A-Aron, thank you so very much for purchasing Angelina's book. All profits are donated to charity. This interview provides great insight to Angelina the person. She says her grandmother Mery is very inspiring and she loves her. At age 9, she cares about children, very much. Ann Lindmo had to ask her 3 times, what she did for the girl she met on the street. Angelina on her third response, clearly says (in Norwegian) she gave her shoes to the girl. A close look at Angelina's expression during the applause, demonstrates she fully understands charity. Her diary is neatly written and well organized, with the pages numbered. She was 6 years old when she met the girl and wrote that entry. Angelina has said a few times, over the years, she writes in her journal each day and the lyrics for her songs come from it. Angelina's most recent versions of "Unchained Melody" are awesome, each a bit different, but this version at age 9 has a special place in my heart.
It took me several times reading her book to unpack all that was said and what was not said to grasp how amazing this family is. For example the words she wrote you know definitely they came from Angelina and so brilliantly written, also not a word from Sara about what Angelina wanted to do, perhaps just a nod of affirmation, and then Sara giving the girl a large sum of money to end her day and go home to rest. What a message to all of us and how wonderful this family is. It's no wonder we love them so much. As far as her singing goes, I am not an expert but I think she nailed this song.
Her vocal growth and development during this stage of her life to 13 was astounding. Even back in the NGT 4 songs, each one was noticeably much better than the previous one. We have and still continue to love watching her progress.
What a gift we have to watch the growth of this artist over the years. I had the pleasure of hearing Angelina perform this live in Portsmouth last year. Chri Walker has documented this on his BigAngieFan channel. He characterized this as the best performance of her career and I wouldn't have argued with this only to see it eclipsed the following year by her tender rendition at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony for Narges Mohammedi. The circumstances made it ever so moving and a fitting tribute to a woman who has given everything to advance human rights.❤
When you just started with Angelina and were blown away with I Put a Spell on You, you compared Angelina to your son and wondered how she could understand the essence of those mature and somewhat dark lyrics. I commented to you that many reactors say she can’t understand what she’s singing about, but they’re wrong. I immediately thought of this interview that shows how Angelina is very far from other nine year old children. Her musical talent is way, way off the charts, but her intelligence and her understanding of the world around her gives her the ability to sing with such authenticity and depth.
Listen to Angelina sing Unchained Melody during her American debut concert at Portsmouth, NH last September. I was there and it was absolutely mesmerizing! Listen to that one before the Nobel Prize version 4 months later, which was slightly toned down, given the situation. That version was impeccable and powerful for different reasons, given that the woman being honored was Iranian, like her grandmother, was put in prison by the regime for speaking out for women's rights, and her twin children were there, with their father, to receive their mother's Nobel Prize on her behalf. So the context was very emotional. Angelina wanted to sing that song to honor Narges Mohammadi since it's about a prisoner who longs to be reunited with a loved one. The song was written for and sung in the 1955 movie, Unchained. That Nobel Prize concert was live-streamed to 350 million people in 100 countries.
As Andy pointed out, I find it endearing that the interviewer had to practically drag the phrase “I gave her my shoes” out of her. She had to ask AJ 3 times. She’s so humble and reluctant to make any of it about herself. She was literally whispering the answer. If there were a picture of humble it would be one of Angelina Jordan. I’ve watched this interview at least 100 times and it never gets old. It always touches my heart and soul. BTW Aron, there’s a video out there of a conversation between AJ and a famous Norwegian author/poet. They are discussing this book and he is urging her to write and publish it.
Thank you for these informative and emotional reactions. I also bought the book and found it very moving! She is a great writer! Angelina later wrote a song about meeting that orphan girl called Princess of Ruins, which she debuted at her Las Vegas show earlier this year. A great surprise! You should check it out. Have tissues handy. Listen to her introduce the song and what she says afterwards. It's a great song! Very moving, especially once you know the story behind it.
She loved the shoes but she gave them away. Or she loved them, SO she gave them away? I am trying to understand exactly what her thoughts were at this time. Is she giving her love, even at so young an age? What an incredible girl!
Keep in mind that when Angelina reads from her diary - she wrote those words at age 6 and is reading them back at age 9. It sort of gives you a hint on how she is turning out to be a great songwriter - also, Grandmother Mery was a child prodigy in both art and poetry - so Angelina appears to have a similar poetic approach.
If there’s any doubt Jordan exists on a higher plane of consciousness, when she says, at nine years old, that she cares very much for children, you can be assured that she is NOT a child, from an existential point of view. She had to be born with a physical body in order to exist in the physical world, such are the Children of Light, asleep in the Halls of Amenti until needed by mankind in the Battle against the Darkness. Her extraordinary talents are the method by which she transmits her message of love to the world, and will be the way she raises the funds to accomplish her dreams of providing for the poor children of the world. That is why she was put here, not just to be a great singer, as most people think. I have seen this manifested in my mind many times, the Goddess of Music of the poor children of the world. That is her destiny, it will be her legacy. It’s even written in her name. Angelina Jordan Astar when translated literally means, Messenger of God flows from the Light. Can’t wait to see your reaction to Nobel performance!
Many kids are, but they are not being given any microphones. We wouldn’t know about Angelina’s story either if she wasn’t so talented. But yes, Angelina and her family is special.
" need your love", that was the moment I knew in my heart that she would one day sing "Unchained Melody" (My all time most favorite song) better than anyone else, including Bobby Hatfield. And now in less than a year she has done just that two times! Sept22, 2023 in Portsmouth NH she slowed it WAY DOWN ; I have heard 'slower than anyone had every sang a song - something like 45-46 beats per minute! (Please do it also if you don't have it on your list!} I was there for that concert and had been praying she would do it (my favorite song)! When she started it I started crying! It was the most beautiful thing I had heard in my 81 years! And the second time was at the Nobel Peace Prize in Dec, 2023! It was great, (Better than Portsmouth many say, but for me being 30 feet from her and hearing it live in Portsmouth was the best!! I heard Bobby sing it live in 1965, and I heard Elvis do it live, and I heard Angelina do it live! ANGELINA IS THE BEST!
I just checked and her version in Portsmouth was 5 minutes and 22 seconds while at the Nobel Peace Prize it was 4:05! And by most standards 4.05 is slow!
@@clydeatrowbridge I don’t know the exact quote, but Sara has also said something to the effect that ‘being with Angelina has been like being with an adult since she was 8 years old. ‘ AJ’s a genius, plain and simple.
Who knows of a 6 year old child who already knows what they re going to do in life, and then works diligently for years to achieve that goal? And who knows of a 6 year old that makes a commitment to do something that at times is uncomfortable, for the rest of their life, and actually holds to that commitment? Angelina Jordan! ❤❤❤
She wrote that in her journal at six years old! This is what the song Princess of Ruins is about! Angelina keeping her promise to her! She has a pure heart of gold!
Thank you for this lovely and sensitive reaction Aron, I very liked it. I love that splendid and sweet book by Angelina, her sensitivity and love for others is wonderful, in addition to her absolutely incredible ability to write for a child of that age... but this is our unique barefoot princess.💛🧡❤
"I think of her everyday!" And she cares about children (she was 6 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) And with all her writings, how she is able to connect her thoughts to not stray from the message she is trying to convey to us. And she was already maintaining a diary (from when, 6, 7 ?) Can't make this up!
I love re-watching these timeless pieces from her early childhood (you have to say 'early' since all of this has been in her childhood), but the early part was especially beautiful for all kinds or reasons. This particular video/event reminds me of her native language and a wish I have always had, and that is to hear her sing one of her known covers, or an original, in Norwegian. I'm sure it would be beautiful, but I want to hear it be beautiful.
I'll point out few things Angelina said that it happened in the Middle East in fact it was in Iran but things were happening in this country which gave him bad press so Angelina had the tact not to name him by name, more when she says that what she did should have done everywhere else this gives us a little idea that she does not set boundaries and that she would remain the same wherever she goes and when she says that the little girl made a strong impression on her and that she cared about the fate of a children. Such humanism at 6 years old is a sign of a person of great conscience. I'm glad you saw this video of Angelina which gives you another side of her personnality other than a fabulous singer. thank you . Taking into consideration all the talents and human qualities in myopinion Angelina is an exceptional person and another thing which IMO plays a lot on her destiny is the fact that her family is rich, so Angelina does not sing for fortune she already has she does it because she love singing as much as breathing nd she sings to bring love to the world these are her own words, Angelina is a rarety in the artistic world and we are blessed to know her. Me too I had bought the book 4 years ago.
How about being totally impressed by the wisdom and brilliant mind of a 9 year old....she is simply incredible to say the least and for me as an adult to have a child as my inspiration in life is quite unusual I would suspect, but the truth!!! It is not her insurmountable talent that is most impressive, it is the person she is and has been all her life. A "major improvement" since the last version would be the understatement of the century IMHO. This rendition right here ranks right at the top of my list...simply unbelievable, a big favorite amongst them all, even given this short version. Thanks Aron, the journey continues.
Not sure if you are also planning to watch the 11 year old home recording version that she did. She sings the full song instead of a shortened version like she does here. And her ending is much improved. The 11 year old version is sung to a backing track,

She's perfecting it, already very well done. Yet she keeps raising the bar on this until it's a masterpiece. Like a master chef perfecting his signature recipe.
at that time Sarah was working as a teacher on the Japanese school in Teheran - i dont know how long but at least it must have been a Semester/ half year
Angelina likely met the shoeless girl in Iran, where Mery is from. This means that when AJ spoke with her, it had to be in Farsi (the girl’s native language). Angelina, on the other hand, was also fluent in Norwegian, Swedish & English (and even knew a bit of Japanese, apparently). Just something to consider while you ponder the depth of their conversation and the connection they made (and that Angelina was about 6 years old at the time).

Anne Lindmo's TV show is a literary program to discuss newly published books with the author (and of course to do some promotion). Angelina was not the only guest in this episode, but certainly the only singer. The vocal performance took place before the interview, not after as many believe. Lars Andreas Aspesæter on piano, the same guy who accompanied her during the "I put a spell on you" recording and "Portrait of a child" jamming session earlier that year. It's really interesting to watch the performances with different accompaniment - we have almost everything there, just guitar or piano, generic backing track, small jazz band in Portsmouth, big one with backup singers in Vegas and of course the full symphony orchestra in Oslo. It is often said that this performance is shortened, but that is not entirely true - she sings exactly what was heard in the original film, without the additions of later performers (including Bobby Hatfield). This interview is very important because it adds an impressive facet to the background knowledge of this person as an artist, just like the interviews about the artists who inspired her. But it is not the only one on this topic - there is also a literature podcast by publisher Cappelen Damm called "Book talk" in which Angelina talks to poet Erling Kittelsen about her book th-cam.com/video/6p6iL989P_8/w-d-xo.html (thankfully reuploaded and supplemented with subtitles by the Angelina Jordan fan club The Shield on FB). The book was first published only in Norwegian, the English version came later, due to high demand from abroad. Interestingly, Cappelen Damm had already made two versions of a short commercial - in Norwegian th-cam.com/video/IqFh-bDJhCI/w-d-xo.html and in English th-cam.com/video/Ld0GFRB-2u8/w-d-xo.html , the latter having ten times as many views as the former.
There is an English language version available as a PDF file, at her official store. Search Angelina Jordan Official Store. The prose (borderline poetry) combined with Mery's art is just extraordinarily moving.
Evidently empathy is a part of Angelina’s entire family. There is a video that shows Angelina’s family traveling in a poor area in Jordan. Angelina’s little sister, Juliette is seen crying, because she saw how the poor kids had to live there. I instantly loved Juliette as much as I love Angelina. Actually I love the whole family.
This child of the creator of the universe was given a gift and she understands that. It’s her humility that allows her singing gift to be so amazing. Think about that.
Btw, her VRIBATO was spot on at the 14:28 mark 😂 Sorry, this just happens to me some times, particularly on Fridays (today is Friday). I'll leave you be now, I promise 😉
I don't recall. I bought it for myself but really for my wife as she was hiking a mountain 6 months after shattering her spine! It reads "I asked God for strength and courage. He sent my wife" and shows a picture of wonder woman
What???? I (admittedly not a singer) didn't hear ANY struggling with the last note at the Nobel performance of this song. To me anyway, that performance and ESPECIALLY the ending .... is perfect.
@@SteveAckerman-ly3qg You are right of course. It's JUST the question of releasing the very last note... No struggling what so ever. 🙂 I'm not a singer either but I am a instrumentalist and the release of the last note at 9 reminds me of her last note at 17. It's all good 😀

🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉Aj🎉😊love you
This child of the creator of the universe was given a gift and she understands that.
She is so adorable. I enjoyed watching her speak even without understanding the language.
I suspect Iran too: in her book she writes that mum Sara taught at the local Japan school, and Teheran has such a school.
Love this girl from 7 years old to 18 years old now and forever. ❤❤❤

She has also written and performed a song about the experience of meeting with the girl she gave her shoes to. She performed it for the first time at her Vegas concert. PRINCESS OF RUINS. Check it out when you get a chance.
English is actually her fourth language ARon. FYI.
I’ve followed Angelina since she was 8yrs old. Angelina isn’t just the greatest singer on the planet but she’s Beautiful inside and out. She definitely God given. Everyone in the world should know her name. I just can’t wait for her to be at the top of the world 🌍 where she belongs. Great Reaction 🥰 Denise from Yorkshire England 🏴🥰👼👼🫅🫅👍
❤️❤️❤️❤️👣 For me, her humility is her most admirable trait.
An angel on earth 💕💜💙🎶🎤🎵😇
Her performance of this song in Portsmouth was epic.
No words to describe this miracle.
I've tried unsuccessfully to find her book in print....preferably the English version. If it's out there please advise as to how I can get it. Thanks.
Angelina has two 17 year old performances of Unchained meledy Port Smith and Nobel widely different both great, they were for different purposes.
❤
This child of the creator of the universe was given a gift and she understands that. It’s her humility that allows her singing gift to be so amazing. Think about that.
I appreciate her gift
Great Reaction and Analysis 👍🙏👣💯😎
0:12 ANELINA ??? A-Aron ??? Buddy ??
Yeah I heard it when I was editing and had that same reaction..I was like wtf dude (talking about myself)
@@A-AronReacts 😁 Great reaction as always though! Have a nice weekend 🙂 Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
Btw, her VRIBATO was spot on at the 14:28 mark 😂 Sorry, this just happens to me some times, particularly on Fridays (today is Friday). I'll leave you be now, I promise 😉
She is just amazing!
Thanks!
Thanks so much!
God has truly given us an angel here on earth!! Where did you get the t-shirt?
I don't recall. I bought it for myself but really for my wife as she was hiking a mountain 6 months after shattering her spine! It reads "I asked God for strength and courage. He sent my wife" and shows a picture of wonder woman
I don't think Angelina was ever 9 years old. If you look in her eye's you don't see a 9yr old.
Is that book offered in English and word? Can I get it? You do know that she donated all the proceeds of the book to children.
www.angelinajordanofficial.com/book. In English, digital only
@A-AronReacts but I think it's a PDF if I recall
@@A-AronReacts yes you download the e-book as a PDF with a separate PDF giving the code word that allows you to read it.
At 17 (the Nobel Price) she still stuggles with the release of the very last note.. She's not a soprano. Everything else though is perfect 😀
