It can be, depends how you do it. I usually have mine barely chirp and back off. Some people tighten burrs all the way to burr lock without the grinder running. The main issue is when people basically get to burr lock while it is running and grind away the metal and coating.
Not sure this question'll make sense, but on my Rancilio Rocky, I can unscrew a part on the inside so that I can bring the zero point to the very front, center of the machine where there's a little arrow that it lines up with. On this, I'm good with finding the zero point, but that little point is off-center and points at about 5 o'clock. I mark that point with the ring and then turn it to to my grind point. It just bugs me that the little ring and that zero point can't be set to the front, middle. Or can it all be adjusted internally in some way to do that? Make sense?
Thanks! This helped me with my first cleaning. 😊
So glad to hear it!
Is it dangerous to make your burs touch to find zero?

How do you recommend cleaning the chute on the grinder?
We recommend using a small brush

Only way is to zero and replace the sticker. Rocky a totally different internal design.
Great TY Now waiting for the DF83 Gen 2 which the rubber pieces constantly pop up.
Thanks! Do you recommend something like Grindz? And how often?
Anymore, we don't recommend grindz, they are ok, but its much better to pull the top off, brush out, and brush out the chute.
@@EspressoOutlet Thanks alot!!!
How often is this done?
Would it be based on time or on how many bags of beans.
Thanks
Usually if you use the bellows, and clean the chute from time to time, the grinder stays very clean. 2-4 times a year I pull the lid off.
When should it be cleaned?
every few months.
So no water?
Definitely no water. Cleaning should be done with a brush.
Thank you
How often should we clean our grinder?
Usually every few months inside the grind chamber. Usually brush the chute about weekly to keep ion gen running well.
