    IMO, 60 fps makes it look like a cheap production, and not the good kind, except for minigun scene, that was dope in 60 fps.

      @ No idea what you are saying either tbh. "Cinematic" doesn't mean anything specific - at most it means "what I associate with movies" - which isn't bad or good, it's just an association you have. Someone trained you that way. "Cheap" isn't really what I get either, since that train very much isn't, and since I know that higher framerates requires more expensive equipment.

    60 fps does look stunning for some shots like the heavy firing one and the bike follow shot. But its not working at all for the talkie portions. I feel like I'm standing on the set and watching them talk but cannot control my head movement. 24 fps takes us to a cinematic universe with more motion blurs than in real life. Humans love to see unique visuals when compared to real life visuals. But i also found that even some high action shots looked great in 24fps. Hope they come up with a film in which 60fps or 120fps are used for only certain high action shots and the remaining stays 24fps. I know that a full film final output is not possible to be taken in different fps's for different shots. But I just hope we figure that out somehow.

    I think the pan at 0:14 and 1:21 allow the best comparision. It really eliminates that jitter and blur at 60 FPS. For the rest of it though, I don't think either really have much of an advantage interms of immersion. 24-30 FPS usually just wins by default because people are used to it.

    • @umbrella3705

      @@spyro440 Actually yes, that's basically how vision works. Look around a room, you'll find that your eyes have difficulty smoothly 'tracking' across a room without fixating on a single point. When you look from one thing to another, your brain uses your peripherals to basically 'simulate' the in-between space. Frame rates like 24 fps do a good job at imitating the choppiness of real vision. If an object is staying in the same place in frame, it'll remain sharp. 60fps+ on the other hand, will capture the entire frame with clarity. But when your eyes are watching a screen, they don't create a natural motion blur like you'd see in real life, because your eyes are fixated on a single point - the screen. So the entire thing feels unnaturally clear.
      So while your eyes don't have 'motion blur' per se, motion blur is probably the closest analog you'll get to how the human eye works.

    • @anonymousx6651
      @anonymousx6651 ปีที่แล้ว

      More fps are more noticeable with fast motion (perhaps also the reason why it doesn't loose immersion according to the comments, since there's still a lot of blurr from the object going a relatively big distance during the exposure of 1 frame)
      Atleast in my opinion though slow motion already looks like it is at higher fps, because there is barely to no motion blur and smooth motion is already there at low fps (I think it could even look better, if fps were lowered, the intro of Deadpool 2 for example didn't look good in my opinion ).
      High fps are more comparable to real life though and could be good in documentaries and stuff, where you want the effect of looking at something real through a camera.

      You're not controlling the movement, that's why it seems smoother. Watching this video, the 60 FPS version seems pretty much perfectly smooth, but playing a fast-paced video game at 60 FPS can be a little suboptimal. I think it has to do with 'responsiveness', which isn't a factor in movies.

    60fps action looks better imo. In most action sequences I just zone off because there's not anything particularly interesting story wise going on. Just the same old guys punching each other, shooting at each other, quite frankly it's boring. The fast camera movements and fast panning especially don't look good in 24fps. This movie's action feels more interesting and exciting in comparison.

  • @filmdigital
    @filmdigital 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    To my eyes, the 24fps looks better, with the exception of the show motion minigun choas at the end, that did seem to have more depth and detail on the 60fps footage. Also, on the 24fps it looked a lot more like Will Smith on motorcycle, where as on the 60fps footage, I could clearly see it was a stunt man and not will smith at one point. The motion blur of 24fps, definitely helps to hide the use of stunt doubles in fast moving action scenes.

    IMO, movies in 60fps look better once you've seen several hours of footage and gotten more used to it. Then when you see a 24fps movie it's almost headache inducing, so much of the movie is blurry and out of focus! It's awful.
    Part of the reason it looks bad is because the industry isn't used to it. Actors in particular. But actors would improve and learn how to act in ways that are more believable in 60fps.
    Actors in 60fps look to me kinda like actors in the silent films of the past. Actors learned how to improve at 24fps, they'd do it again at 60fps.

      its literally because its what we are used to. IIRC 16fps was going to be the standard until they added sound to films. I think a happy middle ground is if films and shows used a variable refresh that way the film maker can chose which they think looks best.

    Old TVs shows had 60 frames per second by default, because of how tv worked, soap operas were filmed in a format that had 60 frames per second.
    60 frames per second media isnt something new,.
