asking a lot but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks (GT) Speciouspear411 Xbox one X
Ace Combat isn’t too difficult of a game to learn. The basic setup for AC7 is R1 and L1 are for yawing and R2 and L2 are for acceleration. I played the games when I was younger so I switch the buttons up. (I played the AC series with controller and not a Hotas and I’m not sure if you’ve been helped but I’ll try.) the left stick is for moving the plane. On expert you can roll the plane by turning the stick left and right. You control the pitch by moving the stick up and down( up is down and down is up) Circle is for the missles, bombs and special weapons, while the touch triangle button is for switching targets. X controls the guns and I think square switches weapons. The touchpad( or equivalent button for Xbox or PC, I play PS4 so sorry again). That’s the basic controller setup and it does a pretty great job. In terms of hotas ACF(AceCombatFan) should have a video of him using it, but the controller is pretty fun to use as well You probably didn’t need this seeing as it’s been a month or two since you said this but... yeah

What I don't like about AC is the camera rolling with you when you're rolling the aircraft in third person. It's very disorienting and awkward. I guess I got used to games like Battlefield, GTA and even War Thunder where while flying you can maneuver the plane without the camera mimicking every single movement you do.
Appreciate this very much. The last time I played AC was back in psp slim days . Such a long time. I just got the AC and TOPGUN dlc and ready to soar and have fun again. :)

Since you have to fly sideways to course correct I end up going all over the place and crashing about 30% of the time.
