Welcome back with Angelina, Josh. Who wouldn't want to hear goodbye like that! This song was recorded in Oslo, before leaving for the United States. A 10 year old girl (but if she were 8 or 9 or 11 it was the same), who in perfect autonomy has so much sensitivity and musical intelligence to recalibrate a song like this and do it in such a perfect, accurate, sweet, soft way, balanced and even more so, it's simply unreal. Given the location where the show is recorded, we could say that her voice is certainly already close to heaven. She is unique, practically impossible to describe, but wonderful, always.❤🧡💛
Ella Fitzgerald is the original artist for this song and it should be noted that she was voted #1 as the Top Jazz singer of all time, followed by Siantra, Nat King Cole and Billie Holiday. Angelina know's you cant' really improve on Ella's arrangement, so what does she do differently? She simply slows it down. It is pure genius and proves that 'less can be more' at times. The fact she's doing this at 10, on an outside rooftop, with a single guitarist simply keeping time, jst adds to it. Ella's was done in a full studio set up and I'm pretty sure it wasn't done in one 'spur of the moment' take like this. The girl is simply incredible and as much as I love Ella's original, I get more intense feeling from Angelina's vocals.
If you think about it, how insane is it that a 10 year old girl, who's first language isn't English, is able to cover Ella Fitzgerald and make you feel more emotion laden penetration than Ella's great original? This happens with any heartfelt ballad she sings.
Actually Ella Fitzgerald was not the original artist. Her version was released in 1956. The song was first performed in 1944 and was recorded by several artists before Ella included Benny Goodman and his Orchestra.
You're right. I believe the words 'best known' version of the song was Ella's rendition but I could see even people like the great Judy Garland performing it back in the day as well as soloists like Doris Day who did accompany 'Big Bands' as well. The one song I've always wished that Angelina would cover is 'I'll Be Seeing You', and strange as it may sound, the best version of it I've ever heard was by a '60's' group called 'The Skyliners'. Jimmy Beaumont on lead vocals was made for that song. AJ would 'kill it' for sure, since it's so much like 'Every Time We Say Goodbye'.
Angelina's tenth year was a real breakout for her performance development. She really got comfortable relating to audiences, both live and through the camera lens. Another watershed performance from that year would be her cover/rewrite of "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse. The original lyrics are pretty crude, and her mom realized this only on the Friday before the scheduled Saturday recording session. Angelina rewrote the lyrics in just a day, and nailed the video on the second take. She turned the song into one of hope and love, even though Winehouse's original was quite dark and bleak. Even so, the end result seems like an ode to Amy from her greatest fan.

Very nice and interesting reactino. I love this so much - one of my very favourites.... She is the master of slowing songs down and making them better as a result - you might enjoy her recent live "Unchained Melody" which was very slow and intensely beautiful.... She even slows her own songs down: last year in Norway she surprised people a bit by slowing her great song "Million Miles" and thereby making the emotional impact (already high) even more greater. And as you say her timing is remarkable: she seems to have had that from birth - her grandmother recently released an old family video of Angelina singing "I will always love you" in the cot at 18 mths and in addition to being on pitch, one thing that is remarkable I think is her timing.. if you watch her eyes and head movements she just seems to have the timing in her head perfectly (if you see what I mean).. it's amazing !
If you want to hear Angelina's lowest register, check out her version of How Great Thou Art by Elvis. She is around 12 or 13 here and actually performs the song in the same low register as Elvis did! It is mind-blowing. Another suggestion is hearing 17-year-old Angelina singing live at her concert in Portsmouth New Hampshire a month ago, where I attended. However, the artist deserves equal priority. Unfortunately they do not get credit from watching your previous reactions. Angelina, if you remember, sang "I'm a Fool to Want You" a cappella for one of her NGT audition requirements and maintained the beat/timing throughout with no cues of any sort. Her sense of rhythm is impeccable.

So you watched so far from 6 year old Angelina to 10 year old, that's 4 years..... The development in just 4 years is other worldly, where other artist would need at least 20 years to get to. Many of my favorite songs of Angelina’s occur during her ages 10 through 12. Here is an example: She sang a precious rendition of My Funny Valentine at age 10. Then she sang it again at age 16. Angelina is a throwback to the great renaissance artists who created the masterpieces that will continue to be marveled at till the end of time. Angelina has a special gift where she reads the lyrics, plays the music in her mind digesting them envisioning what made the composer put those words and those notes down on paper. She then presents us with a vocal painting that transcends both the music and the lyrics becoming instead pure emotion. In almost 80 years I have never heard anyone who can grab me with just a few notes and produce real feelings from her songs.

What she achieved with her tone, timing, phrasing, and so effortless is absolutely amazing at her age and even for older singers, I''m sure. The version that is lodged into my mind, is the rendition by Vera Lynn. But as so often with such classics, many great artists sang it. Angelina sang so many old and more recent classics. This is a timeless sentimental song and she sings it so beautifully. I've heard her go as low as C2 and C2#. Her lower range is wonderful. She has released her new EP 'Old Enough'. I think you will greatly enjoy it :-)

Your deep technical knowledge and experience are clearly top-tier, but you had me right from the outset when you explained your research into the song, its origins and lyrics etc. It confuses and admittedly irritates me when reactors just dive into a song with absolutely ZERO idea of the artist, or what the song itself is even about. I do not understand how they could react to something that they have no clue about. Outstanding example: Angelina's performance of Nico Cartosio's "Song For A". Your great. I do not usually recommend people miss out on Angelina's amazing full collection of performances. They're amazing ones at every age, over 200 performances. That said at the rate you're doing them you never get to the present time which as of this writing she is still 17. Perhaps you also enjoy some of them without reacting? Either way you might want to skip to the present. Her EP releases a few months back is 6 songs of varying styles that best listened to in order as there is a story Arc as well. Best

Angelina makes something so difficult appear to be easy. That is talent! In the intro the host mentioned that Angelina was going to the USA. Her grandma was the director of the music video for Fly me to the Moon, filmed in the desert (Nevada I think) Angelina still just 10 years old. The setting was rather challenging but Angelina just mastered it. paul At the Kongsberg concert, I was stunned by impact of her primal wail (towards the end) after she had slowed down, considerably, her other 3 recorded versions of Millions Miles.

Another good example is “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.” And of course, the powerful run at the end - designed to be heard even on the moon - will be more impressive every year her voice matures (which seems unbelievable now, but I'm sure it will).
Not surprisingly, up to this point you have been hearing, for the most part, her "most perfect" performances. It might be time to throw an imperfect one into the mix: "I Will Survive", supposedly recorded in 2016, when she was 10. I say "supposedly" because there's no visual evidence of her age when she sang it. It sounds to me like this could be a one-and-only take, with her reading the lyrics as she sings. Her reading the lyrics isn't at all unusual (she even did that in the "I Put a Spell on You" music video), but hearing _evidence_ of her reading the lyrics is very unusual. Typically you can't tell that just by listening to the audio. Here, I think you can. Anyway, it's still an incredible performance, especially for a 10-year-old.
AJ had announced tbe family was leaving Oslo for an extended stay in the US. The announcers were simply saying they wished her well and were confident she would be successful wherever she went. The trip was to make preparations for a permanent move a couple years later.
In my opinion, the gold standard for Angelina reaction videos, especially if they're covers (since she almost always puts her own spin on the song), is an approach where the original or most popular version is shown first (maybe all of it or just a minute or so), before watching Angelina's version. I think you wasted a great opportunity by not sharing a bit of Ella with your viewers. My guess is that many of them have never heard her sing this song and so lack the context to fully understand the genius of what Angelina has done here.......I think this method ought to be mandatory for anyone doing a reaction to Angelina! ;-)......On another subject, If you're an admirer of Angelina Jordan, why don't you help her out? Tell your viewers to support her, to go to her channel and subscribe, like the original video; and, of course, buy her music. So how about providing the links to her channels, Patreon and social media? C'mon, it's not just about promoting yourself; you want to promote the artists too!! Without them, would you have over 36k subscribers?

This version is even slower than Ella's, and phrasing that first line on a single note is really hard to do! Yet she draws me in from the very beginning with her tone. There is a purity about this performance that I can't pin down. It makes time stop and listen. It's almost therapy. By the way, if you want to hear how she handles a really slow version of a song today, check out Unchained Melody from her recent Portland concert. The sound recording is not the best owing to it being an iPhone at a live concert, but her performance is astonishing!

Before moving on to age 11, a "MUST HEAR" Studio Performance. what me always blows away, when watching her, especially in her one digit ages, is how she manages to transport emotions - every time. She sings like an old soul, so mature...it´s such a conflict in my brain, seeing this child and listening to such a developed, almost perfect voice. Mostly, her songs are packed with a lot of styles and technics, hard to notice, because she is able to switch from one to anotrher with such smooth transitions, that i tend to get almost mezmerized. I use to lose the focus and start to just enjoy, which is a good thing. There is something in her voice, i can´t explain, she hugs the audience right from the start, drags you in and will only release in the end, somehow. Her family created a great environment around her, so we hopefully can enjoy her voice for many decades to come
I love some of her songs on her new album. The song Diamond is creative in the styles she uses in the song. She has written over 100 songs of her own. She is 17 years old now, I think.
I really like you pointing out Angelina's style, how she rests on the end of the phrase ending in "ing" and holding that note. To me that is genius and adds so much to her interpretation.

I can name 5 right now....Lucy Thomas, Morissette Amon, Diana Ankudinova, Taylor Swift (LOL), and and a ventriloquist from Rumania, 13 year old Ana Maria Mărgean. Ana sings duets with her puppets that sound better than any of these, but she's also a world class singer on her own also. I know for damn sure Angelina isn't the best, there is always someone better. My honest take on all of this who's the best crap.
If you were to factor 'consistency' into the equation, no one else even approaches Miss Jordan's amazing run of sequential, stunning accomplishments, now spanning a decade. Really, I don't think anyone is seriously going to promote Miss Swift as the best singer. She, herself, shows good self-deprecation with one of her own songs about that, but, I would agree that she is the Best ShowWoman of the group and more. I dropped Miss Ankudinova because she is Russian, as I have 'Dimash', for the same reason, though a Kazak. It is a satellite of Russia and none of those people pass with me.
You ever heard of Jackie Evancho in the last 14 years? Better check everything about her when she started at age 8 also in 2008. It will take you a long time to take in all the information and videos of her accomplishments.

IMO, one of Angelina's contributions as an artist is that she reminded the older generations (including my parents) that the jazz genre is here to remain, and she single-handedly will revive the jazz genre; further, she introduced jazz to younger generations to prove what the real music is all about.

A 10 year old girl (but if she were 8 or 9 or 11 it was the same), who in perfect autonomy has so much sensitivity and musical intelligence to recalibrate a song like this and do it in such a perfect, accurate, sweet, soft way, balanced and even more so, it's simply unreal. Ella Fitzgerald is the original artist for this song and it should be noted
that she was voted #1 as the Top Jazz singer of all time, followed by

improve on Ella's arrangement, so what does she do differently? She simply
slows it down. It is pure genius and proves that 'less can be more' at times.
The fact she's doing this at 10, on an outside rooftop, with a single guitarist
simply keeping time, jst adds to it. Ella's was done in a full studio set up and
I'm pretty sure it wasn't done in one 'spur of the moment' take like this. The
girl is simply incredible and as much as I love Ella's original, I get more intense
feeling from Angelina's vocals.
Ella sings this to perfection, however Angelina sings the song on a softer, tender and more personal level, as if she was singing just for you.
If you think about it, how insane is it that a 10 year old girl, who's first
language isn't English, is able to cover Ella Fitzgerald and make you feel more emotion laden penetration than Ella's great original? This happens
with any heartfelt ballad she sings.
Actually Ella Fitzgerald was not the original artist. Her version was released in 1956. The song was first performed in 1944 and was recorded by several artists before Ella included Benny Goodman and his Orchestra.
You're right. I believe the words 'best known' version of the song was
Ella's rendition but I could see even people like the great Judy Garland
performing it back in the day as well as soloists like Doris Day who did
accompany 'Big Bands' as well. The one song I've always wished that
Angelina would cover is 'I'll Be Seeing You', and strange as it may sound,
the best version of it I've ever heard was by a '60's' group called 'The
Skyliners'. Jimmy Beaumont on lead vocals was made for that song. AJ
would 'kill it' for sure, since it's so much like 'Every Time We Say Goodbye'.
Angelina's tenth year was a real breakout for her performance development. She really got comfortable relating to audiences, both live and through the camera lens. Another watershed performance from that year would be her cover/rewrite of "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse. The original lyrics are pretty crude, and her mom realized this only on the Friday before the scheduled Saturday recording session. Angelina rewrote the lyrics in just a day, and nailed the video on the second take. She turned the song into one of hope and love, even though Winehouse's original was quite dark and bleak. Even so, the end result seems like an ode to Amy from her greatest fan.

Very nice and interesting reactino. I love this so much - one of my very favourites.... She is the master of slowing songs down and making them better as a result - you might enjoy her recent live "Unchained Melody" which was very slow and intensely beautiful.... She even slows her own songs down: last year in Norway she surprised people a bit by slowing her great song "Million Miles" and thereby making the emotional impact (already high) even more greater. And as you say her timing is remarkable: she seems to have had that from birth - her grandmother recently released an old family video of Angelina singing "I will always love you" in the cot at 18 mths and in addition to being on pitch, one thing that is remarkable I think is her timing.. if you watch her eyes and head movements she just seems to have the timing in her head perfectly (if you see what I mean).. it's amazing !
If you want to hear Angelina's lowest register, check out her version of How Great Thou Art by Elvis. She is around 12 or 13 here and actually performs the song in the same low register as Elvis did! It is mind-blowing.

Angelina, if you remember, sang "I'm a Fool to Want You" a cappella for one of her NGT audition requirements and maintained the beat/timing throughout with no cues of any sort. Her sense of rhythm is impeccable.

Many of my favorite songs of Angelina’s occur during her ages 10 through 12. Here is an example: She sang a precious rendition of My Funny Valentine at age 10. Then she sang it again at age 16. She then presents us with a vocal painting that transcends both the music and the lyrics becoming instead pure emotion.

I’d like to recommend you a crossover group from South Korea(from Phantom Singer 4 this year) I discovered recently. Its name is “Forténa” that consists four tenors(I’ve heard it’s the first crossover group with four tenors). This group has two count tenors which is unusual for crossover group.
One of the members is a very famous count tenor(His name is DQ Lee and played in lots of operas all over the world).

Your deep technical knowledge and experience are clearly top-tier, but you had me right from the outset when you explained your research into the song, its origins and lyrics etc. It confuses and admittedly irritates me when reactors just dive into a song with absolutely ZERO idea of the artist, or what the song itself is even about. Your great. I do not usually recommend people miss out on Angelina's amazing full collection of performances. They're amazing ones at every age, over 200 performances. That said at the rate you're doing them you never get to the present time which as of this writing she is still 17. Perhaps you also enjoy some of them without reacting? Either way you might want to skip to the present. Her EP releases a few months back is 6 songs of varying styles that best listened to in order as there is a story Arc as well. Best

This is my favorite video of young Angelina - simply a perfect performance. Until now, however, I have always been of the opinion that "A change from major to minor" is correct, as Porter begins with an A♭ major chord and ends with an A♭ minor chord, matching the mood of the music to the words (and not the contrary).

Not surprisingly, up to this point you have been hearing, for the most part, her "most perfect" performances. It might be time to throw an imperfect one into the mix: "I Will Survive", supposedly recorded in 2016, when she was 10. I say "supposedly" because there's no visual evidence of her age when she sang it. It sounds to me like this could be a one-and-only take, with her reading the lyrics as she sings. Her reading the lyrics isn't at all unusual (she even did that in the "I Put a Spell on You" music video), but hearing _evidence_ of her reading the lyrics is very unusual. Typically you can't tell that just by listening to the audio. Here, I think you can. Anyway, it's still an incredible performance, especially for a 10-year-old.

In my opinion, the gold standard for Angelina reaction videos, especially if they're covers (since she almost always puts her own spin on the song), is an approach where the original or most popular version is shown first (maybe all of it or just a minute or so), before watching Angelina's version. I think you wasted a great opportunity by not sharing a bit of Ella with your viewers. My guess is that many of them have never heard her sing this song and so lack the context to fully understand the genius of what Angelina has done here.......I think this method ought to be mandatory for anyone doing a reaction to Angelina! ;-)......On another subject, If you're an admirer of Angelina Jordan, why don't you help her out? Tell your viewers to support her, to go to her channel and subscribe, like the original video; and, of course, buy her music. So how about providing the links to her channels, Patreon and social media? C'mon, it's not just about promoting yourself; you want to promote the artists too!! Without them, would you have over 36k subscribers?

Age 10 was a good year. Enjoy it as much as you can.
This version is even slower than Ella's, and phrasing that first line on a single note is really hard to do! Yet she draws me in from the very beginning with her tone. There is a purity about this performance that I can't pin down. It makes time stop and listen. It's almost therapy. By the way, if you want to hear how she handles a really slow version of a song today, check out Unchained Melody from her recent Portland concert. The sound recording is not the best owing to it being an iPhone at a live concert, but her performance is astonishing!

Thanks for your video. I hope you would watch and react for Forténa’s video. Forténa is a Korean cross-over group. There are four tenors who have different voices. They are very good at variable genres as well classical musics. Especially, plz watch their video “Neapolis”.
She is such a gentle soul, always touching my heart, and she seems to be feeling the natural angst you expect as she anticipates a soon to happen move to the USA...and it hurts. And we hurt with her. I certainly do.

what me always blows away, when watching her, especially in her one digit ages, is how she manages to transport emotions - every time. She sings like an old soul, so mature...it´s such a conflict in my brain, seeing this child and listening to such a developed, almost perfect voice. Mostly, her songs are packed with a lot of styles and technics, hard to notice, because she is able to switch from one to anotrher with such smooth transitions, that i tend to get almost mezmerized. I use to lose the focus and start to just enjoy, which is a good thing. There is something in her voice, i can´t explain, she hugs the audience right from the start, drags you in and will only release in the end, somehow.
Her family created a great environment around her, so we hopefully can enjoy her voice for many decades to come

Evidently you people don't watch or listen to other young singers of all ages on TH-cam. There are at least 10 other young ladies on TH-cam that their fans say are the best singers on the planet. I can name 5 right now....Lucy Thomas, Morissette Amon, Diana Ankudinova, Taylor Swift (LOL), and and a ventriloquist from Rumania, 13 year old Ana Maria Mărgean. Ana sings duets with her puppets that sound better than any of these, but she's also a world class singer on her own also. I know for damn sure Angelina isn't the best, there is always someone better. My honest take on all of this who's the best crap.
If you were to factor 'consistency' into the equation, no one else even approaches Miss Jordan's amazing run of sequential, stunning accomplishments, now spanning a decade. Really, I don't think anyone is seriously going to promote Miss Swift as the best singer. She, herself, shows good self-deprecation with one of her own songs about that, but, I would agree that she is the Best ShowWoman of the group and more. I dropped Miss Ankudinova because she is Russian, as I have 'Dimash', for the same reason, though a Kazak. It is a satellite of Russia and none of those people pass with me.
You ever heard of Jackie Evancho in the last 14 years? Better check everything about her when she started at age 8 also in 2008. It will take you a long time to take in all the information and videos of her accomplishments.
