As a metal enthusiast, I love your channel, Beth. It's fun to watch you explore the genre a bit. I HIGHLY recommend making a video of Candlemass with their singer Messiah Marcolin. He's simply a legend. Sort of like a metal opera singer. Definitely a unique talent. I'd love to hear your analysis.

One of the great things about Tom Araya's vocals is that he is generally VERY clear and understandable, despite the speed of the music. I really enjoyed this reaction/analysis; now please do Angel of Death; you'll end up talking about the opening vocal for like 8 minutes. :D

If you have something to say, it is better off to be clear to have it picked. It is a problem with many metal bands that are on the more extreme side. Grunt grunt GRUUUNT, grunt grunt....

seeing slayer always brings a smile to my face, and fun fact: in one of their last shows here in Brazil, they were playing War ensemble and the sound of the place just shut off in the middle of the song, the only thing making sound was the drums (but only the acoustic sound), the people in the pit begin to sing out loud from there to the end, and you could see Araya happiness to see the people finishing the song for him

I'm a huge extreme metal fan, especially death metal and thrash metal. I got this on cassette as an Xmas gift from my grandparents back in high school (I graduated in 1988), hearing your critique on this is such a great experience. I've found a lot of folks with musical backgrounds like you are actually less judgemental about this music. I had a co-worker at one shop that would actually react to my music a lot like you do, she was more interested in their techniques than giving me those evil looks I'm so used to! She genuinely liked Death (my favorite band), and VoiVod (although I don't consider VoidVod extreme, some of their older stuff is more thrash like), and was a joy to discuss music with.
Love the channel, and love seeing you cover music like this!

I used to listen to metal (mostly mainstream) with little or no thrash. Tried death metal and could never get into it. Over time my tastes have migrated to more funk/r&b/hip-hop but I always find myself appreciating the musicianship of thrash. I recall watching Dark and listening to Kreator Pleasure to Kill. It evoked such a visceral emotion of dislike and hate in me but when I gave it a second listen I loved the speed and precision of the drums (the video is utterly bonkers though)

When you put it on (yeah, we did "put on" LP records back then lol) it musically kinda feels like one big story divided in short explosive parts. And then suddenly it's over. Awesome. The best Slayer album, by far, along with South of Heaven. Have seen them live a couple of times, and boy do they deliver, like here. He has interesting vocals; they create an eerie atmosphere and build, and use interesting chords and melodies and progressions and time changes. As someone mentioned, what’s great is his lyrics are clear, which is difficult to do in thrash. If you didn’t completely listen to Tori Amos’ cover, you should. It’s excellent, and SO different from the original, which is also difficult to do well, in a totally different style.

I am, or used to be a stutterer. Respitory therapy was far more useful to me than usual logopedics. My therapist was a retired opera singer who taught stutterers the use of the force of their diaphragms.
And it did learn me some basics about vocal strengths as well.
Since I'm a soft-spoken low key voiced kinda person. I used to have difficulty raising my voice, well, not anymore. 😂

The thumbnail makes it look like weird Al is doing a Slayer parody.

Thanks your analysis was very inspirational even I have listened Slayer decades. I respect your opinion because I often hear disrespect for Metal music: "It's just senless noise and growl without purpose" It's unfortunately hard and frustrating tryto explain to others what's it all about. Especially when you love Metal music so passionately. 🖤

One of the greatest bands ever! I have been listening to Slayer since the mid 80s. Kerry King on guitar 🎸…. One of the best!!

Was at the 'Final' LA show in 2019, kinda sad but it was time. Ya really need to hear how this Album Sounded. They'd left Metal Blade and had Def Jam produce it, top notch. Tom's range isn't anywhere near what it was in 1986, the opening scream on Angel Of Death is legendary. Thanks for the reaction, love the breakdowns and insight.

You were in shock weren't you beth I could tell by the look on your face. So this maybe might be too much for your innocent eats lol. I have a suggestion for you to react to though which would be more easier to listen to and that would be for Wintersun sons of winter and stars 1.5 official lyric video. They are labeled as a symphonic viking metal band from Finland. They use viking folklore in their music which this song is emotional intense and beautiful all at the same time too beth . So send me back a reply to see what you think
Much love Wintersun Alex USA ❄️❤️
